Hi everyone,
I am just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problem with the 727's in FSX. All my cockpit sounds work perfectly until I start to move while taxing. Then the default "gauge shakers" (clicking sound) disappears until the aircraft stops moving. Then when I start the takeoff roll, I don't get the V1/Rotate voice until I have achieved a positive rate of climb (at about 100ft agl).
I deleted the old panel core files and downloaded the new ones and I have the new panels installed. I also deleted the old core file sounds before installing the new ones. I have Benoit's new FSX engine sounds (cockpit version) and they are all working fine in all phases of flight, but just to be sure, I installed the old original ones and the problem was still evident.
I have tried all of my installed FSX 727s from 100s through to the different engine etc configs on the 200 and the problem persists with all of them.
I do understand that the panel is designed for FS9 and should work in FSX, but my FSX setup seems to to have a conflict as every FSX setup is different.
I would just like to know if anyone else seems to be having my problem or if anyone has any fix suggestions. I installed the aircraft/panel/sound packing into FS9 and all works perfectly.
Hoping,
Nathan.

Apart from a couple of other non-HJG members whom work with me I regard you as "one of" our most reliable and helpful community members Nathan .... so .... I very much doubt (I´d be surprised) if your experience could be the result of an erroneous installation. The current "V2.2" B727 Panels Gauges/Core Files package was released "11 months ago" .... during October of last year to be precise. "Nothing" within the preceding package was actually replaced, or is new, per this later release and in respect of either its gauges or audio content. In fact all that was ever applied were volume reductions of most of its supporting WAV samples so these were then compatible with the new B727 soundpacks .... otherwise they´d have been far too loud .... the instrument/gauge vibrator sound imn particular and among these. To digress slightly for just a moment .... The FD (flightdeck) versions of our new P&W JT8D B727 soundpacks are "much quieter" than our original (B737 based) JT8D audio .... simply because the engines on B727´s, being located at the rear end of the fuselage, can hardly be heard from a flightdeck perspective .... "hence the altered volume (only) of most of the supporting panel WAV files. To slowly return to topic now .... No changes were applied to any of the V2.0 B727 Aircraft Base Pack FDE´s that could possibly implicate panel/gauge .... and in particular panel/gauge audio interactivity either .... for any of the B727 panels/simulations we offer. All of the applied FDE editing was confined to weight, engine thrust, and aerodynamic parameters in order to best represent performances of each of the different B727-200 version aircraft we offer. In fact the only issues we´re aware of among any of these V2.0 B727-200 simulations since their release are .... 1. A very minor STATION LOAD oversight (which doesn´t impact flight performance) within the W&B sections of each CFG .... this has already been corrected for the "yet to be released" V2.1 B727-200´s. 2. A minor CONTACT POINTS discrepency .... the fix for which "IS" already available/posted within the "KNOWN ISSUES" section of our "B727 PANEL INSTALLATION & HANDLING NOTES" manual .... tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/7819/b727-panels-installation-handling-notes.... and which will be incorporated into our "yet to be released" V2.1 B727-200´s. 3. Inverted response of the outboard ailerons inflight (only) .... these currently work correctly in response to control input "whilst on the ground", but, function incorrectly "whilst inflight". The cause of thhis particular issue has been identified, and fixed (thanks to Paul´s efforts), and this solution will feature within our "yet to be released" V2.1 B727-200´s. V2.0 B727-100´s are also still in production .... undergoing flight testing at the moment. Getting back to your specfic issue now though .... I´m not aware of any particular issue that could possibly contribute to, or result in, your experience Nathan .... in either FS2004 or FSX .... but .... have you recently made any adjustments your PC based audio preferences/settings ? All of the B727 audio (both Panel/Gauge as well as the new soundpacks) were "very extensively" tested within FSX prior to release .... by ourselves and another loyal HJG assistant too .... with no issues, at all, being detected. Here´s a video recorded in FSX demonstrating the release version of our new B727 JT8D audio .... both panel and soundpack related data .... and which is indicates what you/everyone should be experiencing using both our current aircraft base packs, panels, and their Gauges/Core Files content as well as our new D-7 (D-9 also) and D-17 (D-15 also) soundpacks together ...."in FSX specifically" .... FSX - JT8D-7 engine sounds for B727-200 - flightdeck views - takeoff & landing www.youtube.com/watch?v=roBqMxNmDBU Have you installed anything new (commercial or freeware) in the form of programs and utilities that might adversely influence the technical performance of these panels/simulations ? Check that you´re indeed using the current "V2.2" B727 Panel Gauges/Core Files package .... and not the earlier one .... although this, as I´ve implied above, shouldn´t impose any technical/perfomance related inconvenience/s .... but .... check this anyway and replace what you have just to be 100% certain. In the absence of any known issues though .... "THIS" (so far) is all I can really "suggest" Nathan !!!! In regard to getting V-speed callouts "after" T/O .... you are adjusting fuel and/or payload weight "prior to T/O", and then, setting flaps (either 15* or 20* degrees .... 3 or 4 knotches for T/O) first .... then after adjusting the weight and having set the flaps .... you are then clicking on the ASI in order to automatically set the speed bugs in accordance with both the simulatd weight weight and selected flap setting/s aren´t you ? Failure to this .... and in the above specific order too .... "WILL" result in erroneous ASI speed bug settings .... causing equally erroneous V-speed callouts during (or even after) T/O .... since the ASI speed bug settings are what trigger the V-spees callouts. I´m surprised to read you´re experiencing your paryticular issue with the B727-100´s too .... since these are still the original uploads of these particular simulations although, as I´ve hinted above, this shouldn´t impose any differences/problems using either the new panels, new gauges/core files, or new soundpacks. Sorry about the length and occasional digression above, but, I purposely wanted to "seize this opportunity" to try´cover "a number of points" (some related others not) for the benefit of more folk than whom might ever ask any question Mark C BOG/CO

