I am fairly new to FS although I did have the first version many years ago. Since that time of course it has developed enormously and I am very impressed, especially with all the add ons.
When I first got into aviation as a 5 year old in 1965 airports, in particular my local, Manchester, were full of Historic Jets and turboprops. I spent many a happy hour on the piers at Ringway as it was popularly known then. What I would like to know is this: is it possible to recreate an airport with all the original buildings and the correct AI traffic for the period, ie mid to late 60s? It would bring back many happy memories and I would be in my element!

Yes, it is indeed possible. Check out www.calclassic.com, and go to the AI Aircraft or Scenery links. There you will find some period-correct scenery and aircraft, both propliners and early jets. The scenery and aircraft are pretty much US-centric, although there is the odd exception, such as Hong Kong's Kai Tak circa 1963. I've also seen some historic UK scenery in my travels, do some searching on www.flightsim.com or www.avsim.com. You're sure to find some (a lot is circa WWII). These sites also have lots of classic AI aircraft, some of which were made by HJG's own designers. Also, being from the UK, you will be delighted with David Maltby's excellent historic British jets - he is the UK equivalent of HJG. Check him out at www.dmflightsim.co.uk/ . Regards, Jim
