OMG, if there is only one scenery that you buy this year, make sure it's this one. I have been in flightsim since version 3 for the commodore Amiga/PC and when FS changed to FS5, there was one place that you always started, Meigs Field Chicago. When the airport was bulldozed post 911, FS made the decision to scrap the scenery too and move the startup flight to KSEA. Now FTX ORBX has re released Meigs Field in amazing detail and I for one was first in line to grab it. It is amazing the old memories that come back taking off and doing a circuit there! Off to have some more fun, Cheers, Nathan Visit here to have a look
ps: Sorry for sounding like an advert, I'm just so excited

Hi Nathan:
As I was with FS3 too Meigs was a nice place and after FS3 it was a challenge to bring the Learjet in. Even in real an unlucky Cessna Citation once didnt make it.
Kind regards
Walter

Hi friends: For those who stood with FS9 there is still a nice default scenery of Chicago Meigs. Take Off and Landing a very light DC9-30 with JT8D-17 engines is also possible. Kind regards Walter

Nice screenshot Walter. I have one question about your shot: How do you get that 'landing-sheet' with all the flap-speeds and T/O-speeds? I have the HJG DC-9, but I never saw that sheet. Maybe I have missed a clickspot or something similar. Klaus PS: Were your brakes ok after the landing or did they had to be replaced due strong braking?

Hi Klaus: The Speed sheet you call with shift 6, clicking on the ASI will bring the white marks on it according to your actual configuration. The speed sheet you can change from T.O to landing clicking on it left above. I only moved the speed sheet up for not having it down above the engine instruments. Braking was not so hard. Speedbrakes and reversers did most of the job. Important is to "fly" near the calculated VREF. The HJG DC9s are very goood! Kind regards Walter Rem: Thanks GOD this IDIOT with his sailboat missed me!

Just an important procedural detail in regard to the HJG supplied DC-9 panels .... and setting the ASI speed bugs in particular .... ALWAYS .... adjust fuel and/or payload loadings "first" (of course) .... BUT THEN .... it's important to next click on the Weight Calculator gauge too (before clicking on the ASI gauge) .... in order for the simulations weight to be computed correctly .... THEN .... AND ONLY THEN .... click on the ASI gauge "afterward" in order for the speed bugs to be set correctlt and in accordance with the computed weight of the simulation for either T/O and/or landing. "IF" .... one fails to click on the Weight Calculator gauge "FIRST"(located within the center lower portion of the Main Panel .... to the right of the VSI gauge) .... and before clickihg on the ASI gauge ..... then the airspeed bugs may be set incorrectly Just a small, but important, procedural detail to remember, and implement, when using any of the HJG supplied DC-9 panels Mark C AKL/NZ

Thanks Mark! As I did not click on the wheight calulator I could have "flown" still slower and maybe stopped without wheelbrakes!
The DC9 panels are wunderful.

I omitted (forgot) to mention .... The Flaps (a particdular T/O flap setting) must also be set .... "PRIOR TO" .... clicking on the ASI gauge in order to adjust/set the V-Ref apeed bugs for T/O. T/O V-Ref speeds will (obviously) differ in accordance with selected flap settings .... of course. So the correct/ted procedure should be as follows .... 1. Adjust payload and/or fuel loadings 2. Click on the Weight Calgulator gauge .... ito compute the simulations weight 3. Set T/O flaps. 4. Click on the ASI gauge .... to set the airspeed bugs in conjunction with both the computed weight of the simulation and selected flap setting Sorry about that All of this is practiceable, and works well, within each of the HJG supplied DC-9 panels. Thanks Walter and Mark for those important procedures for operating the speed bugs and flaps of the DC-9.
@walter: Glad that the speedbrakes and thrust reservers had done their job perfectly. Maybe I will try it myself, but before that I have to dust off my knowledge of using the HJG DC-9.

Kind of off topic here, but Meigs field sure brings back memories. I have a free scenery file for FSX and it's not to shabby. I remember going in and out of there many years ago, even with a Falcon. After unloading passengers we had to ferry to another aerodrome for fuel and take off. It was summer with 90 + degree heat. At any rate many times I visited this and it was always an experience due to the real scenery and activity there. Was a very busy place back in the 1960's.
