Wow, an fabulous gift to the flightsim community. I have been using RCv4 for years and absolutely love it. Cheers, Nathan Hi Nathan! I began using it since two nights now. I always wanted it for a long time never could afford it. It was a big New Years/Christmas gift JDT LLC gave to us all. I am enjoying it. I also like being critiqued although everytime I ended up getting scolded for missing altitude restrictions lol. It is very realistic.

I've been using RC since it first came out many years ago. It is a very good program, though has some limitations. I suggest the following for your enjoyment:
Choose just one voice as "your own" and making as large as possible variety of controller voices and do not overlap AI voices with controller voices for a better experience.
Disable the Hold options. Sometimes RC will issue a hold on approach to an airport that would never experience such at all. You can spend an extra hour or so flying ovals. While such holds may be more realistic at JFK for example, RC seem to do this more on a random basis. Try it if you want but my experience after a decade of using RC is to disable it.
After awhile its altitude assignments are a bit predictable: 15,000, FL230, FL290, then final altitude. As a canned ATC it is also predictable in terms of approach procedure. It does work great with ActiveSky. However, just like in real flying, if the arrival airport is VFR, ask for a visual approach and save yourself some time. It won't handle RNAV approaches, it only does vector approaches to the final ILS. If you want to do that, then use the IAP option and RC will basically release you from control to allow you to fly the approach on your own, it will then come back to tell you to contact the tower close to the airport.
Always check the Controller Info section before a flight. Many times when flying into smaller airports it will unrealistically list a tower. I always cross check that section with airport information on skyvector.com to make sure it's close to reality. You can also put in parking info in that section which is nice.
Under the general options I always use "IFR training" as that gives a more realistic environment. "otherwise RC does too much of the work for you.
Overall it is a FAR superior improvement over the default ATC. Lately I've found vatsim to be much better as you are actually interacting with a live controller which I've learned means I have to be much more "on my toes" in terms of flying and also thinking and using radio skills. However, 95% of the time vatsim doesn't have the controllers available for the flight I'd like to do, so I still use RC for the large majority of my flying.
Anytime you put in a new AFCAD for an airport, update the RC database. The update procedure is a bit clunky in that you have to type in EXACTLY the location of FS or it won't work.
Questions on using RC, feel free to leave them here and I'll help if possible.

Also go to Avsim and search for "meathingyer" files and download the extra voices. There are 10 files. A bit time consuming but free and a welcome addition.
Edit I do not know why I cannot change but search for "Meat Water" files and remove the space.

Wow, those voicepacks look great! I just Dl'd them and will install tomorrow. Once thing that always annoyed me about RC is how slow the controllers talked, specifically the British dude Thanks for this tip!!! Mike

My other hobby is radio scanning which includes monitoring my local airspace, KOKC and KPWA. I can understand them clearer on a actual radio not a simulated voice (digital) recording. I tried Meathingyer's voicepacks. They weren't to my liking. Aviation capable radios sound much better. I'll pass on the Meathingyer Radar Contact packs.
( Why is the site changing M e a t w a t e r to Meathingyer's?)

PROBOARDS forums have a kind of built-in censorship, so, if the system detects a word .... or phrase .... might be offensive (and it can be wrong) then it changes the word accordingly. Settings and protocols for this forum can be adjusted, but, it's hardly worth the/our effort.

I just a few seconds ago looked there. Not pretty and I won't repeat it lol. Crazy words to use for a nickname but its off the topic. I digress. Back to RCv4.3 The critique at the end of flight if flown according to it's instructions will give you Excellent! rating and end up telling you that you can put something out of business. Not to intelligible. I think i need a hearing aid lol.
