I recently installed the 707-138 alluded to in the subject line. Installed the panel for that in fssconv as instructed and all that. However about 70 percent of the time, when it loads it only loads to about 80 percent and then FSX shuts down with an error of sometimes, module name, unknown or Boeing 707 gauge. Now I have downloaded the files 3 times, extracted them to a temp file and copied them over as directed. Why it sometimes loads is a puzzle, esp. after I load a default FSX aircraft. Any ideas out there? I know FSX is not used much by most, but.....I love it. Falcon Oh ya, the other 707's work just fine!

Falcon....if you have read the previous thread about the 707 Problem you will see that I recently did a test flight with the 707-138. I did not have any sort of a problem installing that aircraft into FSX. It showed up perfectly and flew perfectly, but the install instructions must be followed to the letter.
Since you did not have any problems with other 707 installations I would not know why the 707-138 does not work for you.
I have recently experienced a similar problem to what you describe where FSX shuts down during the loading process. That problem was due to some third party airport software. Once I deleted that software the problem was eliminated.

Oh, Thanks Herman. I have to check that out as I think that might be the culprit.

Are you saying that particular "gauge file error" also comes up sometimes .... but .... not all the time Denny ?
Try to identify "precisely" what that message states .... and report back.
BUT .... try also removing and then reinstalling the files first .... as I mentioned this morning in "R22S7's" thread on this forum page.
There are/shold be no particular issues (there's certainly nothing known to us) that might cause this .... other than a possible gauge cincompatibility of conflict with something ele ion your system. These simulatuionms have been around here for a klomg time .... since 2006 in fact .... and are generally well understoood in themselves
Unfortunately though .... in cases of potential file conflicts and ibcompatibilities at least .... these sorts of issue can be incredibly difficult (next to impossiblr) to troubleshoot or even understand .... BUT .... try doing a file removeal and reinstall for starters.

Thanks Mark and Herman. I had installed a new scenery Demo file for New York City area after I had installed the 707-138 as it worked fine to begin with. At Herman suggestions I removed it yesterday and bingo, it ran just great! Why it only affected that particular installation is beyond me, but with computers, pretty much everything is beyond my comprehension at this point. Thanks guys. And Mark, yes I reistalled the files 3 times to no avail. Cheers, Falcon, aka Denny

Glad to hear Denny that you were able to resolve your problem.
My issue come to light when I installed into FS2004 two South African airports ( Johannesburg and Cape Town ). They were both downloads from freeware scenery.

Yes Herman, many freeware scenery files really messes with FSX even tho they are suppose to be for FSX. Thanks my friend for all your help. Denny Aka Falcon

Sometimes .... what can happen Denny, in the case of very complex sceneries at least, these can take a lot longer to load into FS, and if one also selects an aircraft model, or aircraft model/panel/sound combination that's similarly complex to load into that scenery together (during the aircraft and scenery selection process) too, then, things can take longer again to load into FS .... and possibly even stall FS too .... depending on processing resources etc. Sometimes it pays to load a scenery with a default FS aircraft first .... THEN .... make an alternative aircraft selection and load that to load into the scenery separately .... otherwise the compexities can, possibly, overwhelm some lesser resourced systemss .... Makes perfect sense to me Mark. I will have to try that. It also happens when I'm using Real Time Weather, which again is loading more complex files, so your observations seem to be right on! You guys are so smart! Thanks for everything you all do there at HJG. I say there, but I know you are spread around the globe. Cheers Denny

YEP .... real world weather can also be another factor too.
Essentially .... the more complex the data loaded into FS, then, the longer it may take to load .... on some systms.
Thanks for the kind sentiments too BTW .... appreciated muchly :0
