"THANK YOU" everyone
1.01: "INTRODUCTION".
It is important to appreciate there is no such thing as a standard B727 aircraft. B727 aircraft differ in terms of their size, engine power ratings, and certified weights, and other post production aerodynamic modifications.
Most previously released B727 simulations focus on just a number of specific engine and weight related configurations for each class of B727 aircraft. The B727 flight line offered by HJG represent each of the most common production versions, as well as some of the most major post production modifications applied to this aircraft family.
PLEASE NOTE: HJG B727 AIRCRAFT BASE PACKS, AND SMOKE EFFECTS, ARE FS2004 COMPATIBLE AND FSX PORTABLE.
ALL INSTALLATION PROCEDURES DRAFTED WITHIN THESE NOTES ARE FS2004 SPECIFIC. FSX USERS MUST REFER TO THE "FSX" SPECIFIC INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS WHICH ACCOMPANY EACH FILE.
PLEASE NOTE ALSO: THESE B727 PANELS MAY NOT WORK AS INTENDED IF USED WITH NON-HJG SUPPLIED B727 MODEL AND FDE COMBINATIONS.

"BOEING 727 MODEL ANIMATIONS"
All HJG supplied PAX version 3D B727-200 V2.0 models feature opening/animated ventral/rear fuselage air stairs and Door 1L forward fuselage exits with folding air stairs .... within the following range limitations.
All HJG supplied freighter/SCD version 3D B727-200 V2.0 models feature opening/animated ventral/rear fuselage air stairs and port side forward fuselage main deck cargo doors .... as well as opening/animated door 1L forward fuselage exits with folding air stairs.
All Door 1 forward fuselage exit folding air stairs, rear fuselage ventral air stairs, and port side forward fuselage main deck cargo door animations (B727-200 SCD subjects only), are controlled per "TAILHOOK, CONCORDE VISOR (EXTEND/RETRACT)", and "WINGFOLD" keyboard commands. These keyboard commands must be "manually assigned" within FS OPTIONS/CONTROLS/ASSIGNMENTS.
- SHIFT + E (open/close Door 1L)
- SHIFT + "CONCORDE VISOR FULLY EXTEND"/F6 (extend folding air stairs)
- SHIFT + "CONCORDE VISOR FULLY RETRACT"/F7 (retract folding air stairs)
- SHIFT + "WINGFOLD" commands (open/close ventral air stairs)
- SHIFT + "TAILHOOK" commands (open/close port side forward fuselage main deck cargo door on all B727-200 freighter/SCD model subjects only .... and starboard side lower forward fuselage cargo hatch on all B727-100 model subjects)
Failure to correctly assign these keyboard commands will result in these animations not functioning.
PLEASE NOTE: The "CONCORDE VISOR FULLY EXTEND/RETRACT" keyboard commands (to animate the folding air stairs at Door 1L) are based on "FS2004 assignments. This animation "cannot" work in FSX. The CONCORDE VISOR commands in FSX are based on a different combination of keyboard assignments .... which "are not" compatible with any of these B727-100/-200 3D models.
PLEASE NOTE ALSO: All HJG supplied PAX version 3D B727-100 V1.0 models feature opening/animated ventral/rear fuselage air stairs and Door 1L forward fuselage exits but no folding air stairs animations (that is how these models were supplied to us).
PLEASE NOTE ADDITIONALLY: All HJG supplied freighter/SCD version 3D B727-100 V1.0 models feature opening/animated ventral/rear fuselage air stairs and Door 1L forward fuselage exits but no folding air stairs or port side forward fuselage main deck cargo door animations.
1.08: "GENERAL INSTALLATION INFORMATION".
Installation of all HJG supplied B727 files is a very easy step-by-step process but should be completed strictly in accordance with the recommended installation procedures which accompany each file download or difficulties may result.
EACH OF THE B727 PANELS MUST BE USED WITH THE CORRECT AIRCRAFT BASE PACK VERSION OR PROBLEMS "WILL" RESULT.
IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT THE FOLLOWING AIRCRAFT BASE PACK/PANEL/SOUND PACK ASSIGNMENT NOTES BE STUDIED AND UNDERSTOOD PRIOR TO INSTALLING ANY OF THESE FILES. DOING THIS WILL AVOID MISUNDERSTANDINGS/PROBLEMS AND WILL BE PROMOTING OF GREATER OVERALL ENJOYMENT OF THESE SIMULATIONS.
