Hey folks, first of all thanks a million to all the HJG members/contributors for this outstanding aircraft with amazing sounds and panels! Truly a pleasure to fly in FS9! I have noticed a minor issue with the dc 10-10's and 15's. When viewing the aircraft from the top looking down in spot view, and with the sun high in the sky, the wing textures will continually flicker/bleed through on the inner half of each wing. This anomaly is not seen on the 30's and 40's. I am seeing it on each repaint that I have installed. Any ideas? I would attach a screenshot but I don't see the add file button. Thanks again for the great offering!

No flickering´been reported (that I recall) since these models were first released during late 2014.
Despite our own very minor model editing (none of which applies to any wing surfaces) these models remain pecisely as originally compiled for FS2004.
It could be related to your FS or other graphics related settings .... so you might need to experiment with these.
The wing surfaces of all of the DC-10 tetures offered by us are, or should be, saved in a 32.888 no MIP´s format.
If you´re experencing any issues with this paarticular format then you could perhaps try using a texture conversion utility (such as DXT BMP .... recommended) in order to refomat the wing "ONLY" textures BMP´s into a DXT3 type format .... and see if that solves your particular problem .... even though you shouldn´t need to do this at all. certainly strange. I have just found that even if i load the aircraft without textures this anomaly exists, although it is hard to see without textures. I have tried to upload some photos and 1 screenshot. this occurs no matter my graphics settings, but only with the DC 10-10/15 models, not any variant of the 30 or 40 and not any other model from any other maker. strange
pictures were taken less than 1 second apart with plane stationary

Hi friends: Have also experienced that problem: Will now try to reformate. Done! Same problem: Kind regards Walter P.S.: Have to add that after touchdown the tire smoke is missing, but where it should be a blured space appears. But that also happens with other airplanes in my "hangar".

OK .... so it seems that there "may" (possibly) be an issue that wasn´t previously spotted .... because it only seems to be evident when viwing the upper wing surfaces from very high angles and from above the 3 lots of affected models, but, which isn´t evident when viewed from lower over wing angles as is evidenced by nearly all the screenshots I´ve produced .... and which explains why this particular issue hasn´t been detected previously. This´s what I´ve been seeing previouly (per my own preferred angles of view .... and nothing much higher than) hence my earlier responses .... DC-10-10DC-10-10CF/FDC-10-15I´ve now requested this issue be investigated. That´s all I can do "for the moment folks". Mark C BOG/CO

OK guys .... I think we´ve now indentified the cause of this particular issue.
I won´t go into technical details in order to try´n explain it (other than to say it "IS NOT" a texture related) .... there´s no point in my doing so since few will undrstand it.
Despite our trying to be as thorough as we´re normally reputed to be (these sorts of issues are extremely rare at HJG) it´s a detail we all (including myself) missed during testing .... and more-so because the unwanted effect is only evident from very acute/high angles of view over the wing surfaces and may also be additionally influenced (+ o -) by some FS world time of day/season scenarios too.
Only the DC-10-10, -10CF, and -15 are affected .... but nothing else.
None of this affects the way any of these simulations perform though in regard to their flight/ground dynamics, panel functionality, and audio ambience etc .... so all oprations are entirely normal and unaffected .... save for the unwanted visual effect.
It´s going to take us several days to fix .... and test .... and then release revised files .... and when we do we´ll have no option other than to re-release the DC-10-10, -10CF, and -15 (only) base packs "with revised 3D models".
A release announcement will be made at the appropriate time.

RIGHTY-HO .... we´ve now got the fix. It has been applied to each our 2 DC-10-10 (Early and Late), DC-10-10CF/F (Early and Late), and DC-10-15 models. Below are illustrations showing this issue has now been resolved .... although I am still retesting everything in order to be absolutely sure. .... but each base pack model does appears to have been fixed .... DC-10-10 (early)DC-10-10 (late)DC-10-10CF/F (early)DC-10-10CF/F (late)DC-10-15PLEASE NOTE: These fixes "have not" yet been uploaded .... so don´t go looking and expcting to find them. We´ll announce when they´re uploaded and available for download .... and which will be dictated by personal convenience of course When released the new DC-10-10, -10F, and -15 base packs will each be suffixed "V3.1". I want to thank George CARTY for his prompt attention in resolving this issue .... "THANKS" George Mark C BOG/CO

Walter .... this one´s in answer to your concern in regard to tire smoke upon touch down. As the following images tends to conform .... it "IS" there and "IS" functioning .... The EFFECTS section of each DC-10 CFG.FILE should appear as follows .... Make sure you´ve got the above referenced "TOUCHDOWN" effects file (as bold typed in red) inside your FS "EFFECTS" folder. Let me know if you haven´t got this particular file and if necessary I´ll send it to you. I´m also curious if your absence of tire smoke might be in some way related to the airport scenery your using. Mark C BOG/CO

Hi Mark:
The effect folder contains fx_tchdwn and the aircraft.cfg file reads as yours. The airport I am using is the stock MMUN of FS9. Lets try it again!

OK .... if the effect file is there then there´s no reason why it shouldn´t be working .... in either FS2004 or FSX .... so try it again as you say.
You should be seeing something along the lines of what i´ve presented above.
The only influence which might possibly have some/a degree of impact in regard to what you see/how effects are diplayed is if the airport RWY sceneries you´re using are using are non-default add-on sceneries .... although this would be "an incredibly rare scenario" so far as I´m aware.
All I can say definitively is .... the effects supplied with all of our DC-10´s (and other aircraft types too) are working properly .... as is evidenced above in the case of the DC-10´s.

Hi Mark:
Many thanks for your help. I think it could have to do with downloading a rwy texture, but its not a big affair, so I leave that for the moment.
Kind regards
Walter
