Previews of Pratt & Whitney JT4A turbojet engine sounds for DC-8-20 & DC-8-30 series.
Dated and very early engine sounds from the 1950's for our DC-8 line up.

"W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L WORK Benoit Folks .... this's "PART 4 (A)" of HJG´s new DC-8 audio upgrade project. This being the first of the turbojet series soundpacks for our early DC-8 series simulations .... this particular presentation being the P&W JT4A for DC-8-21/-31/-32/and -33 aircraft specifically. This new soundpack is, once again, customised for use with our new/current V5.4 FDE for these simulations and will replace our current turbojet audio. What Benoit's b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l-l-y reconstructed here (and for the yet to be previewed P&W JT3C turbojet engines also) are almost forgotten sounds from long passed age in civil aviation. Whilst the P&W JT4A was somewhat cleaner burning than the preceding water/methanol injected P&W JT3C .... this particular turbojet engine was "just noisy". These early turbojet engines had "sound characteristics of their own" and which were quite different from that of later fanjet engine series which followed them into service. As may be evident evident within Benoit's videos .... even the classic startup howl, exhibited by these early turbojet engines, is "quite different" when compared with that featured within Benoit's recently previewed DC-8-40/--50/and -61 fanjet engine soundpacks .... and which is due, in part, to the different nacelle shape of these early turbojet engines, although this's something that's less definitively modelled among HJG's 3D models of each of the very early DC-8 series. "B-R-I-L-L-I-A-N-T STUFF" Benoit .... "TRULY" .... and "THANK YOU" Mark C AKL/NZ

I agree with Mark: Beautiful and brilliant stuff you're creating Benoit.
As I was watching/hearing the approach of the Braniff DC-8, I thought I was going to be deaf. Such a feeling in the FS can only deliver a great soundpack along an equally great DC-8 model.
Well done and keep up the fantastic work!!

Absolutely can't wait for the release of these new 8's. You have 'nailed' the sounds of a long gone era - there is so little in the way of quality recordings of these engines so that makes your efforts so much more valuable. Brilliant.

Two more video previews to go before the release of these sounds upgrade, the JT3Cs still in final edits and testing for the DC-8-11, plus an adapted version for the DC-8 ship one without thrust reversers. It shouldn't be too much longer before these are made available for download.
It's a very big project which has been challenging and fun to get into over the last few years, as the DC-8s evolved from the -10 to the Super 63, so did the many different versions of engine types and their nacelles which had acoustic liners applied to dampen and reduce noise levels both externally and inside the airframe.
Thank you all for your appreciation and kind comments.
Cheers
