The later engine was FADEC "A full authority digital engine (or electronics) control (FADEC) is a system consisting of a digital computer, called an "electronic engine controller" (EEC) or "engine control unit" (ECU), and its related accessories that control all aspects of aircraft engine performance"

Is there any difference to one another in terms of actual sounds?

Mark will give you finer detail once he picks up this thread However I doubt there will be but they are tuned for the RJ FDE

There might be a very slight difference for the acute audiophile. Honeywell LF 507 is a geared turbofan engine produced by Lycoming, AlliedSignal and then Honeywell Aerospace. The earlier ALF 502 was certified in 1980. The improved, higher-thrust LF 507 was used on the Avro RJ update of the British Aerospace BAe 146.

Benoit's (in particular) .... and Tony's explanations say it all 1 was FADEC (Full Authority Digital Engine Control) .... and which is applicable to our ARJ panel version only (only those using the ARJ panel we offer might benefit from the FADEC system which is implemented .... in so far as it's possible to do that in FS) .... whereas the other isn't . "DO NOT"use the ARJ panel with the BAe base packs .... or vice-versa .... or they won't/can't work. There's a very minor thrust rating difference between the 2 engine types .... but .... the difference (although we've incorporated it, is so small it hardly makes any difference if any .... at all. Any audio differences between both engines are "very minor" .... and probably completely indetectable to most "ear holes" The thing that constituted our need to offer both ARJ and BAe specific soundpacks is AIR.FILE dictated data .... within the ARJ FDE primarily and due to it's simulated FADEC system. Like is the case with the panels .... the BAe soundpack version can't/won't work properly if used with the ARJ FDE .... and vice-versa also .... SO .... make sure the right panels, and soundpacks, are used with these simulations .... as recommended within our forum based online manual. Mark C AKL/NZ
