I had removed the default FSX DeHavilland Beaver and placed it on my stand alone HD as my Hanger. Now that HD has crashed and no way to recover anything off it except to spend big money. I tried just looking at the FSX install discs, but the Aircraft must be in a cabinet file as they don't show. Anyone know how to recover a default airplane off FSX discs? Falcon

Falcon....I assume that when your HD crashed you lost everything that was on it, not just MS FSX. If that is the case, then I would think you could do a complete re-install of FSX.
Unfortunately I do not know which disc contains the FSX Default Aircraft but I am certain one can find out from other sources.

Thanks Herman, No, I was just using the stand alone HD as a hanger for the Airplanes that I wasn't using much. When I wanted one I would copy it back into the main HD in FSX. So it was just storage for the Airplane files. Actually everything was backed up on it in case my main HD went caputt. So I'm just looking for the Beaver file. Can't search the FSX discs for it as airplanes don't show up as a folder when one searches the disk. Falcon

A "HANGAR FIRE" aye Denny .... "NASTY" .... sorry about that aulde son Givn that I understand your FSX installation is unaffected .... THEN .... I suspect the only/best way to resolve this particular inconvenience would be if "some kind person" (FSX user) were able to copy their own BEAVER files (I assume it´s a default FSX aircraft type rather than an add-on one) and then supply these to you (with all o the associated FDE, panel, sound, and texture data too .... I dunno how large a package this might promote though) as a single folder for you to then reinstall in FSX. Given that I undertand your own FSX gauges and effcts folders remain intact .... and still have all of the other necessary/vital components .... THEN .... that would/should enable you to get up and running again quite easily Any "kind and sypathetic" FSX user .... out there .... able and willing to possibly assist Denny in this manner ? Drop him/"FALCON" a forum PM .... if you can I´d be glad to try´n assist you myself Denny .... BUT .... I´m not an FSX user I´m sorry Mark C BOG/CO

Thanks Mark. Maybe I'll try to reload it over the top. Last time I did that I spent a couple of days recovering the a/c cfg files.

Loading the program over the top of an existing installation .... I´m not so sure that´s a very good idea Denny.
I´m kind of hoping some "kind/sympathetic soul/FSX user" might be inclined toward coming to your rescue by, hopefully, supplying you with the apprppriate replacement files to install .... and which, i feel, is the far better option.
Fingers crossed !!!!

Even tho my problem had nothing to do with HJG, both Mark and Herman came to my rescue, I can't thank them both enough for their time they spent, esp. Herman, who sent me the files needed. I hope I can repay them someday. Thanks guys. Your the "BEST". Falcon aka Denny H