1.09: "B727 AIRCRAFT BASE PACK INSTALLATION (default FS2004 only procedures)".
Each HJG supplied B727 Aircraft Base Pack file must be installed inside the FS2004 "AIRCRAFT" folder.
Each HJG supplied B727 Aircraft Base Pack file is composed the following essential elements ....
- MODEL (folder)
- PANEL (folder .... aliased to default MSFS B737-400 Panel)
- SOUND (folder .... aliased to default MSFS B737-400 Sound)
- AIRCRAFT.CFG (file)
- AIR.FILE (file)
- ADDITIONAL TEXTURES (folder .... containing 2 additional BMP files)
- INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS (document)
- HJG EULA (document)
Each individual B727-200 Aircraft Base Pack folder features a container entitled "ADDITIONAL TEXTURES". Inside this folder are 2 texture BMP files which are specific to the models contained within each base pack. Both of these new texture BMP files" must be copied & pasted inside each and every individual texture folder assigned to that particular base pack. These texture BMP´s detail the new air-stairs and/or winglet features associated with each new V2.0 B727-200 model.
All B727 Aircraft Base Pack files are available from the HJG "B727-100" and "B727-200" downloads pages.
PLEASE NOTE: Separate FS2004 and FSX specific AIRCRAFT.CFG FILES are contained within each HJG supplied B727 Aircraft Base Pack file.
PLEASE NOTE ALSO: The AIR.FILE data provided within each HJG supplied B727 Aircraft Base Pack file is dual FS2004 and FSX compatible.
PLEASE NOTE ADDITIONALLY: AIR.FILE data within each B727-200/F ADVANCED Aircraft Base Pack is identically named (in order to aid/simplify texture/FLTSIM.XX assignments) .... but .... the data contained within each Aircraft Base Pack "IS" different and specific to each aircraft/engine type configuration. This data should not be separated from each Aircraft Base Pack version. Failure to ensure this "WILL" impact the performance of each individual simulation.
1.10: "B727 PANEL INSTALLATION (default FS2004 only procedures)".
Each HJG supplied B727 Panel file should be installed inside the FS2004 "FSFSCONV" folder.
The FSFSCONV folder is located inside the FS2004 "AIRCRAFT" folder. This recommended installation procedure has been a standard HJG practice over many years past and results in more sensible (we believe) Panel/Aircraft Base Pack aliasing.
The PANEL.CFG file contained inside the default Panel folder supplied with each B727 Aircraft Base Pack file must be aliased to the FSFSCONV folder and the appropriate B727 aircraft type panel .... as per either of the following specimens ....

or ....
[fltsim]
alias=fsfsconv\panel.b727-200_adv_super_27_leaps_v2
It is recommended the above panel ALIAS= data (for each individual aircraft/panel engine type version) be "copied & pasted" directly to the default PANEL.CFG file of the corresponding aircraft/engine type in order to avoid potential for typographical errors that will result in these panels not displaying with the selected/installed simulation.
The entire contents (only) of the B727 Panel Gauges/Core Files "GAUGES" container (2X files) must be installed inside the FS2004 "GAUGES" folder.
The entire contents (only) of the B727 Panel Gauges/Core Files "SOUNDS" container (89 X WAV samples) must be installed inside the FS2004 "SOUND" folder (this is the "SOUND" folder inside the "FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9" folder directory and not the default Sound folder inside each aircraft base pack file).
All B727 panels are available from the "B727 PANELS" section of the HJG "BOEING PANELS" downloads page.
Failure to perform either of the above steps correctly "WILL" result in these B727 panels not working properly.
PLEASE NOTE: Use each B727-200 aircraft type/engine type base pack with the above recommended aircraft panel/engine type panel version or difficulties may result.

1.11: "B727 SOUND PACKS INSTALLATION (default FS2004 only procedures)".
All HJG supplied B727 sound packs must be installed inside the recommended Aircraft Base Pack folder in order to ensure optimum audio playback quality. These sound packs are compiled in accordance with FDE data. These sound packs are intended to replace the default Sound folders (aliased to the MDFS B737 sounds) supplied with each B727 Aircraft Base Pack file.
