Not too sure about the legitimacy of this one ..... .... by "legitimacy" I mean an "EASTERN CARGO" titled "SAINT LOUIS AIR" operated B377/C-97 freighter (N399EA) .... and in respect of whether or not it ever actually existed since I can't seem to turn up any informatiom about it, at all, either online or among my own extensive production lists Thought Tom GIBSON might like to comment accordingly Mark C AKL/NZ

You are NOT supposed to reveal your birthday gift for Peter Lindell's coming birthday! Is it latest Jahn model? From looking at the engines, I do not think it is latest Jahn model. Aharon

I think it's the Stratocruiser from Greg Pepper/Calclassic (judging from the look of the landing gear wheels). Also I doubt that Eastern Airlines ever used Stratocruisers either for Passenger-flight or Cargo-flights (the shwon livery must be a fictional one).

Totally not real... EA never even got close to a 367/377/C-97... and Eastern Cargo never used that logotype, and N399EA was never used by EA... and for the era of the titles EA would never of been interested in a propliner cargo plane... they had enough trouble filling the 727QCs and that was the end of "dedicated" freighters for EA. After that it was belly space only.
AFAIK the only time a Stratocruiser showed up in the EA timetable was a short period in 1958 when Northwest assigned them to the thru-plane pool service MSP-MDW-ATL flights (EA assigned DC-7Cs).
Eastern's first postwar interest in a Boeing airliner was the 720... Rickenbacker didn't even seriously look at the 707, he practically looked at the 707 literature, picked up the phone, called Douglas and ordered the DC-8-20! EA may of considered the model 247 when they got the L-10/L-12 Electra back in the mid 30s, but I don't have alot of background on them for that era.

Hi, AFAITC N399EA is a fictional registration - it's not listed in any of my books. It has been the reg number of a Beechcraft Baron for many years. Looks like a fantasy scheme. Neat though.
