The reason I am posting here (which is something that I do not do, normally), is that, some 3 weeks ago I had decided to try to fix the Antialiasing problem that goes with FS9 and drivers, at that time I was running the sim with Nvidia driver 306.52 and I did so since I acquired the system I am using. specs: Windows 7 64B S.P.1 AMD FX 6100 6 core @ 3.30 GHZ 8.00 GB RAM EVGA/NVIDIA GTX560 TI 2048MB GDDR5 Now, due to consistent black screens and other problems, I came to the decision of updating the driver, took 352 and started to investigate which could have been the best options to configure Nvidia Inspector and have the sim running nicely. After trying about 5 different drivers, 340.52 gave me the results and then I had the sim running in a way I have never seen it in my life, crisp, no AA jaggies that my simple eye could notice (possibily there was but I could not see them) and even in the most heavy and resource consuming sceneries it did give me excellent FPS with no sutters at all! in all perfect!. However after 2 weeks of having it this way, I started to have serious graphic problems and pushed me into looking for another driver. My settings as they were when the sim was running perfectly were these, took shots of it as preventive measure to know the settings that were needed. I proceeded to try other driver in order to get rid of the graphic problems I was experiencing ( specially black or red squares all over the monitor and in video applications). But after trying and trying I never got to set the sim back to how It was once running. It has taken almost 2 weeks of time in trying to fix this mess and still no solution is present. I have read numerous posts here, there and everywhere, NickN's, Kostas, techies etc etc etc....... and all kinds of guides from all kinds of assorted chums who are regarded as gurus, but none of them seems to do anything. All the drivers do work(so-so), since I do and try out settings both in Nvidia CP and Inspector, yes I can see differences, but none has given me that "sweet spot" that I was running in some weeks ago with 340.52. To this day I am back on 340.52 but hell sure it is not reacting as it was before, I have tried to set things as they are shown on the above screenshots yet I do not get the performance I was working with. I know this is a never ending issue and normally I do not ask for help and instead prefer to move my rear and find my own solutions but, this time I could really use a hand, I have just reinstalled FS9 from 0 and I do not want to do it again in a long time. Thanks in advance

Tony's probably the very best person to offer any oppinion regarding this Eduardo .... since he's pretty "ON TO IT" in regard to technical based graphics and display matters .... BUT .... the subject is "OPEN" to oher input too Mark C AKL/NZ

Eduardo, first off is your graphics card ok??
"I proceeded to try other driver in order to get rid of the graphic problems I was experiencing ( specially black or red squares all over the monitor and in video applications)"
That bit above worries me that your having these issues?? Your FS9.CFG may also need tweaking.... I also dumped anti aliasing in my FS2004 and did it on the video card like you did using the same Inspector software, I also then messed around with various settings in the CFG file and now it looks a lot better all round. I can post my settings for you if you wish.

Hello! Yes my card is physically ok, actually I am very careful about it and it is cleaned with compressed air once in a while ot remove dust and any other pollution.
Tony, the squares happen to appear once in a while, it was more a matter of certain drivers being installed, there was a very long period when I did not have them at all.
As for the CFG, I have tried and checked several tweaks, some of them do better and some not. Yes please, post your CFG, since with the kind of system I have this bloddy thing should be running with no hassle.
Thanks Both!.

Aside from the like of Drivers and Cards .... and which probably constitutes the greater proportion of these display related issues .... have you tried varying (increasing mainly) your screen size/display resolution Eduardo ? Both within Windows itself and in FS too .... these settings needing to be in agreement with each other of course ? Just "a thought" Mark C AKL/NZ

Hi, the native resolution of my monitor is 1680 X 1050, I did modify it to 1680 x 1200 and yes the resolutions are exactly the same both in Windows and FS, just tried Driver 290.53 not bad for an old one, however it is a Beta release yet more stable than most, I'm gonna have to keep looking, thou seriously I am starting to consider buying a newer GPU. What I do not understand.... now all the 2D panels that have Digital displays like a 777 or A340 consume more frames than they used to before this nightmare... specially some XML gauges from the Abacus 787 panel are real hogs... the funniest thing is that, they are not the top of line programming quality.

Thanks, so as of today I have tried Tony's settings but still, no luck.... tried different drivers, settings etc.... nothing seems to work. I am faced with 3 options either do another install of FS9, wipe out everything and reinstall Windows 7 fresh or the least wanted, quit the sim for good.

Are you able to post any imagery showing examples of your disatisfied with .... i regard what you're seeing/experiencing Eduardo ?
I don't think uninstalling then reinstalling FS .... or even reformatting WINDOWS .... is likely to resolve you problem/s.
The problem/s "must be" Driver and/or Graphics Settings provoked .... to a greater extent.

Hi, yes I am aware that is due to some settings, have a look at this. when on windowed mode or full screen mode this aircraft (787) and panel used to give me between 40-50's in FPS, now it gives me below 30 and even as low as 20.... the funny thing is... when it is kept in windowed mode but "small window" both in 2d panel and external mode it goes as fast as I want!, I keep my frames locked at 60 because that was what I was getting and yes it would go lower but now it is really going low..., I did another fresh install of the sim, but only with specific things: Basic FS9 installation Ultimate Terrain USA, Canada and Europe FSUIPC 3.999z2 Modified textures (landclass, clouds, stars sun moon etc.) optimized for FS9 at decent resolutions, not the 4000 and something pixels, but 512 pixel textures. The only freeware aircraft I installed this time was the 787, as a test bed and also I use for graphics benchmarking. However if I try with the default 737 in 2D fluctates around 49-52 8big windowed mode as for big windowed external gives less than 40

What B787 panel .... who's it by .... what author are e talking about here Eduardo ? Care to elaborate ?
ALSO ....
Is your firewall, and security system generally, running in the background .... and/or what else have you got running in the background that could, conceivably, hogrob you of processing power performance ?
Are you running on a LAP TOP or a PC .... I've heard of FPS deterioration issues with LAP TOPs as their filters become clogged or otherwise soiled.
You say you "USED TO" get between 40-50 FPS, but, not now .... therefore if either of the last 3 possibilities aren't relevant, then, maybe you're developing RAM or PROCESSOR issues .... at "a guess only" .... BUT .... you also say the default MSFS B737 panel gives you better results and which suggests the B787 panel could be the problem .... "I suppose".
The human eye can't, really, see faster than around 25-30 FPS. I don't pay too much attention to FPS indications, but rather, are content that the simulastion is running smoothly and without any graphics stuttering.

Frame rates depend on numerous things and can be annoying when you suddenly get a drop.... First off clear all weather and go to some part of the world where you have just basic standard scenery using the stock 737 with no AI traffic. Use this as a starting point and check your FR, if its high then something in the sim is hitting your rates. After that introduce weather then check rates, then traffic etc etc until you find the bit that hits your FR. It could be rouge AI an update to your FS you have added, scenery weather prog or planes... Mark also has a point in that whats running in the background?? Windows 7 runs a lot more in the background than XP often over twice the amount or more, close down services that you do not need either by typing in msconfig.exe in the start- search progs box. you can see what is being called on when the pc is started and decide what you need and what you dont, trial and error...... RAM XP could not see over 3.25 Gb ram, Windows 7 can see lots more, now FS wont want all that but if a lot is being taken by other progs it reduces whats left for FS.... Have you installed any new PC progs recently?? These could be the resource hogging ones that eat your ram??? Again trial and error... No easy answer but a matter of looking at things in a structured way for the answer... The amount of time I have spent tweaking tuning my system is about double the time I spend flying fs
