Make it Stop. Make it Stop But seriously, every time I load up the DC-8 in FSX the Morse Code Sound goes off, and won't stop. It's like the Energizer Bunny: It just keeps on going and going, and going...you get the idea. So, how do you stop the MCS? I've changed the radio frequencies - all of them - I read Dan's post (that's Dan K. Hansen,) where he thought it might be because a VOR or NAV / NDB station might be tuned in...and that did not help. I'd be grateful for any help, Thrills and Chills

For starters .... there's no Morse Code sound that accompanies any of the the DC8's or their panel options. If you're referring to the Morse ID code associated with any Radio Aid/Beacon .... then .... so far as I know .... it "DOES NOT" auto-activate and it can't be activated from any the DC8 panel Radio Stack sub panels anyway, but rather, one would need temporarily load the MSFS CESSNA or any other default MfSFS aircraft/panel combination (as is the recommended procedure prior loading any add-on FS aircraft/simulation), and then manually activate/deactivate it from the Radio Stack of any of these default aircraft options .... THEN .... select ones DC8 simulation of choice. This's because FS will always transfer a previous FS scenarion/configuration (as selected) to the next scenario/situation/aircraft of choice. "ALWAYS" .... load a default MSFS aircraft type first .... THEN .... select the desired add-on aircraft of choice .... and do the same again also whenever changing aircraft tyoes within the same FS session. It it's a Morse Code, or Radio Aid/Beacon ID you're hearing .... THEN .... I'd say you've activated it from another (possibly default) panel option .... because, as I said above, its' not designed to auto-activate with any of the DC8's. Just load that other (default) simulation "before" selecting your DD8 of choice .... go to its Radio Stack .... and "TURN IT OFF" using the frequency ID tabs Mark C AKL/NZ

Well that's good news... What I did was, turn off power off the radio in the Airtrike (I think they call it;) then switched to the DC-8. That didn't do it; but when I changed locations, and went to a different airport, *that did.* I don't know how it self corrected, but for now, all's quiet. Thanks for the help. Thrills and Chills

Since as Mark mentioned there are no switches to allow you to turn the ID on/off on the DC-8 panels, you can resort to using the keyboard shortcuts to do it.
The following would be the steps if you're using FS9...I don't have FSX so I have no idea if the menus are similar, but the idea is the same:
Go to the Options menu, scroll to Controls > Assignments >
Look for the box "Event Category", and select "Radio Commands" from the drop-down menu.
You'll see a list of all the possible radio commands in the simulator. The morse code ID you hear could be from NAV1, NAV2, ADF1, or ADF2. The easiest thing would be to identify which needle in the cockpit is active, to know whether it's one of the VOR radios or one of the ADFs that's making the noise.
Just go through the menu to find the keyboard commands for "ADF1 ident on/off", "ADF2 ident on/off", "VOR1 ident on/off", and "VOR2 ident on/off". I don't know if Microsoft has any commands set by default, in my case I assigned Ctrl-1 and Ctrl-2 for VOR1 and VOR2, and Ctrl-3 and Ctrl-4 for the ADF1 and ADF2. If you are going to assign your own keys, be careful and read the pop-up windows, the simulator will tell you if the command is already being used for something else.
If you don't want to mess around with the above, Mark's suggestion of switching to a default aircraft like the 737, and turning the ID button off from that aircraft's radio panel before switching back to the DC-8 will do the trick.
Hope this helps some!

Bring up the Radar from within the cockpit. You can hide it off again if you wish. The noise won't return until you reload your flight from a 'save'.
