WAY BACK WHEN.
Early own, Dee was the aircraft designer and I was just a flightsimer who wanted a painted Delta DC-8 51/61. I emailed Dee about this but his painter had a long term emergency that he had to deal with so I waited. After about thirty days, and being totally impatient, I asked Dee if I could paint them and he agreed. I downloaded a free 30 day trial and began a huge task of painting 6 aircraft. There were a LOT of late hours devoted to this but I had a purpose! The last livery, I drew a blank on and so I turned to the message boards and asked what paint scheme should I consider next? The responses were long but one stuck out and for a valid reason. He stated that no one did a really good Air Canada version so I jumped all in. I wanted to make the best version available.
The secret to my designs were shading...artistic design to give a 3-D effect and then, I searched for REAL actual metal photographs and copy and pasted the images until they looked flawless. I NEVER would paint a dirty version for that was a flawed concept! My paint jobs had to be flawless. During this 30 day period, Dee was wanting to make the website inclusive to where it had to be downloaded only from there and nowhere else. I had much larger plans that I never shared with him. You see, all the models that I painted, I uploaded to Avsim along with the sounds as well as the panel for a COMPLETE package for all to enjoy and all was completely free of charge! This won Dee his first major award which is what I had intended on doing! I wanted HJG to get the recognition that it properly deserved and this was my way of making it happen. Granted, if I would have had an extra $200.00 for photoshop, I would have continued and still would have been an active painter today...I ALWAYS see things that can be improved but that is just the artistic side of me. So,, when they ask for your donations, it is to keep the "DREAM" going without ALWAYS being personally funded. Please contribute whatever you can and keep the dream alive...maybe one day, they will have a virtual cockpit and cabin!