Just re-analysing your query Nathan .... and unless I´m missing something vital .... I just want to further comment as follows .... The gauge vibrator sound .... to which you refer (that´s the ticking sound one hears/"used to hear" very clearly when using these B727 panels) .... underwent "major volume reduction" with the V2.2 Panel Gauges/Core Files release .... as I mentioned within my first reply. This particular adjustment was absolutelty necessary .... since this original audio element (within the now old panel core files) was previously "TOO LOUD" .... and would have been "WAY TOO LOUD STILL" when the current version Panel Core Files sounds are used with the new FD version B727 soundpacks. I wonder if you´ve been using these new soundpacks with their old/original Panel Gauges/Core Files package .... until recently .... and have only then discovered what you´re experiencing after having now installed the new Panel Core Files too. Prior to installing the new Core Files .... this would result in the gauge vibrator sound still being very audible especially when used with the new JT8D soundpacks. Using the new/current V2.2 Panel Gauges/Core Files With their applied volume adjustments .... the sound of the gauge vibrators should "only just" be audible over the sounds of other panel audio ambiance .... and thn disappear almost completely (if not totally) during taxiing/ground manouvering .... through their progressively succumbing to/being drowned-out by the sound of the environmental ground roll audio component featured within either the new soundpacks and/or the revised core files .... only to become audible again (if at all) when the simulation is eventually brought to a complete standstill or is parked. "ALL OF THIS" is intentional .... and as such .... "quite normal" too. If one has only recently installed both the new Panel files and sounsdpacks, then, it might take one/some folk a little time to adapt/readapt to their new audio volume/s .... especially if one´s possibly been aasustomed to using the original/old panel files for long period previously. What we now offer (in terms of both these Core Files and soundpacks) "is", much more authentic/better suited for these B727 simulations, but, it is also essential that both lots of new files be used "together" in order to generate the intended audio ambiance. Also .... Make sure you adjust your FS sound sliders in accordance with the values recommended by Benoit (as stated within the installation instructions accompanying each of his soundpacks) .... and then .... and only because audio results do differ in relation to different hardware devices and systems capabilities .... be prepard to ajust these sound slider settings to reflect your own personal preference/s. A little experimentation, and adaption, may both be neccesary here. As I mentioned near the end of my first reply .... the only reason why erroneous V-speed callouts could possibly be generated is if the ASI airspeed bugs weren´t set correctly, in accordance with weight calculations (the panel does all of this for one upon clicking the ASI) and flap settings, prior to T/O. I hope this helps .... and may apply little more clarity to your possible situation .... "IF" I´m right Mark C BOG/CO

