With the recent release of version V5.4 of our DC-8 line up, we will have new and improved sound packages. Here I will be posting a number of previews as each soundpacks as they are close to be released, showing each different type of engines which powered all DC-8 series as McDonnell-Douglas improved its performance during its development over the years.
These sounpacks have been in development for some time now, it takes lots of time, intricate programming and good recordings to arrive with these results to make them interact properly with both FS9 and FSX, I try to capture/reproduce how they actually sounded. I use only FSX as the previews will show, however all soundpacks will be made available for both platforms, with external and flightdeck views versions only as well as for FSX ai traffic.
Enjoy the sneak previews.

Nice video and equally nice (no, they're better than nice!) engine-sounds.
This video looks almost as if those virtual Diesel-Eights were captured via a real-life video camera.
Well done Benoit!

Throughout my own 40 (odd) years of assocation with civil aviation there´s any number of sights .... and "SOUNDS" in particular .... that I´ll never, ever, forget. One´s the unmistakeable and very unique tone of the GE CF6-50 turbofan engines .... as cowled on both the DC-10-15 and DC-10-30 .... already beautifully captured by Benoit and offered here at HJG .... www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tymxj1Yarjk.... and the other´s gotta to be the equally unmistakebale and "VERY" unique (idle) rasp of the P&W JT3D (series) fanjet engines .... as cowled on both the later series DC-8´s (and B707´s) .... the subject of this latest presentation by Benoit."BOTH" .... have left an indeleble impression upon me Each of these sounds come from an era when jetliners both looked, and sounded, like all jetliners should. Benoit .... your video production is always "a treat to watch/behold" .... BUT .... the quality of your FS audio work is "S-O-M-E-T-H-I-N-G E-L-S-E" again You´ve captured/absolutely nailed .... "B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L-L-Y" .... the "unique rasp" of the classic P&W JT3D-7 fanjet engine idle sound in this particular case .... "SUPERBLY DONE".I certainly look forward to your following P&W JT3D SERIES audio/visual presentations .... not to mention the final product too Mark C BOG/CO

I'm speechless If Mozart was far and away the greatest composer of Classical music, then surely Benoit is far and away the greatest composer of Classical jet engine sounds. Especially the beautiful sounds of the JT3s. Thank you for all your hard work Benoit.

I do appreciate all the very kind comments and appreciation. For those of us who were lucky enough to be part of that era, those classic jetliners made up part of the fleet of so many airlines, it is forever marked and part of our auditory memory. Benoit

UMMMM .... theý´re "not" available yet "RODO" .... and everyone What Benoit´s previewing above is the "NEW" soundpack version (P&W JT3D-7 only .... for DC-63 and DC-8-62H/HF .... in this particular case) and whioch intended to replace the soundpack we´re currently offer for this same version of our DC-8 simulations .... "once released" Benoit appàrently intends to preview "NEW" soundpacks (later on/at his convenience) for our other DC-8 versions in due course also. My understanding is both flightdeck as well as wing/cabin view based audio, will likely be provided .... and for which separate FS2004 and FSX audio will also be offered .... as has recently been the case with our new B727 and DC-10 audio. This .... "flightdeck and onboard evironment" audio-visual presentation .... like Benoit´s preceding external sounds presentation at the start of this thread .... is not only "VERY ACCURATE" .... but also .... "BLOODY GOOD" too During the 1970´s, 80´s, and extending into the very early 1990´s .... I was fortunate enough to enjoy the privillege of a number of flights, on DC-8´s (52´s primarily .... as well the -63 also and which was my last ever DC-8 trip), in the jump-seat .... and which included being able to observe both T/O and landing phases during these flights (JEEZE .... try requesting/achieving that in todays civil aviation environment and see what happens next ) and "THIS VIDEO" certainly brings back some very enjoyble, and much missed, memories for me. ANYWAY .... I just want to say .... What Benoit´s prepared here (and rememember .... what he´s presented, so far, is for the "DC-8 SUPER 63" only (JT3D-7 type fanjet engines) since his new audio, for each of our other DC-8 versions, will follow/be added in due course) is about "as good as it can ever possibly get" .... for FS !!!! I additionally feel that the like of this particular fligthdeck focussed video production .... could/might, with the appropriate oratory descriptions being included/added .... become the foundation for an audio-visual type tutorial version of our current manuals for each simulation. Just another "IDEA"/brainstorm I´m chewing over for potential future reference FOLKS .... This latest audio-visual preview of Benoit´s "NEW" HJG DC-8 soundpacks, is available for viewing within "his first posting above" .... and will be accompanied by each of his other previews (featuring new soundpacks for each of our other DC-8 versions) as these are produced. "THANK YOU" Benoit .... for this great labour of love, on your part, and for the future benefit of everyone elses free FS enjoyment at HJG Mark C BOG/CO
