Hello,
This is my first post to the group. I've been using HJG aircraft and adding textures to my FS9 successfully when it was running on my former Win7 machine, but I've been running into problems on my new rig. It's a little complicated, but here goes (if I left out any information, please let me know).
Example: I successfully downloaded and installed Boeing 727-100, "VL HJG B727-100 Early v1.2" I added textures for Eastern (texture.eastern_air_lines_shuttle_plus_1986_25_n8142n), United (texture.united_1990_022_n7014u), and Condor (texture.d-abir_condor_727-30_1980). I added to the Aircraft.cfg file as instructed (as I did on my Win7 setup), numbering from 0 to 2 for the 3 textures. Doublechecked the SIM callout for the correct Air file on each texture added text. (I just Cntrl-A and Cntrl-C to copy the entire "add to aircraft" note, then Cntrl-V to past it into the aircraft.cfg file, to avoid typos and missed text.) All looks good, but when I open FS9, only United and Condor show up.
Similar problems with the DC-10-10 - United shows, but not Continental
What's REALLY strange: I had installed the DC-10-30 with Condor textures, and it showed fine. But when I tried to add Continental (texture.continental_airlines_1987_30_n12061), Continental won't show. Then I completely deleted the entire DC-10-30, reinstalled with ONLY the Continental texture, BUT then FS9 calls out "Condor" with blank textures (because that texture isn't installed). The aircraft.cfg file DOES NOT have the section for Condor, but if I put the Condor texture back in, FS9 will show it even without the text in the aircraft.cfg file.
Something isnt' right, but I don't think it's in the files (they worked on my WIN7 machine before).
Does anyone know if there are issues with this with FS9 running on Win10, and what's the fix, if any? I'm stumped. (My only modification to FS9 was to add the "no-cd" patch so I can open it without the disc.) My FSUIPC is current 3999z9b. I also have FSX on the machine with FSUIPC4. But that shouldn't affect how FS9 behaves, should it?
I've double- and triple-checked the textures - the HJG website shows these textures for these aircraft (unless I'm really missing something). I know some 727-200s have variants, and I've not tried to install them on this rig yet (they worked on my old rig).
Re-starting the computer, purging deleted files from the recycle bin (which shouldn't matter) makes not difference. I don't see anything strange in the aircraft.cfg files (which I edit only to add texture call-outs).
Thanks for any help.

So far as I'm aware/have seen (and even used in regard to other peoples FS installations) .... FS9 runs, or can be made to run, fine within a WIN 10 environment .... though having said this I've also heard of/read ports ("not here" though) in regard people experiencing difficulties with FS9 in WIN 10. I don't use WIN 10 so can only state what I know on the basis of what I've seen personally .... and provide "basic advice". "IF" .... one can successfully run FS9 within a WIN 10 environment then they shouldn't have any difficulty installing HJG, or any other, FS aircraft either .... unless any mistake/s are being made in regard to installation/s. There "is" a minor imposition in regard to installations of all HJG B737-200's (a situation that was forced upon us during 2015 .... and which we've had to cope with as best we can .... easily resolved though if only people would "CAREFULLY" read the installation instructions accompanying each B727-200 aircraft base pack) .... HOWEVER .... I note your B727 installations appear to be -100's .... but .... this said imposition (associated with our B727-200's only) doesn't yet apply to any of our -100's. I needed to state this before some people go barking up the wrong tree Reading you description (quoted above) I'm inclined toward suspecting your difficulties are most probably being created by simple installation/file configuration errors .... possibly textures being assigned to wrong base packs/models, or, a valid file still being contained within a containing folder from original texture or aircraft base pack ZIP files .... or the like .... since this "does" happen and you won't be the first to make that mistake if should such apply to your particular case. What I'm hinting at here is .... "IF" some of your textures are displaying within FS9, and within WIN 10 also, then they should all display equally fine .... provided no installation mistakes have been made to start with. To try'n fast track assisting your query I'd you you to do the following :- 1. I want you to copy and paste the FLTSIM.XX data from the CFG.FILE's in regard to those textures your apparently experiencing difficulties with. PLEASE NOTE .... copy & paste just the "FLTSIM.XX data only" for these textures (as it currently appears in the case of your attempted installations/) and "NOT" the entire AIRCRAFT.CFG file please. 2. I also want you to make and post an image (or images) showing the file contents of the aircraft base packs that you're apparently experiencing difficulties with. It'd be "far more helpful" to me/us if we can "SEE" actual evidence (like is requested above) of "precisely what you've done" .... otherwise support can tend to become more of an elongated guessing game on our part given the multitudes of possibilities that might apply in regard to any issues. So far as I'm aware there's no issues associated with the CONDOR, EASTERN, and UNITED texture files that you've identified .... but .... I will check these file later/when I can just to be certain. Also .... you've not defined precisely which CONTINENTAL and UNITED DC-10 textures you're trying to install, so, before any progress can be made in respect of any of these textures I/we need to know "precisely which of these particular files" you're referring to .... since several variations of these liveries apply among our DC-10-10, -10CF/F, -30, and -30CF/F texture inventory. Hi Dand, I concur with Mark in that I would like to see copies of your flightsim.xx data. I have been using Windows 10 with FS9 for some time now and have never had a problem with it. There is definitely something fishy going on. đ
Something I do, when copying the âadd to aircraftâ is highlight the text and right mouse click, copy and then paste. That way you can be sure of exactly what and where you are copying and too.
Cheers, Nathan