Hello Nathan;
As I am also an FSX user I decided to load the 727-200 Adv version.
I did not experience any unusual sounds such as you mention with exception of the elevator trim adjustment sound.
I performed a take-off at 80% fuel loading which gave me GTOW of 183,000lbs and a 15deg flap setting showed a VR of 142 knts. and V2 of 162knts on the ASI bugs.
During the roll a callout came at 142knts for V1 and immediately followed by "Rotae".
So I think on the 727 if you look at the performance charts the V1 and Vr speeds are close together under certain cicumstances (weight ,temperature and runway length)

T/O V-REF tables are compiled into each of our B727 panels .... as part of the F/E´s Report facility .... and this data constantly auto-updates in accordance with the simulations weight after the engines have been started. See "B727 PANEL INSTALATION & HANDLING NOTES - SECTION 2.00 - PANEL SUB PANEL DISPLAY ICONS" .... tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/7819/b727-panels-installation-handling-notesHOWEVER .... The ASI gauge, located on the Main Panel, still needs being mouse clicked in order to actually set its speed bugs based on the simulations calculated weight and in accordance with either a FLAP 15 or 20 Flap settiing. 1 mouse click on the ASI ajusts these speed bugs in accordance with a FLAP 15 setting. 2 mouse clicks on the ASI ajusts these speed bugs in accordance with a FLAP 20 setting. Same gain prior to landing also .... 1 mouse click on the ASI ajusts these speed bugs in accordance with a FLAP 15 setting. 2 mouse clicks on the ASI ajusts these speed bugs in accordance with a FLAP 25 setting. 3 mouse clicks on the ASI ajusts these speed bugs in accordance with a FLAP 30 setting .... and which is about the maximum flap setting for landing using any of these B727 simulations .... although our QW and LEAPS configured B727-200 are restricted to a maximum landing flap setting of FLAP 25. After re-reading Nathan´s report .... I´m now pretty sure that his concerns may have arisen on account of his "possibly" still needing to adapt to the new Core Files sounds and the new soundpacks also (if both have been installed recently) now being used together .... since these are quieter than the previous files for those reasons I´ve already explained above. So long as what he´s hearing (panel/gauges sound-wise) approximastes what´s represented within the FSX audio-visual I´ve posted within my first reply .... THEN .... this would confirm that everyhing´s operating correctly/as it should. I´m just curious to know whether or not he may have forgotten to click on his ASI in order in order to set its speed bugs so these then correctly trigger the T/O V-speec callouts. Mark C BOG/CO

Wow Mark, thank you for your compliment in the first post, I'm quite taken aback.
In relation to the ideas floated here, unfortunately, I definitely have the newer V2.2 quieter core file sounds and gauges installed. I can hear the files clicking quietly away happily in the background, but as soon as I move, I lose the clicking sound then it starts up again when I come to a complete stop. Because of this, I'm wondering if it may be a wheel rumble sound that is stopping any of the core files from playing. With the V1, I have been setting 8,000lbs of fuel in each tank, clicking the ASI once (it reads flap 15) setting the flaps but am still getting the 80kts/rotate sound when I climb through about 100 ft AGL. Once again, this would relate to a wheel rumble file playing up as when the 80kts/Rotate sound is heard, the cockpit clicking starts again.
As everything works perfectly in FS9 (with the FS9 engine sounds) I can only imagine that I have a conflict in FSX somewhere that is causing this anomaly. It had been working perfectly then one day not. I will just have to keep on testing until I find the little bugger then I will post the findings here.
Thank you everyone who has taken time to try and help me,
Cheers,
Nathan.

