This's essentially a news item and "NOT" a website update notice.
It's just that "for reasons of convenience" a number of "upgraded" and/or "replacement files have just been released (in advance of our next/intended website update .... it's often easier to address these sorts of files separate to any actual website update) and that we want to draw to community attention.
Therefore be advised as follows ....
1. Both of the following C-135B JT3D textures files were recently discovered to have been "corrupted" ....
1978 - 62-4125 - VC-135B
Textures by Erik Ingram

Both original files were uploaded during early July. Both were recently found/reported to be corrupted (PLEASE NOTE: This can sometimes happen .... for a multitude of reasons .... only we can't be aware until such is reported to us, so, in the event one ever has concerns about the integrity of any file downloaded from this website, then for God sake bring that to our attention so we can investigate accordingly .... otherwise we can't know of any potential issue/s). These files have now been replaced.
Each of the above 2 replacement ZIP files are now suffixed "V2"
Both files are located on our "C-135" downloads page .... within the "C-135 JT3D" section of this page. Use each of the above texture subjects with the following recommended HJG supplied aircraft base pack, panel, and sound pack files ....
"C-135 JT3D" Aircraft Base Pack.
"B707-120B 1965" Panel.
"B707 P&W JT3D-3B FAN-JET" Sound pack (FS2004 compatible only).
2. During 2003 my friend and FS FRANCE colleague Gilles MERCIER supplied us with 3 AIR AFRIQUE DC-8 SUPER 63 textures .... featuring the same aircraft (TU-TCF) with 3 different configurations as was supported by this particular aircraft between 1983 and 1985 .... as follows
AIR AFRIQUE DC-8 SUPER 63 TU-TCF (1983) .... standard PAX configuration
AIR AFRIQUE DC-8 SUPER 63 TU-TCF (1985) .... PAX/cargo "combi" configuration (forward cabin windows blinded)
AIR AFRIQUE DC-8 SUPER 63 TU-TCF (1985) .... cargo/"pure freighter" configuration (all cabin windows blinded)
Somehow (although I'm buggered if I know how) the 1983 standard PAX version of these 3 textures ended up on our "standard DC-8 SUPER 63" downloads page "in error". This error has now been "corrected" .... with the 1983 texture now joining its 2 1985 "combi" and "pure freighter" counterparts on our "DC-8 SUPER 63F" dowloads page .... after all TC-TUF was a SUPER 63CF and not a standard -63 from the time it was built.
In correcting this error all 3 of these AIR AFRIQUE DC-8 SUPER 63 textures have now been converted from their original DXT3 to an EXTENDED 32.888 NO MIPS format .... and as a result each will now display better/sharper than their originals. The difference/s with each of these 3 textures has also now been clarified per their accompanying ADD TO AIRCRAFT/FLTSIM.XX texture data too .... which has been edited to read, and display within FS, as follows ....
AIR AFRIQUE 1983
AIR AFRIQUE (combi) 1985
AIR AFRIQUE CARGO 1985
Each of the above 3 replacement ZIP files are also now suffixed "V2".
Each of these files are located on our "DC-8-63F" downloads page. Use each of the above texture subjects with the following recommended HJG supplied aircraft base pack, panel, and sound pack files ....
"DC-8-63F" Aircraft Base Pack.
"DC-8-62/63" Panel.
"DC-8 P&W JT3D-7 FAN-JET" Sound pack (select either FS9 or FSX files in accordance with one's FS version of choice).
I'm now going to seize this opportunity to digress in regard to our DC-8-50F through DC-8-73F subjects .... in relation to their forward fuselage main deck cargo door animations in particular.
All of our DC-8-50F through DC-8-73F models feature animated cargo doors (so do our DC-8-30F and -40F models too but their cargo door animations work on the basis of entirely different, and less potentially problematic, keyboard commands than is being related herein) ....
This animation works per the following keyboard commands ....
SHIFT+E+2
It's known these keyboard commands, in any simulation (not just ours), can sometimes be unreliable. There "IS" an easy solution to this though in the form of a "non HJG supplied" file/utility (gauge) that will, when installed and correctly configured, resolve issues with model animations reliant upon the sometimes temperamental "SHIF+E+2" keyboard commands. This file/utility is named as follows ....
Selection Correction Gauge
This files is available from FS.COM .... it's actual file name is as follows ....
rcbse-10.zip
Simply download this file. Extract its contents to a temporary folder. Read the accompanying installation instructions "first" .... but .... all one essentially needs to do is drag and drop the included "SelectCorrect" gauge/file into one's FS "GAUGES" folder .... then, and in accordance with the installation instructions, add the name of the gauge to one's DC-8 PANEL.CFG file (as instructed) .... and save this edit. Upon doing this correctly all one then needs to do is .... (a) start FS and select/load one's DC-8F simulation of choice (one that uses the edited panel) .... then .... (b) shut FS down again after successfuly loading and letting the simulation stabilize within FS (this's an essential step in order for FS to recognize both the new gauge and PANEL.CFG edit) .... then .... (c) restart FS a 2nd time and once again select/load one's same DC-8F simulation of choice .... AND FINALLY .... go to external view and select keyboard commands "SHIFT+E+2" and the cargo door animation (for each DC-8 simulation featuring this PANEL.CFG gauge edit) should/"WILL" work flawlessly every time afterward. In fact it can't not work .... if installed correctly. I'm using this particular gauge myself, and have been doing so for the past few years now, and "CAN" therefore endorse its use
3. We've also just replaced our recently uploaded "RC-135 J57" aircraft base pack. This new file has been updated with further fine-tuned MOI data .... and is now "V6.1" PLEASE NOTE: For one's comfort of mind .... there weren't any issues with this new base pack when it was first uploaded during June and apart from the said MOI fine-tuning none of its file content has been altered in any way. It's just that we fo like to try'n perfect what we offer .... where possible (though sometimes this isn't possible for a variety of reasons). Information concerning the original new file released during July .... may be reviewed per the following link ....
tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/9778/new-military-aircraft-base-pack
Use this RC-135 J57 aircraft base pack with the following recommended HJG supplied panel and sound pack files ....
"B367-80" Panel.
"C-135 P&W J57 NO REVERSE" Sound pack (FS2004 compatible only).
Refresh your internet browser (use SHIFT + F5 keyboard commands) "prior to" viewing and trying to accessing the latest offerings on each of the HJG DOWNLOADS pages.
Contact us in the event of any queries or problems .... but .... kindly post all technical queries on the appropriate "AIRCRAFT TYPE SUPPORT" forum pages and "not in response to this announcement".
PLEASE NOTE: There's no point, or sense, in seeking technical assistance for HJG files outside this forum. The only reason we state this is due to evidence of incorrect advice we've noted posted on other forums in the past .... and which is obviously of concern to us given the length this group "tries to go" in order to assist peoples enjoyment of what we offer. People can do what they wish .... of course .... BUT .... people do also need to remember the knowledge base which understands and has brought each of these simulations into existence and is best able to provide support for these files can only be found "HERE" .... at HJG.
Thanks to Peter LIDDELL for his assistance in attending to these latest file replacements/improvements

Size: 6,556 Date: 07-04-2005
FS2004 Gauges--Selection Correction Gauge. Does one of these problems sound familar? 1. In my multi-engine aircraft, suddenly the throttle controller only works for engine 1. 2. In an aircraft that has an Exit-2, Exit-2 cannot be closed/opened by typing (default keys) the key sequence Shift-E 2 (instead Exit-1 opens/closes). If so, adding this invisible gauge to your panel should solve these problems. Easy to install, and fully documented. By Rob Barendregt
