Two more -400s for the fleet: Hapag-Lloyd 737-4K5 D-AHLL, 1993 Swift Air 737-401 N420US, 2018 This seems to be an alternate livery, as all official branding on the Swift Air website seems to indicate that the orange/gray livery is the primary one, yet at least six 737-400s are painted in this blue and yellow one (also note that it's sporting some snazzy chrome cowl edges on the engines!). The mysteries of charter flying!

I'm not sure what the plan is with the paint scheme beyond this - The 737s will remain with Swift Air, operating under the Swift Air name. Livery was originally planned to be the Blue/Yellow (the Orange was the "old" scheme and not well liked by the crews) as part of the planned Scheduled Air Carrier operation. However, that may now be on hold because of the acquisition of both Eastern Airlines (2009) and Dynamic International Airways and the decision to make Dynamic the "Scheduled" operator using the Eastern Airlines name. The 767s will all be repainted in the "Modern Hockey Stick" scheme used by Eastern Air Lines (2009) once the approvals for the "d/b/a" name change and trademark usage are received.

Interesting. I'm glad I'm not the one that has to sort all this out! Here are a few more Piedmont birds from 1989, when the merger with USAir was in full swing: 737-301 N581US: 737-301 N342US: One more variation of the 737-400 is in progress, in the "shades of rust" scheme like 342.

Believe me Erick, the whole thing is confusing to everyone, probably even the owners. Things developed kinda quickly for them and it threw stuff in a bit of a mess. The Swift/Dynamic "purchase/merger" was going well and all, all of the passenger birds were being consolidated to Greensboro, the new scheme was in the works, and then BOOM - Eastern's ownership group comes and asks for help. Wasn't really expected, but apparently there was a relationship somewhere formed between some of the Swift management team and the Eastern crew and when Eastern lost its share of the NHL Charter contract and the Cuba flights started going sideways (because Cuba), it meant things collapsed quickly for them. I hate it for that group because they were all good people (met many of them when they came into Dallas at the start of the NHL contract a couple years ago) and genuinely wanted to do right by the Eastern name, but things just conspired against them. Thankfully it looks like the name will remain and maybe actually come out stronger than before because of it.

Der Fliegende Holländer / The Flying Dutchmen .... and very appropriately name too (Abel TASMAN) for my part of the world. It was Able TASMAN whom became the first known European to have sighted, and charted, part of the west coat of New Zealand (conditions prevented him from landing here though .... or if he attempted to do so then might have been chased away by the Maori's / our local indigenous peoples .... such much has never been recorded among known historical navigation documents) .... some 200 years before James COOK relocated it, landed here, and then claimed New Zealand for the British crown.
