Hi All,
It's been a while since I posted on this forum and no mistake! Two days ago I decided to fly on my FS9 sim and chose to fly HJG's DC9-50, what a pleasure! It then crossed my mind (yes it does exist, but only in limited quantity) to try and put the A/C onto my FSX. I followed all the advise given on the excellent posts on this forum, but, (there's that word again!), I came up against the same problem on every method I tried. When I select the A/C in the menu before it shows in the picture I get four warnings that certain of the gauge files will not work because they are of a now unsupported format. This I assume is the reason that although I have most of the A/C showing I don't have all views, I don't for example have the Autopilot or the small sub panel below it with the altitude selector, when I select the Speed cards I get them but the area behind them only the upper half has any picture and that is of an exterior view, the lower half of the screen is blacked out, when I look to my left, right, behind, oblique left, and oblique right all I see is an exterior picture ( when I look behind I do get a picture of the wings!).
Is there a work around for this problem? I haven't listed all the problems I have because I am assuming that a fix for the old gauges will fix the other snags as well.
Thanking you in anticipation,
mog

Well, if you are familiar with editing and substituting gauge files in the Panel Cfg file is one way to make it work in FSX. However that is a tedious and lengthy process. I use a panel built for a DC-9 in FSX and it works quite well. It is a very authentic panel, 2d only, so it will not have all the bells and whistles in it. Search for dc9 panel for fsx and it will come up. I have been using it for several years and works great. Falcon

"MOG" .... if you´re trying to use our own DC-9 panels in FSX .... then "DON´T" .... please .... because our own DC-9 panels "are not" FSX compatible. PLEASE NOTE: Our DC-9 aircraft base packs and textures "ARE" FSX portable though .... BUT .... our current DC-9 sound packs "ARE NOT" FSX compatible. PLEASE NOTE ALSO: We cannot (on ths forum ) provide tehnical support fo any "non-HJG" supplied files that may be used with any of the simulations offer .... sorry about that "MOG" Mark C BOG/CO

OK my thanks to both Falcon and you Mark for your timely responses, I will continue to play with it using the Panel you suggested and as many bits and pieces I can find, because I'm like that!
If I have any luck I'll post the details here.

There is a panel conversion "kit" for the HJG DC-9 panels on FlightSim.com. Can't remember the name of the person who posted it, but he basically went through and took all the gauges that weren't supported and replaced them with gauges that are. It does require you to download the DC-8 and another aircraft's core gauges from HJG, but they work.

The other alternative file/s to which you refer were released by Ken WIGGINTON .... and are intended for "FSX USE ONLY". I´ve since heard reports though that some aspects of these other edits aren´t totally compatible with what we offer here (and that statements "NOT" intended to demean the effort/s of this other editor in any way shape or form) .... and people do need to know this .... given what we offer here, and in regard to its technical functionality, if not it´s very high degree of fidelity too, is thanks entirely to the "programming expertise and aviation technical knowlege" of George CARTY (who´s FS shoe´s I doubt anyone else can fill) .... and albeit that what we offer here "is not" (yet) FSX compatible, not through our lack desire/will or ability to be able do so though, but rather, our lack of time within which to be able to do so given everything else we have scheduled and which needs to prioritised in accodance with some of our longer established plans. "IF" people opt to use these other alternative panels versions "for FSX" .... then (again) they´re free to make that choice .... of course .... BUT .... in doing so they also need to accept that we will be "unable to provide technical assistance" in the event of any issues. HJG can only provide support for what it produces and offers "HERE" Mark C BOG/CO

"NO" .... I don´t know .... and haven´t heard anything about it either.
I´m only prepared to comment in regard to what I do know.
In regard to the "other" alternative ....
I do recall the the author stating within his own documentation that his FSX edits were "mostly" (I believe is the term he used) compatible with the HJG product/s .... but which doesn´t imply full/total compatibility in respect of "our own" intrerpretation of the meaning of "HJG compatibility.
I´m not prepared to comment further than this though.

Aharon, I said I've been using this for at least 4 years if not more, on many DC-9 models and it works great. You just don't have the extras but I'm into hand flying not the rest Falcon
