"BAD" day for B707 enthusiasts .... maybe .... BUT .... someone (the scrappers) would probably have made money out of it.
The reality though Darren is (and as I've said here a number of times previously) .... these things are often worth more "in scrap" than most (whom would like to see them preserved) can, or are willing to, pay in order to ensure their preservation.
And even if saved/preserved .... then they still require enormous a lot of money to be spent on them for their upkeep/maintenance.

Thanks everyone; it's always good to know this stuff is appreciated! Next up is one of the more unusual airlines ever to exist- Hooters Air (For our non-American members, Hooters is a restaurant/bar chain known mainly for its tank top and shorts-clad female wait staff). All operations were conducted by Pace Airlines with 737-200s and -300s, as well as a single 757, and they primarily served golf and leisure destinations in the southeastern US. All flights had a normal crew complement, but flight attendants were assisted by a pair of "Hooters Girls." Regarded more as a marketing stunt than anything else, it operated from 2003 to 2006.

Really enjoying the new repaints, they are all fabulous. I wonder if Twitter will do something similar and call it “Tweeters?” 🤔😝
Cheers, Nathan

As requested, here's N88ZL as seen around 2012. I'm not sure if it's ever taken to the air in this livery, as the only pictures I've seen are of it stored at Miami-Opa Locka Airport. Still, it's one of a dwindling number of its kind out there, and certainly one of the best-looking!

Stylish 707. Too bad that her engines (JT3Ds) aren't as economic as todays engines (fuel/exhaust gases). But don't we all love such classic birds like the 707 and others of her generation (60s to early 80s)?

But don't we all love such classic birds like the 707 and others of her generation (60s to early 80s)? That's why we're here! And thank you! A couple of additions to our Northwest DC-10 lineup: After the 1986 merger with Republic, Northwest dropped the "Orient" from their name, which they had been using since about 1950 (legally the name was always simply "Northwest," however). The livery didn't change, and the titles were simply shortened to reflect this. Here's N161US, as seen around 1989. Later in 1989, they introduced the new "Bowling Shoe" colors, though it took well into the mid-'90s to repaint the whole fleet. In the interim period, the new tail logo was applied to the existing livery, and the Northwest-KLM logo promoting their alliance was added. The engines were also painted white as in the new livery. This is N156US, circa 1992.

Thanks Alex! Glad you like it One new one for now- N760AL of USAir circa 1980. This was one of two new 727-200 Advanceds ordered by Allegheny in 1979, although they were both delivered with this short-lived white USAir livery in anticipation of the official rebranding that took place in October of that year. Another batch of 727s was delivered between 1981 and 1983, with the majority of them being aircraft that had been built for other customers but not taken up.
