Mark and Herman, you guys nailed it . My 75 year old eyes didn't help matters.
Ok... my tired eyes finally caught something! The reason the ac loading was 8548 is that Tom Ruth's DC-10-40 has that tail#. The only difference in folder name was his was DC_10_40 as opposed to DC-10-40 and I had two folders with DC-10-40 and overlooked Tom's. I deleted said folder leaving ONLY HJG DC-10-40. The six requirements are present. air file same name as sim, panel designated in ac.cfg, texture named in ac.cfg, cfg with proper livery entry, model named after the .mdl file and sound. For some reason, the ac doesn't show up in the aircraft list. Nada..At least I can explain my floating vistaliner. Still trying to scope out why ac doesn't show up under selection page. Thank you, all for your patience. Now, I'm not only feeling embarrassed, but down right foolish. I apologize profusely for spinning you up and depleting your good nature and heartfelt kindness. I'm truly sorry.

"NO PROBLEM" Terry We've all done it at some past stage .... even me If I understand you correctly the only matter now remaining is to get FSX to recognize and dispay your DC-10 .... correct ? I'm not the FSX specialist here, so, hopfully one of the guys will jump in and guide you .... where I can't .... BUT ... make sure you don't change any of the HJG folder names as sdupplied. Make sure you haven't got a valid folder still retained within a containing folder from the original ZIP file .... AND .... make sure your FLTSIM.XX data (particularly the SIM=, MODEL=, and TEXTURE= data lines are absolutely in agreement with the AIR.FILE, model folder, and texture folder names respectively). FSX "is" sensitive in regard to where files go in order to be drecognized and displayed .... the slightest error will cause any subject to not be recogniozed and displayed by FS. I need one of our FSX guys to guide you from here. Hope you made to the pub Bring back another bottle .... since we could all now do with a good "snort"/drink Mark C AKL/NZ

Wow... Eureka.... I am finally seeing what you've been talking about for three days.. So I reassemble the unzips and no ac shows. Looking at all of the prerequisites needed I thought I had them all fulfilled. I noticed in the default ac.cfg the first line stated [fltsim.00] I wondered . So I changed it to read [fltsim.0] and magically your magnificent bird appeared. At first I was startled by never before heard bells, buzzes and horns. The panel is so clear I sat in awe at the high level of detail. The cockpit environmental sounds and the textures featured in the plane is so superb. I truly apologize for sending you guys around Robin Hood's barn. Looking back on it, I should have caught this sooner. My heartfelt thanks for all of the help, encouragement and good will HJG has bestowed on an unworthy. Mark, Mike, Herman, Nathan... particularly.. thank you for being there and not buzzing me off. Now, if you don't mind, I think I'm going to enjoy jumping head first into this beautiful creature...oh..one more thing., yes, the CLG is there, and the tail reg is..wait for it.. JAL8542. One thing is missing though....(thankfully)..the anti-gravity device seems to be inoperative. She sits squarely on the ground.. Thank you all..May God Bless.. Terry

Happy to hear Terry, that you are now able to enjoy the HJG DC-10's in all their glory.
As Mark explained, we all at some point in time, have had issues and made errors, be it in the form of installation or otherwise.
Cheers: Herman

These are the "essential parts" of the new DC-10 manual Terry .... - SECTION 1.08 - Base Pack installation. - SECTION 1.09 - Panels and Gauges/Core Files installation. - SECTION 1.10 - Sound Pack installation. - The entirety of SECTIONS 2.00 through 3.00 - Panel Descriptions. - The entirety of SECTION 4.00 and SECTION 6.00 - Panel Checklists/Configuration and Tutorials. - The entirety of SECTION 7.00 - Basic Flying Guides. Since you're up and running now you can use the "SECTION 1" references just to confirm you've got all the rights bits assigned to the right bird/s .... then get into the real nitty-gritty of how it all works per "SECTION 2, 4, 6, and 7 .... and of course you now know where to find us should the need arise I'll be scarce from Thursday (NZT) .... I have 3 flights (1 long and 2 medium haul .... AKL/LAX, LAX/MIA/BOG) to prepare for, but, will still be checking in here up to Friday (NZT) at least. Mark X aKL/NZ

Mark, thanks a million. Where could I find that "ReSo'Cha livery.. looks great. This big baby lands like a big marshmallow... what a joy. I'm enjoying the adventure. I just have to brush up on my FMC skills..otherwise I'm enjoying all of the audio you've incorporated. Really adds to the realism and immersion factor.. Again, million thanks to you and the HJG team... safe travels and God Speed....

I haven't released this (modified/improved) JALWAYS "Reso'Cha" livery yet .... it's one of a number still requiring a pre-release authorization. Leave this with me though Terry .... and I'll be in touch Mark C AKL/NZ

Great..Understand ..can't wait...Quick question if I may. The Installation Notes mentioned being able to observe passenger views with number key 1 and number key 2. Could you clarify that. Not having much luck with that. Did I misunderstand??

"In FS2004" .... the following animated PAX wing views are selected from main panel view .... These work using the numeric keypad .... #1 selects the port side wing trailing edge view .... and #3 selects the starboard side wing leading edge/engine pylon and nacelle view. PLEASE NOTE: It's possible these views may not function in FSX .... I'm not sure about that. If this is he case (in FSX) then will have captain/FO main panel views only and without any such side views at all. Try the numeric keypad key strokes as described above .... and let us know. If they don't work then that will be a camera view angle incompatibility with FSX and not a panel issue. Mark C AKL/NZ

Keypad 1-8 appear to work from outside the airplane, but not so inside. No biggie..I'm enjoying all of the other wonderful tidbits this lady has to offer...The screenies showing those views looked very intriguing and I thought I'd try... but alas, I'm not using 2004. I can easily research and set up camera views. Thank you for the rapid response..Terry

OK .... that could mean an FSX specific incompatibility in respect of the applied "camera angle view" .... so long as people understand its' not a missing part of the panel In regard to the panels we offer with interior fligtdeck views .... these FD interior views work "in FS2004", but, "NOT" in FSX .... so the same might (possibly) apply in regard to the applied DC-10 PAX wing views too. Terry .... check your email in about an hours time .... you've got 6 inbounds Mark C AKL/NZ