I use Windows 10 on my laptop sadly... It is a lousy rotten OS compared to Win7 which I use on my main PC but that aside, I have managed to get FS9 running on Win10 no issues but make sure the aircraft.cfg is assigned to notepad to open and edit, also make sure your permissions allow you to edit it, Win10 is very strict in standard mode so make sure your security settings allow you to edit notepad etc... Not sure if that helps but hope it does

I don't have WIN 10 (as I mentioned with another recent thread), but, I do have access to it (not for FS purposes though) .... and "do" use it accordingly. Personally .... I've had no problems using it. Like is the case when moving to anything "new" though and after years of familiarity with another system/configuration .... it's just "a matter of adaptability". NOW THEN .... AND JUST TO TRY'N KKEP THE NOSE WHEEL ON THE CENTRE LINE HERE "DAND" .... show us what you've got please (as I requested above) .... and we'll take matters from there .... and hopefully discover, and be able to advise, how to resolve yoiur issue. It's better for us to be able to "SEE" precisely what your situation actually is in order to, hopefully, be able to resolve it for you or otherwise advise accordingly Busy day for me tomorrow though (and for the next few days also), so, my attendance "here" will be in accordance with convenience/my own personal availability Mark C AKL/NZ

Hi Friends:
I am using WIN 10 now and having copied my FS 9 installed under WIN 7 from my old computer, it works on the new one without problems.
BUT: changing cfg. files in WIN 10 can be more tricky as in WIN 7 as inadvertently you may work in more than one window of the same file. So close all windows and open the aircraft.cfg file and check how it looks now.
Kind regards
Walter