3 distinctly different aircraft/engine type sound pack versions (compiled by Benoit PLAMONDON) have been customized for use with HJG supplied B727-100/-200 simulations as follows ....
- B727 P&W JT8D-7
- B727 P&W JT8D-17
- B727 P&W JT8D-217
PLEASE NOTE: P&W JT8D-9 and P&W JT8D-15 specific audio is not provided since there insufficient tonal difference exist between these engine types and what is provided, so, do not qualify for production.
PLEASE NOTE ALSO: Customized "AI (AI Traffic), "FD" (Flight Deck), and "WV" (Wing/Cabin View) specific versions of each soundpack are provided. These are described as follows ....
"AI"/AI TRAFFIC SPECIFIC SOUND PACKS: These particular sound pack versions are intended for use by those seeking high-quality audio for their AI B727 Traffic only. Separate "AI" labelled sound packs are compiled for each of the 3 B727 aircraft/engine types provided by HJG. These AI specific sound packs are intended for "FSX use only". Do not use these sound packs with UI/standard aircraft base pack files in either FSX or FS2004. Be sure to download and install the correct aircraft/engine type specific sound pack as prescribed below.
"FD"/FLIGHT DECK SPECIFIC SOUND PACKS: These particular sound pack versions are intended for use by those seeking high-quality audio based on what can be heard internally and from an exclusively "flight deck" perspective only .... whilst also featuring customized external audio too. What is heard on the flight deck is quite different from what is heard in the PAX cabin environment on any aircraft. For e.g .... using these particular sound packs one will be treated to the predominant sound of flight deck based avionics and wind friction noise in proportion to the simulations inflight acceleration but with much less audible engine noise .... and .... when selecting both flaps and landing gear one will hear the "click" of the associated levers along with the muffled "rumble" of the landing gear extension and the associated gear wind noise .... and a whole lot more. Separate "FD" labelled versions of these aircraft/engine type sound packs are provided for FSX and FS2004 specific use. Be sure to download and install the correct FS version and aircraft/engine type sound pack as prescribed below.
"WV"/WING VIEW/CABIN SPECIFIC SOUND PACKS: These sound packs are intended for use by those seeking high-quality audio based on what can be heard internally and from an exclusively "PAX cabin" perspective only.... whilst also featuring customized external audio too. What is heard in the PAX cabin environment is quite different to what is heard on the flight deck on any aircraft. For e.g .... using these particular sound packs one will be treated to the predominant sound of cabin air conditioning and a different type wind friction noise in proportion to the simulations inflight acceleration but with more audible engine noise .... and .... when selecting both flaps and landing gear one will hear the associated flap motors along with a different type of muffled "rumble" of the landing gear extension and gear wind noise .... and a whole lot more. Separate "WV" labelled versions of these aircraft/engine type sound packs are provided for FSX and FS2004 specific use. Be sure to download and install the correct FS version and aircraft/engine type specific sound pack as prescribed below.
PLEASE NOTE ADDITIONALLY: These sound packs may be used with non-HJG supplied B727 simulations, but, will not work properly "unless HJG compiled FDE (both the CFG and AIR.FILE data) is used with other simulations". Each of these sound packs are compiled on the basis of HJG supplied FDE parameters. HJG compiled FDE (CFG files principally) may require further editing in order become fully compatibility with other/non-HJG supplied B727 simulations. HJG "CANNOT", at this time, provide assistance/support for its files when used with non-HJG simulations.
All B727 sound packs are available from the "B727 SOUNDS" section of the "BOEING SOUNDS" downloads page.
RECOMMENDED FS AUDIO/SOUND SLIDER SETTINGS
These settings can vary according to both audio equipment and personal preference. For optimum playback quality the following FS2004 based OPTIONS/SETTINGS/SOUND based sliders positions are recommended for use with each of the 3 HJG hosted B727 sound packs ....
FS2004 VERSION SOUND PACKS
- "ENGINES" = 65%
- "cockpit = 30%
- "ENVIRONMENT" = 80%
FSX VERSION SOUND PACKS
- "ENGINES" = 70%
- "cockpit" = as required/preferred
- "ENVIRONMENT" = 100%
Experiment with the above recommended settings first and be prepared to adjust these in accordance with audio hardware capabilities and personal preference.

