DC-8's are no rarety on the "HK-" register.
In fact the type has seen service with a number of Colombian operators since the late 1970's.
Of the Colombian DC-8 operators .... more of these aircraft saw service with ARCA COLOMBIA (AEROVIAS COLOMBIANAS) though.
ARCA commenced services during 1956 using C-46 COMMANDO, DC-3, and DC-6B propliners for both air freight and PAX services but by the 1980's the airlines operations had become an almost exclusively cargo oriented.
ARCA entered the jet age during 1975 with a leased B707-120F .... then acquired its first DC-8 during 1978.
Other DC-8's saw service with ARCA later and appeared in variety of identities as follows ....
DC-8-43F HK-1854 (1978) .... operated in basic ALITALIA livery with bold black fuselage titles.
DC-8-33F N53CA (1981) .... leased in and operated in plain white identity devoid of any titling.
DC-8-54F HK-2667X .... operated in small/very fine green tail titles with bold black fuselage titling.
DC-8-51F HK-2587X (1982) .... operated in basic BRANIFF red livery with bold white fuselage titles.
DC-8-53F HK-3125X .... operated in bold green tail and black fuselage titles (this particular aircraft appeared very weathered throughout its service with ARCA due to an improperly applied paint job shortly after its acquisition by the airline).
DC-8-55F N5824A .... leased in and operated in plain white livery with bold black fuselage titles.
DC-8-53F HK374X .... operated with bold green tail and black fuselage titles.
Camilo LUENGAS has just completed HK-2667X as follows .... this being the last member of the HJG represented ARCA COLOMBIA DC-8 flightline.
A nice tribute to another great "Latino Lady" (in the form of the DC-8) .... and one that's just a wee bit more special (to Camilo) too .... becase this aircraft, among the other 1980's acquired ARCA DC-8's, was flown by his father captain Hugo LUENGAS during this period.
