Here's another rare bird from the regional world; Presidential Airlines started out as an independent scheduled carrier in 1985, but had a very difficult time trying to compete in any meaningful way. In 1987, they shifted their business model to primarily function as a regional airline operating for United and Continental out of Washington-Dulles and Newark, respectively. However, they attempted to maintain some independent operations on the side, including using a Boeing 737 for charters (including the Presidential candidates during the 1988 election cycle), which proved financially unsustainable, causing them to file for bankruptcy in 1989. From their time as a regional contractor came N406XV, one of two BAe-146-200s to receive the full Continental red meatball livery upon delivery in 1987. Also, a year removed from the main project, I stumbled upon yet more variations of the PSA BAe-146; this one wears the higher straight stripes and normal tail design, but with the experimental ash gray titles. As far as I can tell, N360PS was the only aircraft to appear this way. Here too is N188US, in the simplest of the hybrid liveries, the PSA tail, and USAir titles. For whatever reason, the cheatline doesn't have the white outline that N185US (one I've already painted) does.

Here are two rare Thai 146s; while they operated nine BAe-146-300s between 1989 and 1998, they also had just a single example of a -100 and a -200. HS-TBO, 1990. This one served with a number of other airlines, and ultimately ended up with SkyJet Airlines in the Philippines, where it still flies today. HS-TBQ, 1989. Originally delivered to PSA as N368PS, it also had a large number of owners after its time with Thai. Currently it serves as a fire bomber with Neptune Aviation as N478NA.

Thank you! Here are two more German charter 737s from the '90s: DFD 737-35B D-AGEC, 1990. Deutscher Flugdienst was established around 1989 as a subsidiary of Condor; there's little to no information on what exactly their purpose was, so I guess they just kind of existed for a little while. Anyway, this aircraft and one other were operated by Germania, and in 1991 they were integrated back into Condor proper (albeit still operated by ST). Condor 737-330 D-ABWA, 1995. Full new colors after being repainted from the delivery gray scheme.

Thanks Mark! Next up is a trio of Trans World 727s representing different periods in time. First is N853TW as it looked upon delivery in May 1964, in the twin globe livery and "Star Stream 727" titles on the engines. This is a little different from the later version Tony's already done, which had less-polished metal, no engine titles, and door outlines. From 1971 comes N894TW, one of eight 727-100Cs operated between 1967 and 1982. Like Braniff and Eastern (among others), TWA used them to fly cargo at night and passengers during the day, though they never got the 'Cargojet' titles that were applied to the airline's all-cargo 707s. Finally, from 1975 we have N895TW, in the recently-introduced two-stripe livery with outline titles. All eight of the -100Cs were sold to UPS in 1982, and eventually upgraded with Rolls-Royce Tays as 727-100QFs.

"Sights For Soaring Eyes" .... as TRANS WORLD AIRLINES marketing slogans of the 1980´s and 90´s eras both once read What Erik´s represented in respect of the TWA 1964 delvery scheme (in particular) is both "correct and historically accurate" too. Prior to approximately 1967/8 the aircraft of few, if any, airlines/operators around the world featured marked/painted door outlines. As the result of a number of accidents "prior to this period" .... and during which airport rescue services had (apparently) experienced difficulty locating exits .... door outlines were later mandated by international aviation safety legislators. "IF" .... he wants to do it then I can assist him with "superior" images to aid detailing. During the mid 1990´s I shot this particular aircraft quite extensively at both AKL and HLZ.
KIWI INTERNATIONAL AILINES should not be confused with a similarly named carrier based in the USA .... both are "entirely unrelated" operators despite the apparent conicidence of their identities.
KIWI TRAVEL INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES .... became New Zealands first ever budget/discount/no frills international airline.
Services commenced during July 1994 as weekly charters bwtween Hamilton and Brisbane/Australia .... and to both Nuku¨Álofa/Tonga, and Apia/Western Samoa from from December 1994 .... using a chartered AIR NAURU B737-400. Then from April 1995 the airline extended its routing from Hamilton to include Cairns, Rockhampton, and Townsville/Australia. All of these services were operated under the KIWI TRAVEL INTERNATIONAL AIR CHARTERS banner.
From August 23rd 1995 the airline commenced scheduled services from both Hamilton and Dunedin to Sydney/Australia (although the airlines Hamilton/Sydney services were forced to transit via Auckland .... and its Dunedin/Sydney services similarly forced to transit via Christchurch .... due to fuel/weight restrictions in accordance with the RWY length and both of these New Zealand provincial centers) .... using an ex-EASTERN AIR LINES B727-200 ADV leased from AV ATLANTIC and operating under the KIWI TRAVEL INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES banner.
During early 1996 the airlines B727-200 ADV was replaced with a B757-200 leased from AIR 2000 and the airline also then rebranded as KIWI INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES. This aircraft was replaced with a leased B737-300, and also supplemented by a leased A320-200, later during 1996.
During late 1996 AIR NEW ZEALAND (whom had never shown any previous motivation in regard to operating international services from New Zealand provincial centers .... until what it deemed was the intrusion of KIWI INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES into its market) established its own budget/discount/no frills international wing known as FREEDOM AIR INTERNATIONAL .... and which was registered under the SOUTH PACIFIC AIR CHARTERS banner and operated under the paper-thin disguise of the airlines MOUNT COOK AIRLINE subsidiary .... initially flying a B757-200 leased from BRITANNIA AIRWAYS and which began sevicing the very same routes as KIWI INTENATIONAL AIRLINES, on the very same days, and according to an almost identical schedule too, from December 1996.
Competition between both operators became "intense" .... but .... the KIWI INTERNATIONAL operation somply couldn´t prevail against the might of AIR NEW ZEALAND .... and was eventually forced into liquidation on September 9th 1996 and after a period of financial difficulties.
FREEDOM AIR INTERNATIONAL (which was essentially AIR NEW ZEALAND´s tool to surgically remove KIWI INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES from the New Zealand market) continued operating until March 2008 .... when it was voluntarily wound-up by AIR NEW ZEALAND and by which time it operated leased A320-200 and B737-300 aircraft. Prior to its demise the airline serviced Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney, and Melbourne/Australia from Hamilton, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Palmerston North. Services to Fiji .... and also to the principle New zealand domestic centers .... were also briefly operated.
The KIWI story doesn´t quite end here though.
Ewan WILSON .... the founder of KIWI INTERNATONAL TRAVEL AIR CHARTERS/KIWI INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL AIRLINES/KIWI INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES .... was back on the New Zealand domestic civil aviation scene from 2014 when he established KIWI REGIONAL AIRLINES which commenced operations on October 27th 2015. The airline operated a single SAAB 340-A on services from Dunedin to Hamilton, Nelson, and Queenstown (discontinued from November 2015), and Tauranga (from February 2016). Once again unable to prevail against the might of both AIR NEW ZEALAND and JETSTAR AIRWAYS (New Zealand) .... KIWI REGIONAL AIRLINES ceased operations on July 30th 2016.

Consider it added to the list In the meantime, here's HB-ISZ, an MD-83 of Swiss International circa 2002. When Crossair was transitioned into Swiss International in late 2001, most of the fleet received the new identity, though only two MD-80s did. The rest were mostly retired in 2002 and 2003.

Next up is a new set of perros locos de México, from Aeronaves TSM: DC-9-33F XA-UPS, 2012. This one flew with KLM and ABX Air before arriving in Mexico in 2011, and was given this half-DHL livery. DC-9-32F XA-UUT, 2015, in the standard livery. MD-83SF XA-UZI, 2018. Formerly N597AA with American, this one has the red variation of the livery seen on a few other MD-80s.