1.12: "SMOKE EFFECTS".
All HJG B727 Aircraft Base Packs are configured to use the standard HJG supplied B367-80/B707/B720 smoke effects files.
These smoke effects files are currently available from the "AIRCRAFT EFFECTS" downloads section on the HJG website.
All HJG supplied smoke effects must be installed inside the FS9/FS2004 "EFFECTS" folder .... in accordance with accompanying installation instructions.
PLEASE NOTE: When used with HJG supplied B727 panels (only) these smoke effects are "auto-generating" at high engine RPM.
PLEASE NOTE ALSO: If using non-HJG supplied B727 panels with these simulations these smoke effects must be "manually toggled" ON/OFF using the standard FS keyboard "I" smoke command.
1.13: "B727 TEXTURE FILES".
HJG provide well in excess of 200 individual airline/operator liveries for both B727-100 and B727-200 simulations. This selection is constantly growing with most HJG website updates. HJG´s selection of B727 liveries/texture represent a wide range of both classic and lesser known liveries spanning the 1960´s, 70´s, 80´s, 90´s era and up to relatively recent times.
Any B727-100 texture file can be applied to any B727-100 Aircraft Base Pack model. B727-100 textures are not compatible with B727-200 models.
Any B727-200 texture file can be applied to any B727-200 Aircraft Base Pack model. B727-200 textures are not compatible with B727-100 models.
Select the texture/s of choice .... this will determine which particular Aircraft Base Pack/s are required.
In order to determine what liveries/textures should be used with which Aircraft Base Packs and 3D models .... refer to the following linked HJG B727 TEXTURE INVENTORY ....
tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/6297/vl-hjg-b727-texture-inventory
Open the above linked "B727 TEXTURE INVENTORY".
Scroll down to the B727-200 SERIES listings.
Locate ones aircraft texture subject/s of choice .... per its aircraft type name, airline identity, livery date (and aircraft registration in some cases too).
Note the recommended Aircraft Base Pack and Model assignments listed beside each subject.
Apply that particular texture subject of choice to the recommended Aircraft Base Pack file .... THEN .... edit the recommended Model file name for that particular texture into the MODEL= data line within FLTSIM.XX component/s of the AIRCRAFT.CFG file .... and then "SAVE THAT EDIT".
Each individual B727-200 SERIES aircraft base pack file contains a new container entitled "ADDITIONAL TEXTURES". The contents of this container (2 texture BMP files). must be copied & pasted inside "each and every individual texture folder" assigned to that particular base pack. These additional texture BMP files detail the air-stairs and/or winglet features associated with each new V2.0 B727-200 model.
All B727 textures are available from the HJG "B727-100" and "B727-200" downloads pages.
PLEASE NOTE: Failure to perform either of the above steps correctly will result in these B727 models and/or their textures not displaying within the MSFS Aircraft Selection Menu.
PLEASE NOTE ALSO: Some of the new HJG B727-200 SERIES models (only) contained within each Aircraft Base Pack may not yet be represented by airline/operator textures. HJG will grow into using these models in due course. In the meantime .... a set of fully detailed blank/white tail PAX and freighter version aircraft texture sets are provided by HJG for use with any these models and may be downloaded "HERE" ....
www.simviation.com/hjg/publicpaintkits/hjg_b727-200__blank_textures.zip
Installation instructions for these blank textures .... along with various FLTSI.XX base pack options for these also .... are included within the ZIP file.
1.14: "EASIER IDENTIFICATION - MSFS AIRCRAFT SELECTION MENU"
This information is "purely optional" on the part of the end user.
All HJG B727-100/200 subjects will/should, by default, appear within the MSFS Aircraft Selection Menu in accordance with the following
designations ....