This part of your observation is quite normal .... in that (as I mentioned earlier) the gauge vibrator sound is now so quiet, as it should be, that it will progressively fade out/be superseded by the ground roll .... which becomes more dominant in proportion to speed accumultion during taxiing/ground manouvering and certainly during T/O. This gauge vibrator sound does not actually stop running though (o at least it shouln´t) .... but rather .... it remains constant all the while .... and which is why it becomes evident again in response to reducing speed/ground roll and/or when comming to a complete standstill.
I think the above FSX video link will/should verify these particular details.
As for the the V-speed callouts issue ....
I can´t put a finger on this, at all (I´ve never heard of such an issue .... that I can recall), other than to suggest .... if it´s all working fine in FS9, but not so in FSX, then .... YEAH .... there must some form of conflict going on between this gauge/sound feature and something else in the case of your own FSX installtion.
Again the above FSX video clip demonstrates how this particular feature should be performing also.
JUST AS A MATTER OF INTEREST ....
Can you please confirm that you are in fact using the FSX version (and not the FS9 version) B727 JT8D soundpack/s with your FSX installation/s.
Be sure to use FSX (only) designated soundpacks in FSX .... and FS9 (only) designated soundpacks in FS9 .... in regard to any of these B727 simulations (and our DC-10´s also). If there´s any mix-up between the above (a wrong soundpack version with either FS version), then, I´m wondering if this could possibly be the foundation of your V-speed audio conflict .... or at least a contributing factor .... although such an event would be "INCREADIBLY RARE" event I should think.
This "DOES NOT" apply to the Core File audio content though since all of this particular WAV is standard for either FS version.

Nathen.... I have just conducted another test flight with the 727-200 ADV model using your fuel figure of 8000lbs in each tank giving a GTOW of 162,700lbs. Selecting 15% of flaps and clicking the ASI, gave me a V1\Vr value of 136knts. and V2 152knts settings on the speed bugs. The callouts made by the copilot were right on the money...so I don't know what is going on. What are your speed bugs showing on the ASI and are you rotating at the right speeds as shown on the speed bugs. ? Herman

Hi Mark and Herman, thank you for your great replies.
Unfortunately, I am using the correct FSX sounds and FS9 engine sounds (re downloaded them to make sure). I know it's not the plane, core files or panel, but something silly with my FSX setup that is causing the core file sounds not to play while moving on the ground. The only updates I have made to FSX recently where to add more ORBX scenery and I deleted the Just Flight DC8 and then reinstalled it. I also installed the HJG DC8 but had major problems starting and stopping the engines so I deleted it. I might try uninstalling the JF DC8 again and see if that makes a difference.
Herman, I will test the bug speeds at the weight, but they did move. It seems to be that my FSX installation doesn't want to play the core sounds until airborne and then plays them all at once.
Thanks for all the help again, I'll keep on tinkering, but ultimately, it doesn't distract me from the pure enjoyment these aircraft give me.
Cheers,
Nathan.
#UPDATE#
Ok, I just tried some more tests and found that none of the core panel sounds are playing while the aircraft is moving on the ground. I tried the Mach overspeed test, Light switches, parking brake and GPWS warning test. Hmmmm
Herman, the bugs where on 136/152 with 8,000lbs in each tank. Now to try and find out what is stopping the core sounds from playing.

