A very extensive historical documentary (in 2 parts) about the national and international operations of 40 SQN RNZAF between 1943 and the 1990's .... 40 SQDN RNZAF - Kia Nga Hau E Wha/To The 4 Windswww.youtube.com/watch?v=h0TfNpeDASoFormed during 1943 .... operating C-47/DC-3, HUDSON/LOADSTAR aircraft in support of transport, supply, and other logistics operations between NZ and throughout the WW2 Pacific theater .... to the SQDN's disbanding and transition into NZ NATIONAL AIRWAYS CORPORATION (NZNAC) during the late 1940's .... then its 1950's resurrection and DC-6 and HASTINGS operations .... to its 1960's acquisition of C-130's during the 1960's .... followed by B727's during the 1980's .... all in response to ever changing international transport and supply/logistics requirements in accordance with NZ's foreign policy support roles in cases of regional conflicts among other police actions, peace keeping, and humanitarian aid roles .... all of which have taken 40 SQDN RNZAF to Antarctica, Borneo, Indonesia, Iran, Kuwait, Malaya, Somalia, and Vietnam and elsewhere in accordance with the 4 winds of necessity. NZ may be a small country (in a global sense) but its military services successfully and "more than adequately" fulfil their fair share of NZ's responsibility to the world we live in .... anywhere/everywhere and whenever need arises.