- Boeing 727-100
- Boeing 727-100C
- Boeing 727-100F
- Boeing 727-100QC
- Boeing 727-100QC/IGW
- Boeing 727-200
- Boeing 727-200F
- Boeing 727-200 ADV
- Boeing 727-200F ADV
- Boeing 727-200 RE SUPER 27
- Boeing 727-200F RE SUPER 27
These designations are governed by the information is edited into the UI MANUFACTURER data line (which for these aircraft subjects always reads "BOEING") and the UI TYPE data line (which for all these aircraft subjects always reads "727" .... followed by the specific aircraft series type name) within the texture/FLTSINM.XX component/s of any AIRCRAFT.CFG file.
PLEASE NOTE: These MSFS Aircraft Selection Menu designations can be made to read more specifically and in accordance with actual aircraft/engine type configurations .... "if desired".
Given the variation of aircraft/engine type base pack options now offered by HJG .... this is (perhaps) not a silly idea and is very easily accomplished as follows ....
Simply edit the UI TYPE data line .... after its aircraft type designation .... to read in accordance with the actual Aircraft Base Pack engine type designation as follows ....
In the case of a P&W JT8D-7 powered B727-100 aircraft ....
UI TYPE=727-100 JT8D-7
Or in the case of a P&W JT8D-9 powered B727-100 aircraft ....
UI TYPE=727-100 JT8D-9
Or in the case of a P&W JT8D-7 powered B727-200 aircraft ....
UI TYPE=727-200 JT8D-7
In the case of a P&W JT8D-9 powered B727-200 aircraft ....
UI TYPE=727-200 JT8D-9
Or in the case of a P&W JT8D-7 powered B727-200 ADVANCED aircraft ....
UI TYPE=727-200 ADV JT8D-7
Or in the case of a P&W JT8D-9 powered B727-200 ADVANCED aircraft ....
UI TYPE=727-200 ADV JT8D-9
Or in the case of a P&W JT8D-15 powered B727-200 ADVANCED aircraft ....
UI TYPE=727-200 ADV JT8D-15
Or .... in the case of a P&W JT8D-17 powred B727-200 ADVANCED aircraft ....
UI TYPE=727-200 ADV JT8D-17
etc
The above examples .... when applied to the UI TYPE data line component of any AIRCRAFT.CFG file will then force the MSFS Aircraft Selection Menu to display these installations in accordance with their manufacturer, aircraft type, and engine type names .... thereby clarifying the precise configuration of each installation. In the case each of the above specimens these subjects will then appear within the MSFS Aircraft Selection Menu as follows ....
"Boeing
727-100 JT8D-7"
Or ....
"Boeing
727-100 JT8D-9"
Or ....
"Boeing
727-200 JT8D-7"
Or ....
"Boeing
727-200 JT8D-9"
Or ....
"Boeing
727-200 ADV JT8D-7"
Or ....
"Boeing
727-200 ADV JT8D-9"
Or ....
"Boeing
727-200 ADV JT8D-15"
Or ....
"Boeing
727-200 JT8D-17"
etc
If desired .... the specific model file name/suffix may also be added .... in order to even further define the exact configuration of any installed/displayed aircraft version.
1.15: "KNOWN ISSUES".
Some "VERY MINOR" issues are known to exist among the HJG hosted VISTALINERS B727 simulations .... HOWEVER .... the end user is not, in any way, disadvantaged by these. The minor flaws which are known to exist are as follows ....
- The white wingtip strobe lighting on "some" HJG supplied B727 models may appear displaced during flight. This is due to the GMAX wing flex effect during flight and this lighting not being hard coded into the 3D model/s.
- Both port and starboard outboard aileron surfaces function correctly (in opposing axis) in response to control input whilst on the ground, but, function incorrectly (both deflecting in the same axis) in response to control input during manual flight. This "DOES NOT" affect flight performance. This particular issue affects the B727-200 V2 simulations only. The solution to this particular issue has been found and will be applied to future B727-200 aircraft base packs .... as soon as these can be released.
- An issue has been reported in relation to the MG and NG Contact Points for all V2.0 B727-200 3D models.
PLEASE NOTE: This issue "DOES NOT" apply to any of the V1.0 B727-100 3D models.
Apply this revision as follows ....
Open the AIRCRAFT .CFG filer for each V2.0 B727-200 version (only).
Scroll down to the CONTACT POINTS section.
Delete the entire existent CONTACTS POINTS section data .... and replace it with the new/revised CONTACT POINTS data section below ....

