I've followed the instructions to the letter on installing DC-8-61F panel however, when i went to the aircraft the gauges were not there. All that was there was many black empty spots on the panel, , wonder what i did wrong?
Below is what I've done.
Panel installation is very easy but please read the following instructions carefully. This is our recommended installation procedure :-
1. This folder contains a sub folder named "panel.DC8-61".
2. Simply install this entire folder "intact" inside your "FSFSCONV" folder .... you should find this folder located inside your FS2004 "AIRCRAFT" folder or FSX "SIMOBJECTS\AIRPLANES" folder. If the folder does not exist you should create it.
3. To make this panel display with your aircraft model you must open the "PANEL" folder inside your HJG DC-8-61 aircraft. It will contain a notepad named "PANEL". Open this notepad and by default it should read as follows :-
[fltsim] alias=B737_400\panel
4. Pay attention to the line "ALIAS=B737_400\PANEL". Change this line to read exactly as follows :-
alias=fsfsconv\panel.DC8-61
The completed notepad entry will then look like this :-
[fltsim] alias=fsfsconv\panel.DC8-61
Mines do look like this but, their are no gauges on the panel just empty holes.
Also is there a way to add a pushback gauge being that, the panel CFG is a read only file?

Hi there a7edriver. Looks like a nice simple easy fix for you. At the very top of the DC8 panels download page on the website you will see the following file “Core Files/gauges v1.6 (required for all panels)” Download the file and follow the installation instructions included in it and that will get you up and running. 👍🏻
Cheers, Nathan

"YES" .... as basically advised by Nathan .... Each of the actual/individual DC-8 panels are "one part only of the panels download"/installation process. The gauges for these panel (and for all HJG panels incidentally) is a 2nd download/part of this panel imnstallation process. You need top download, and install, what´s referred to as being the "PANEL GAUGES/CORE FILES". This file contains all of the necessary panel gauges, and panel sounds, required for each of these DC-8 panel files. Install this data precisely as instructed per the accompanying Installation Instructions .... or .... as is more clearly defined within our following-linked forum based DC-8 manual .... HJG DC-8 MANUAL/INSTALLATIONM & HANDLING NOTEStonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/8019/hjg-panel-installation-handling-notes.... as quoted below also .... An important note re our online/forum based DC-8 manual .... PLEASE NOTE: All imagery featured within this DC-8 manual is currently/once again being impaired by the latest PHOTOBUCKET imposed protocols (this imagery is now either blurred or missing) .... but .... all descriptive/explanatory text remains "unaffected". Whilst we were aware that PB was about to change their image hosting policy (again), this change was actually implemented "after" I left for overseas .... and can´t be rectified until I return from overseas (to my resources) .... and which may be as late as early next year .... so bear with us please ALSO .... if you´re new to the HJG DC-8´s .... it´s "IMPERATIVE" that the above linked manual be studied .... particularly in regard to sections 3, 4, and 5 "at the very least". Almost everything one needs to understand in order to be able to enjoy each of these DC-8 simulations "is" referenced within this manual Mark C BOG/CO

The DC-8 PANEL GAUGES/CORE FILES are located at the very top of the following-linked DC-8 Panel Downloads page .... simviation.com/hjg/panels1/douglas.htm.... above the DC-8 SHIP ONE 1958 panel file. The file is clearly displayed as follows .... Core Files/gauges v1.6 (required for all panels) By M. Balzarotti, M. Verlin, S. Weiher, G. Carty, B. Plamondon Last Updated: Dec 2018Download this file .... and take care to install it "precisely as instructed" above. Mark C BOG/CO

Glad you appear to be sorted now .... be sure to study the associated forum based manual as linked above.
As you´re "new" to HJG .... be aware that separate panel files and gauge files exist in the case of "each of HJG´own panel productions and edits".
The only panel files we offer which download with their gauges components "included" (not as separate files) are those for ARJ/BAe BAe 146/ARJ, CARAVELLE´s, CONCORDE, MD-80/90/B717-200, and MERCURE 100 .... each of these sumulations being imported and not HJG produced/edited panel files.