I've just looked at the 3 B727-100 textures you've identified above. The CFG stated SIM= data for each is correct. The CFG stated TEXTURE= data for each is acceptable (in accordance with their Texture folder names) too. Both the CFG stated UI MANUFACTURER and UI TYPE data lines for each are also correct. And the CFG stated UI IDENTIFIER data for each is acceptable (if not correct) as well. However only the data for the UNITED AIRLINES 1990 texture actually conforms with all of the required/expected HJG required CFG stated FLTSIM.XX data protocols. I have noted discrepancies in the case of the CFG stated TITLE= data lines for 2 of the 3 textures you say you have. 2 of these TITLE= data lines (those for both EASTERN AIR LINES SHUTTLE PLUS 1977 and CONDOR FLUGDEINST 1980 texture subjects are both quite different from each other .... and different again from the "correct" UNITED AIRLINES 1990 data .... as is evidenced below .... title=Vistaliners Boeing 727-100
title=Vistaliners Boeing 727-30
title=HJG Boeing 727-100 If either of these subjects were single only installations in any CFG file then probably no issue/s, at all, would result .... BUT .... if these current 3, as well as other variations of this particular TITLE= data are copied and pasted into the very same CFG, then, it does have the potential to create display/presentation issues for FS .... "from what I've seen that's been reported here, investigated, and resolved by me within the past 36 months. PLEASE NOTE: The first part of the CFG stated TITLE= data line for any subject (that's the data ahead of the airline/operator name and livery date eithin the TITLE= data line) needs to be "absolutely uniform" (from the first to last FLSTSIM.XX entry in each CFG.FILE) in order to guarantee avoiding issues. Failure to ensure this can result in FS not recognizing and displaying some FLTSIM.XX texture installations compiled into the very same CFG (se we've learned only since 2017 .... since some of these textures were eleased) .... as was proven to have bee the case within the following-linked report .... tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/9097/boeing-737-300-passenger-texturesAt least 2 or 3 other such reports have been successfully resolved here at HJG and within the past 36 months .... that I can recall .... but .... the above-linked report is the best example of these. For whatever reason this imposition may tend happen on some systems more than others though, but again, it does seem that too much variation within the initial part of each CFG stated TITLE= data "can" lead to such issues ... in accordance with the above evidence. Within the past 12 months HJG has taken steps in order to try'n ensure the uniformity of critical texture related FLTSIM.XX CFG statements for all texture files released within this period and until now .... save for the odd "typo" that can, and has, still been known to occur due to tiredness or other interruptions/impositions at the time of such data compilation .... so .... people do need to be vigilant since even the very best among "us" can, and do, occasionally, make mistakes For the sake of your 3 B727-100 texture installations though I think we should first try'n ensure their FLTSIM.XX data is all "standardized" .... in order to avoid potential for any problem/s such as I've described above .... so I've recompiled the data for each of these below and for you to add to your CFG file to substitute/correct the original incorrect and potentially problematic data entries you will have had prior to now .... [fltsim.xx] // Change "xx" to next number in sequence starting from 0 title=HJG Boeing 727-100 Condor Flugdeinst 1980 sim=B727100_VL model= panel= sound= texture=d-abir_condor_727-30_1980 atc_id=D-ABIR atc_heavy=0 atc_flight_number=721 atc_airline=CONDOR atc_parking_codes=CFG atc_parking_types=GATE ui_manufacturer=Boeing ui_type=727-100 ui_variation=Condor Flugdeinst (1980) description=One of the most successful commercial jet airliners ever designed. [fltsim.xx] // Change "xx" to next number in sequence starting from 0 title=HJG Boeing 727-100 United Airlines 1990 sim=B727100_VL model= panel= sound= texture=united_1990_022_n7014u atc_id=N7014U atc_heavy=0 atc_flight_number=721 atc_airline=UNITED atc_parking_codes=UAL atc_parking_types=GATE ui_manufacturer=Boeing ui_type=727-100 ui_variation=United Airlines (1990) description=One of the most successful commercial jet airliners ever designed. Be aware of this potential issue in the future .... and be prepared to correct it accordingly should you observe any other similar discrepancies. Again .... the one B727-100 texture which isn't displaying in your case could well be caused by the like of what I've indicated above. Ordinarily 2 lots of variations within CFG stated TITLE= data lines probably won't cause any issues such as I've described .... but .... 3 or more lots of inconsistencies/variations "may" be likely to pose problems. Save for any other installation errors we can't detect in your case and at this moment of reply .... this .... at least .... should resolve "part of your problem" .... or rather lessen the tendency for any issue/s to occur. Identify precisely which DC-10 subjects you have that are apparently similarly problematic please .... and I'll review them accordingly also .... but .... only as I get time to do so Mark C AKL/NZ

I forgot to add .... When copying & pasting the above revised FLTSIM.XX data for each of these 3 textures to your CFG file (all go to the early production B727-100 aircraft base pack CFG) .... don't forget to ensure each FLTSIM.XX entry is edited to read in correct numerical sequence. It should be obvious .... but I/m reminding anyway Again this action should "A START" (only) to resolving you issue/s .... with these 3 B727-100 textures at least. Mark C AKL/NZ

Looks like my reply from yesterday didn't go through? So, trying again.
First, thanks Mark and others for the replies. Things didn't work. I copied Mark's FLTSIM.xx texts completely, to avoid any errors, and overwrote my B727-100 Aircraft.CFG text. Below is the new string. FS9 shows only Condor and United, not Eastern. I suspect there's something odd going on with FS9, so I'll keep trying. I won't deal with the DC-10 or DC-9 issues until this sorts out. One thing at a time.
If you spot something, and whenever, just let me know. Again, thanks, and no rush - I really appreciate the help whenever you can give it.

Thanks for getting back to us Dan.
So your EAL subject still isn't displaying ?
Ensuring uniformity within that first part of the TITLE= data line should have resolved this .... based on past experience and the earlier above-linked forum report.
The critical FLTSIM.XX data lines with regard to any FS installation are ....
TITLE= SIM= TEXTURE= UI MANUFACTURER= UI TYPE= UI VARIATION=
If your using default PANEL and SOUND options (or have the CFG files within this folder and that are correctly aliased to other sources) then no problem/s should occur either .... as indeed seems to be the case with your CONDOR and UNITED installation at least and which aren't posing any such problems.
So far as I can determine .... your 3 revised FLTSIM.XX data entries (as recommended by me) are each consistent and correct now, so, there's no logical reason for just the EAL texture to not display within FS .... short of some form of less obvious file configuration/installation error or possibly even a file corruption.
There's no spelling errors/typo's within the FLTSIM data for your EAL texture .... that I can easily spot at least.
You could try deleting the "SHUTTLE PLUS" (only) portion of the EAL TITLE= and UI VARIATION descriptions just in case your FS9 doesn't like the unusually longer name .... this's a very long shot in the dark, but, one that's certainly worth a try.
Have you tried deleting and reinstalling/re-downloading and reinstalling your entire B727-100 package .... aircraft base pack and textures .... the whole lot .... and then using the FLTSIM.XX data I've recommended ?
Check that your EAL texture folder isn't still contained within another containing folder from its original ZIP file .... although if it were then that'd typically result in a "blank" model being displayed within the FS9 aircraft selection menu.
You could also try deleting the following CFG references too ....
// Change "xx" to next number in sequence starting from 0
.... although due to their being "commented out" these shouldn't pose any influence at all .... in fact over the past 14 years I'm ware of "one" situation only where this data could possibly have played some part in respect of stubborn texture installation.
I'll recheck the EAL texture (but honestly I don't think there's anything wrong with it) and report back later.

