I managed to find some spare time back in December to test the latest upgrades to the DC-10. And now I found an extra bag of spare time to post the pics I took back then, that was fast. Nothing too visually striking, just a bunch of quick pics full of something you can't see in them - my super intense enjoyment while using these latest simulations, I absolutely love them, they're my latest favorites, alongside HJG's 727 series. For starters, the wingflex now looks more than acceptable to my eyes. Navigating with the INS is an absolute joy, and a very rewarding experience. Couple that with the unique "flavor" of the DC-10, and the exquisite way in which HJG has been able to reproduce it in FS, and you're in for hours and hours of fun at a time. It's always more enjoyable to land the thing yourself, but it's also delightful to watch the old bird coming back to Terra Firma on its own...all those complex procedures that have to be gotten just right, piece-of-cake-ishly managed by some late 1960s era computers and systems. My gratitude to the HJG team for bringing this jewel to fruition goes on and on and on and on.... All the best, D o r e l

Well, truth be told, I think the "ranking" should be 1-6 George, 7, 8, 9...Mark, Benoit, and then me

M.I.B, glad you're still enjoying the DC-10 (and also glad that the wingflex seems to be working better now) – just think it's a pity that it hasn't attracted more interest.
Is it that too many users have switched to Prepar3D (which we don't support), or is something else (perhaps the complex procedure involved to install HJG products) reducing its appeal?

More'n'more people are transitioning to P3D .... there's absolutely no doubt about that and the fact it "IS" rapidly becoming the favoured FS version of many. Funny this should be raised today .... because I was talking about this with another HJG team member just yesterday. As I've said a number of times previously .... I, personally (meaning me only), don't want to take HJG to P3D. That "should not" be interpreted as HJG not going to P3D .... although it must also be remembered that the source code for a number of HJG offerings and which have brought these from FS2000, to FS2002, and then FS2004 with FSX portability (and which has been both hard and time taxing enough) .... is no longer available/existent. All I'm saying here is .... a P3D transition of HJG .... "IF" it were ever to happen at all .... is for "another future group of HJG team members" .... and that future team would not include myself , by my own choice .... because after 25 years of it (18 years of HJG) there are any number of other things (like scale modeling, depleting the local fish population, and seeing what's over the next hill out in the bush) that I much prefer doing than messing around with FS .... and I want to do these things whilst I still can and before its too late for me to be able to do so I think it's more fundamental than that. What I've seen slowly developing (and not just here either) more'n'more over the past few years (in particular) is that fewer and fewer people bother to comment .... unless there's a major problem (and when/if that happens one would think the sky's falling) or they want something. Similarly .... less and less people seem to bother saying "THANK YOU" now (some do but it's usually the same ones) either .... not that I, personally, expect any thanks at all because I don't, but, when it's expressed by those whom still bother then it "IS" nice to read and "IS" appreciated. In fact the mannerism I've observed becoming more'more prevalent in FS "FREEWARE" (and again it's not just here only) is some people want, and get, and the more they get for "FREE", then, the more demanding/expectant they seem to become .... as well as becoming less appreciative of what they have along with the effort that's brought it all into existence too. Those are my own humble "observations" .... and which "shouldn't" be viewed as criticisms Mark C BOG/CO

Mark, I can't help but wish to second your opinion. Some FSimmers have forgotten that the gifts that are bestowed upon us are that..gifts, and as such, common courtesy (does that still exist?) would dictate a simple "Thank you." I also whole heartily concur with M I B, that the Big 10 are such a blessing and a joy. Since you guys help me get my installation on level keel, it's my goto and my default bootup airplane. I found some neat sites that will instantly give me the coordinates of the waypoints for any route of travel and a trip with the INS is richly rewarding. This is a superb exercise, and the team at HJG should be extremely proud of their work and I'm personally eternally grateful for their gifts..Terry

I think you have summed it up perfectly Mark, FS has moved on now, the glory days were the late 90's to mid 2000's then the complexity and multiple sim types (FS9 and FSX to start with) finishing with P3D which seems to spawn new versions all the time has made FS confusing and FS9 has been left way back. I agree that HJG will probably go to the later sim but like you Mark I will have retired and it will be up to a new "owner" to guide HJG further along the path. Any serious future owners out there?

Sorry, George

You've done all of that George .... and more. You've done "a fine job" .... never doubt or ever try to 2nd guess that What you do .... few others can do .... and of the few whom can do it .... even fewer still are able to do it all as well as you can .... and I think the projects you've worked on, that are represented here, and not just my words alone, are a working FS testimony to this. Always live and work in the confidence of your own unique abilities .... and never in doubt or uncertainty. Always work to satisfy yourself "first" .... before anything or anyone else .... and then with the knowledge that what you do/produce is "superb". Always try to find whatever contentment is to had doing any of this in this way only .... because it's a sad fact of FS, and life, that fewer, and fewer, people today whom benefit from their enjoyment of your technical expertise, and the fact that everything we offer here is "FREE", will ever stop and take a moment to think about the time and effort that goes into any production, or even express their/any gratitude for it all .... and "that" is what FS freeware has become and just the way it all "is" .... unfortunately Mark C AKL/NZ