This´s all "QUITE ODD" .... by virtue of the FSX video (above) .... as well as Herman´s positive FSX experience too. I´m all out of ideas .... other than to suggest the following "very long shot in the dark" .... Have you looked at your audio adaptors (I think it is) within WINDOWS and tried experimenting with their settings ? Among the available settings there you should be able to select between either 16 BITT or ever 64 BITT sound and their related frequencies .... or even other options (possibly) depending on your system specifications and hardware .... I´m just curious to know whether or not experimenting with these settings might help resolve your issue in FSX. I´m not an FSX user (I hate the bloody thing), so, aren´t familiar with whatever audio adjustments can be applied wihin the FSX platform itself, but, some experimentation with whatever´s available there .... and in relation to your WINDOWS based audio adaptor settings too .... might both be in order. I note you´ve already communicated that everything´s running fine (nd as i should) within your FS2004 installtion .... and that FSX is the problem .... BUT THERE AGAIN .... there should be no such issues, at all, in the latter .... and once again by virtue of the FSX demo video and Herman´s owb feedbck. I´m sorry you appear to be suffering this particular problem Nathan TO DIGRESS TO THE DC-8´s .... The JF DC-8 simulation (payware) "is" actually quite a respected product, but, I do feel ours perform/fly better despite their being a much older generation product .... and of course our own coverage of the DC-8 is much more extensive/complete too. In the case of our own DC-8´s in "FSX" .... there´s a "specific procedure" (different from that of FS2004) for both starting and shutting down the engines .... which Herman (I think) is quite familiar with and may be able to advise in regard to. Although having said this .... here´s 3 separate videos demonstrating not only the DC-8 startup procedure "in FSX", but also, demonstrating FSX versions of 3 of our new DC-8 sounpcks too .... DC-8-40 RR CONWAY 509 startup procedure (air assisted startup of engine 3 .... push back .... and then number 3 engine bleed air (only) to start the remaining engines 4/2/1) www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQPSdGZ3E5QDC-8-50/-61 P&W JT3D-3B startup procedure (air assisted startup of all 4 engines .... in the order of engine 3/4/2/1 .... agin the correct startup order) www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtulRWqBrtUDC-8-62/-63 P&W JT3D-7 startup procedure (air assisted startup of all 4 engines again .... in the order of engine 3/4/2/1 .... once again the correct startup order) www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2lxNa6nlMQI need to add .... "ALL" of our new audio work (since the DC-10 and B727 soundpacks) is compiled for FSX "FIRST" .... then .... adaptd for FS2004 use which results in FS2004 and FSX specific soundpacks due to the different audio engie featured in both FS versions. Once again, thank you so much Mark for dedicating you much needed brain cells to my little problem.
I tried playing around with the audio adaptors and updated my audio drivers still to no avail. I also deleted my FSX.cfg file allowing FSX to rebuild it so that I got FSX to re apply for permission to use the panel core files, but that didn't work either. I feel like you that it may be time to cut my losses and count my blessings that its not Benoit's amazing engine sounds that are cutting out :} It doesn't effect the aircraft in any other way so I think it's time to get back to flying. Plus, they work perfectly in my FS9 config, it's just a shame that the amazing ORBX sceneries are only available for AUS or I would fly FS9 more.
I have to agree with you about the JF DC-8. It is great looking product, with a great virtual cockpit, but I prefer the HJG ones! The only thing I miss in the HJG ones is a fuel panel, but once again, it doesn't affect the pure enjoyment I get from the wonderful HJG product. Having said that, if Tony defected and started painting for the opposition, I might fly them a bit more well, a tiny bit anyway.
Thanks again for Herman and your input, but lets just write it off as that bl00dy FSX and go flying.
Cheers,
Nathan

Nathan .... Based on a recent but "COMPLETELY UNRELATED" (to yours) audio experience of my own .... which I appear to have resolved a couple of days ago .... just as a matter of "CURIOSITY" what are your PC based controller device stated audio settings/values .... in terms of both Sampling Rate (KHZ) and Bitt Depth ? ALSO .... I want to check that you are actually using the V2.0 B727-200 soundpacks .... meaning both the AIR.FILE and AIRCRAFT.CFG data and not just the new 3D models only with the old original FDE files .... and that yor also using the current panel versionms as well .... since the new B727 audio won't work desirably unless the V2.0 FDE (both CFG and AIR data) and all of these other files are also used since everything works togrther in harmony with everything else. ALSO .... and although this particular (next) detail shouldn't matter or impact audio in I just want to be sure you've applied the following edit .... Have you applied the following CONTACT POINTS revision (as advised within the "KNOWN ISSUES" section .... at the end of "SECTION 1" .... of our B727 manual) to all of your V2.0 B727-200 CFG files ? [contact_points] static_pitch = -0.6 static_cg_height = 7.6 tailwheel_lock = 0 gear_system_type = 1 max_number_of_points = 8