OK .... as is evidenced below I've just checked the EAL SHUTTLE PLUS 1986 N8142N texture we currently offer. I've tested it in FS9 .... albeit that I'm using a different OS. My texture's installed precisely in accordance with my own above recommended edits. As can be seen below this texture, in FS9, is fine .... in my case at least .... I'm by no means doubting (by any stretch of the imagination) that you're experiencing "a problem" with this particular texture Dan, but, it seems that whatever issue you're experiencing isn't one that may be arising as a result of this file as we offer it. I can now only assume that something on your WIN 10 based system (which I can't determine) may be preventing this particular texture being recognized and displayed in the case of your own installation .... though needless to say you shouldn't be experiencing any such issues whatsoever by virtue of the fact we know these files work in FS9, and within the WIN 10 environment too, and the other 2 textures you've installed within the very same base pack aren't posing any such issues for you. I can only stress you inspect what I've earlier today suggested you check/cross-check/and re-check. I'm going to send you a reformatted version of this texture (saved in a 32.888 BITT NO MIPS format) for you to try .... so check your email. I can see your forum registered email address, so, in the interests of your own personal security don't go posting it publicly here please Let me know the results (here on this thread) of your testing this reformatted texture .... although I'd be "very surprised indeed" if what I send you does result in any difference at all, but, try it anyway Mark C AKL/NZ

Hi Dan, Using Win10 and FS2004, I installed the same three aircraft in the same order as you did and all three installed fine Iâm afraid. When you say the aircraft isnât showing, do you mean in the FS9 aircraft menu, or do you mean that the textures arenât showing up (just a greyed out plane)? Can you also please have a look all of the way through your aircraft.cfg and make sure that the fltsim.xx data for Eastern Shuttle didnât accidentally get entered in twice? Lastly there is a program that I use for checking ai aircraft that also work with flyable aircraft called AI-Aircraft Editor v2 link . If you install it, click on fs9 in the main screen and navigate to your VL HJG B727-100 Early v1.2 location it will tell you if the AC Status folder is OK. If there is a problem it will let you know. Iâll fwd some pics showing what to do shortly... Nathan

Mark, thanks again for all you work and suggestions. Let's put a pause on this while I keep trying things at my end.
I shortened the name of the texture folder and made the same edit to the texture line in the CFG, to no avail. But I'll look for typos, etc.
When I add textures to my AC I always take the entire "add to aircraft" text (Cntl-A to select it all, and Cntl-C to copy it all) and then paste it in, so I'm not doing any typing of my own.
I assume the order of the textures in the AC folder doesn't need to match the order they're in the CFG, but I even moved Eastern around to see.
I suspect something else is going on, beyond this one texture, as I've had problems with DC-10s and DC-9s. Don't know what it is.
So, thanks again - it's not the end of the world, as I can fly the AC with other textures, but it's a pain. If I solve anything, I'll let you know.

FLTSIM.XX/Texture data can be copied & pasted in any order within any CFG (so long as all of the FLTSIM.XX entries read in correct numerical sequence) .... that won't matter .... because FS is always going to display/prioritize these (within its Aircraft Selection Menu) in accordance with alphabetical order anyway and to start with.
The shortening of text I was referring to is actually in regard to that appearing with the TITLE= and UI VARIATION lines of the FLTSIM.XX data and not the actual Texture folder name (just drop the SHUTTLE PLUS references for your EAL texture but retain the rest as-is), but, always ensure the first part of each of your TITLE= data lines read with absolute uniformity for each FLTSIM.XX data added .... HJG Boeing 727-100 in the case of these particular subjects.
I presume the reformatted texture I sent you hasn't worked then ?
Sorry you're experiencing these difficulties (when you shouldn't be) because these are nice simulations to fly.
