Hi friends: After one year running succesfully FS9 under Win 10, yesterday after producing the AF Tu-154M screenshot I closed my laptop and after a new start the WIN10 changed to a new look and FS9 does not start anymore. Any Ideas? ? Walter

"IF" .... this is a problem created by a recent MS update (and it probably is), then, Tom GIBSON, on his forum, dedicates an entire thread advising what the problem is and how to go about resolving it. Use the following link to review this information .... IF YOUR FS2004 WILL NOT START UP READ THIScalclassic.proboards.com/thread/7470/fs2004-start-readIf the information contained within the above link doesn't help, then, it'll likely be beyond the realms of HJG to be able to assist/advise in regard to this. Naturally we don't want to risk potentially making matters worse by telling people to the wrong thing, but, the information provided on Ton's forum is "always a very good bet" .... hence my having no hesitation recommending it to you Mark C AKL/NZ

Walter, as one who has been down this road with W7, one thing to try is using a restore point from a few months ago. and then immediately disable ALL windows updates. Windows updates seem necessary, but I've been running my FS computer for 5 years now (W7) without a single update and it is working fine. I don't use it for general use, but it does connect to the web for flight sim purposes: downloading files, Active Sky while running.
For all other uses I have a year old laptop running W10. It can update as much as it wants as it is used for browsing, Word, Excel, photo storage etc. When FS2020 comes out I plan on a new computer to run it. That will be interesting as FS2020 will really require parallel access to the internet while running, so updating may be impossible to avoid.

Windows updated to version 2004 ! just recently and many have had issues with it, I am two behind that and have no intention of going for the last one!! Check what version of Windows 10 you are running now, let us know and we can see if anyone else has similar issues with that version you have

Hi friends:
As my Laptop is an ACER I tried to solve the problems via their help page and at least WIN 10 did now install correctly but in the new version. Now I am working to find ways that FS works as before.
Thanks to all of You

Hi Toni:
My windows is now Ver. 1903 as downloaded from ACER help homepage. My operating system 18362.900
ACER Intel i7 85500 64 bits x64 processor.
My FS 9 (update 9.1) no CD works now well starting it as administrator.
BUT: PT airplanes dont work gauges are missing. Same happened to the HJG DC 9-30. So far I could check. My other Russian simplanes Tu-104, Tu-114, Tu-124 work flawless, their navigators panel also in e.g. HJG CV 990A.
Thanks for your efforts
Walter

Hi Tony:
This update was exactly that, what ACER proposed to download. What I am uneasy is rolling back, as that could be bring me a non working Win 10 again. So I will try to sort out, what caused the loss of gauges.
Kind regards
Walter