"at all" .... but .... using the correct aircraft base pack CFG/AIR data is "vitally important" (and with the above stated CP edit too) .... AND .... your PC based device controller audio settings could, possibly, be a contributing factor in light of your recently reported experience. Let me know please ALSO .... check the [GENERAL ENGINE DATA] section of each of your B727-200 CFG files and make sure the MINIMUM THROTTLE LIMIT data line reads precisely as follows .... min_throttle_limit = -0.499939The above data values are what's prescribed for these new soundpacks .... and should already appear within each of the B727-200 V2.0 CFG files. If it doesn't .... then .... edit this data line to read "as precsribed above". Another small detail I need to comment in relation too also (and this's a known FS anomally) .... If loading the default CESSNA, or other default MSFS aircraft scenario, and then shutting it's engine/s down in advance of proceding to any other add-on aircraft selection (as is norrmally recommended) .... THEN .... sometimes the background sounds of avionics and gyros might remains silent when the next panel/add-on aircraft scenario loads into FS. In such a case tapping the like of the panel Elevator Trim setting (such as that featured within the HJG B707 and B727 panels) can suddenly "bump this audio into action". I have observed this with some of our much older soundpacks and HJG aircraft panels .... and also in relation to some non-HJG add-on aircraft scenarios too. Other times it can pay to "NOT" shutdown the engines of any default MSFS aircraft prior to proceding to any add-on aircraft of choice .... and load an engines running scenario instead .... THEN .... once that's scenarios successfully loaded, then shutdown the engines, and restart them again as per the prescribed panel procedures. MSFS can be a bit "quirky" on some systems and in regard to details such as these. Most systems are "different" today .... and can result in "different" experiences .... and which can make pin-pointing such issues "extremly difficult"/impossible" in some cases. These (above) are just a few other ideas for you to consider/play around with. Mark C AKL/NZ

Hi Mark, thank you again for putting the old great matter to work again on my problem.
I checked the audio settings and I have 48khz at 24bit. I also checked the aircraft configs and they include the above data.
When the aircraft where updated, I deleted the old 727-200's from FSX and the panel sound and gauge files. I then restarted the system, loaded the new panels into the FSFSCONV folder, the new gauges into the FSX/ Guages folder and the new guage sounds into the FSX/sound folder. I then downloaded the new aircraft and following your very in depth guide, the repaints into their correct aircraft folders adding the "Additional textures" that came with the new aircraft folders to the repaints, overriding and replacing when asked. I made sure that I deleted the aircraft.cfg and renamed the FSX.cfg version. I downloaded the FSX specific sounds from Benoit and replaced the aircraft sound folder with his new ones.
After the problems started, I redownloaded the panel core files, deleting the old ones and replaced them and redownloaded Benoit's FSX specific sound files, deleting the old and replacing as well.
I have tried different ways of starting the sim including those which you suggested but no dice. I also have the CraptainSim (hehe) version of the 727 which I uninstalled in case it was conflicting, but no change there.
Just to make sure, I then setups the aircraft in FS9 using the FS9.cfg and FS9 engine sounds and they work perfectly. This says to me that something has gone wonky with FSX itself and the only real way to fix it would be to reinstall from scratch, but with all my scenery and aircraft add ons, it's something I'm not looking forward to doing.
The planes run beautifully in FSX except for the manual engine start and the sounds while rolling on the ground, so I am more than happy to live with these two very minor problems. It has also encouraged me to start using FS9 a lot more where everything works perfectly.
Thank you again for all the help and suggestions that everyone has given me, but I am happy to live with my slightly wonky FSX then reload.
Cheers again,
Nathan.

Thanks Nathan .... I note your SAMPLING RATE and BITT DEPTH settings/values appear to be about the same as mine. Just as another matter of interest/"as a last resort" .... what sort of values are assigned within [SOUND] section your FSX.CFG ? Mark C AKL/NZ
