Hey comrades, I just lost my stand alone HD where I kept FSX backed up onto. Had many aircraft on there in a Hanger file, that I wasn't using at present. So anyway this is the 2nd HD I've lost in about 5 years, so I am at a loss of what to use to store stuff on. Both stand HD's were named brand last one a WD (Western Digital). Can't for the life of me figure out why I have so many problems with them. I just plug them in and leave them alone, just add files when needed. Also had about 6,000 pictures on it, so off to a computer "Specialist" to try to either repair and get it going or try to recover the files. Any suggestions from my fellow aviators? Falcon

I just use a simple low-teh method to back up all/most of my original files .... in that I just burn everything of any importance to a CD/DVD. HD´s can just "LET GO" anytime .... I´ve seen that happen (not to me though) even with a relatively new system less than, or a little more than, a year old. A specialist can usually recover data from any failed HD, but, there will/may inevitably be some data that´s irretrievable/"LOST" .... unfortunately. A failed HD can be a frustrating (even nail biting) situation, but, I "do" wish you luck Denny Mark C BOG/CO

Something else I can recommend is Google Drive. Cheaply priced and great for photos and computer files.
I uploaded all of our family photos their after my daughter died last year. Now I know they are safe.