The above CONTACT POINTS revision "WILL"/should satisfactorily resolve this particular issue .... "DO NOT" apply this edit to any B727-100 version
- A typographical error has been noted within the AIRCRAFT.CFG stated WEIGHT & BALANCE data for a number of the V2 B727-200's we currently offer. The STATION LOAD entries for some (not all) B727-200's do not currently read in numerical sequence. These should be edited so as to then read "in numerical sequence". This error barely (if at all) impacts flight handling characteristics for each of the implicated B27-200's, but, should be manually edited/corrected anyway. The fix will be mandatorily applied to future B737-200 aircraft base packs .... as soon as these can be released.
- Wing Views "are not" not featured among any of our B727-200's .... these are an element associated with the 3D models and not CFG data. The Wing Views associated with the original V1 B727-200 3D models were lost during recompilation of the newer models we currently offer. This particular issue "DOES NOT" affect the B727-100 3D models we currently offer as these are still the original V1 productions .... though this may change in the future.
"PLEASE" .... do not contact us in regard to the above-mentioned issues. HJG may, in time, be able to rectify these. Once again these particular issues are
"EXTREMELY MINOR" and "WILL NOT" detract from anyones enjoyment of any these otherwise fine simulations.
1.16: A FEW FINAL WORDS.
Any features of these simulations (particularly in regard to the panels) not covered within these notes are more than adequately discussed within the "B727 MANUAL" available on the "B727 PANELS" section of the HJG "BOEING PANELS" downloads page. It is recommended this information be downloaded and studied carefully
It is important to appreciate the supplied B727 panels represent fairly complex FS engineering .... and re-engineering by HJG.
Each file provided has been individually checked for functionality prior to uploading.
Each file provided was noted to perform "FINE" .... or it simply would not be uploaded here.
Despite this and our endeavours to provide the best possible classic/historic jetliner "FREEWARE", it is not inconceivable that some oversights might have occurred, or, that difficulties might be encountered by some .... perhaps due only to the extensive variability among PC systems today rather than end user faults. HJG will try and assist troubleshooting any reported issues that arise, but "kindly understand" that whatever occurs on one PC system "may not be universally experienced". All issues should be addressed on the "BOEING AIRCRAFT SUPPORT" page of the HJG forum.

PLEASE NOTE ALSO: LEAPS and QW2 aircraft subjects feature a maximum FLAP 25 detente .... only when used with their corresponding HJG supplied LEAPS & QW2 panel options.
PLEASE NOTE ADDITIONALLY: WL featured aircraft subjects reflect reduced drag/fuel burn performance.
1.06: "AIRCRAFT/ENGINE TYPE PANELS & FEATURES".
The HJG B727 project is composed of each of the following major aircraft panel configurations ....
- B727-100 early panel - (P&W JT8D-7 .... non-INS/AT equipped)
- B727-100 late panel - (P&W JT8D-9 .... non-INS/AT equipped)
- B727-200 panel (P&W JT8D-7 .... INS equipped)
- B727-200 panel (P&W JT8D-9 .... INS equipped)
- B727-200 ADV panel (P&W JT8D-7 .... INS/AT equipped)
- B727-200 ADV panel (P&W JT8D-9 .... INS/AT equipped)
- B727-200 ADV panel (P&W JT8D-15 .... INS/AT equipped)
- B727-200 ADV panel (P&W JT8D-17 .... INS/AT equipped)
- B727-200 ADV LEAPS & QW2 panel (P&W JT8D-17 .... INS/AT equipped, and FLAP 25 max detente)
- B727-200 ADV RE SUPER 27 panel (INS/AT equipped & number 1/3 engine TR´s only)
- B727-200 ADV RE SUPER 27 LEAPS panel (INS/AT equipped, FLAP 25 max detente, and number 1/3 engine TR´s only)
These panels may look similar, but, each differs in respect of being AT/non-AT or INS/non-INS equipped, thrust reverser configuration, maximum flap detentes .... and engine type gauges calibration. For these reasons each aircraft/engine type panel configuration must be used with the correct corresponding aircraft/engine type Aircraft Base Pack version or performance issues "WILL" result. SEE SECTION 1.12 (below) for the correct Aircraft Base Pack/Panel assignments.
