Yeah, very confusing specially that the VASP 707 hasn’t a brazilian registry.

Not all that confusing, or even surprising, at all really .... especially in the case of a temporary or short term lease .... which might not see a particular aircraft entered onto the civil registry of a particular operators country. Depends on the nature, and duration, of the lease and were the aircraft was actually based .... etc My records indicate the following .... - N796PA, BOEING AIRCRAFT COMPANY, first flight April 30th 1964. - Delivered to Pan AMERICAN WORLD AIRWAYS ("Clipper Mermaid", September 5th 1964. - Sold to AVIANCA COLOMBIA, HK-1949, April 26th 1976. - Sold to ATASCO, January 9th 1985. - Leased to MENDIAN TRUST (N865BX), operated by BURLINGTON AIR TRANSPORT/BAX GLOBAL, January 11th 1985. - Leased to BUFFALO AIRWAYS, January 1992 .... then bought from lease April 19th 1993. - Leased to RACE CARGO AIRLINES (HR-AMZ), July 26th 1993. - Leased to VASP CARGO, 1994. - Leased to MAS AIR (CX-BSB, February 1986 .... then re-registered P4-CCG (MAS AIR), September 1996 .... then re-registered CX-BSB (MAS AIR), November 1996. - Transferred to TRANS CONTINENTAL SUR (CX-BSB),October 1997. - Withdrawn from service,December 1999. - Scrapped at Carrasco (B707 spares recovery), Montevideo, December 1999. As a leased aircraft VASP never operated it for very long at all .... it seems .... hence it was never entered onto the Brazilian civil air register. Mark C AKL/NZ

Vasp also operated another 707, HR-AMX and never used its blue colors: www.airliners.net/photo/Untitled-VASP-Cargo/Boeing-707-321C/573532Vasp Cargo also had a short life. After that, they tried to make express delivery with VaspEx using DC-10-30F, 727 and 737-200 but when the parent company bankrupt it went down too. Sadly.

For us brazilians is a bit confusing as it´s not allowed to a brazilian airline to fly airplanes not registred in the country. Even more strange is that those planes flew domestic routes.

According to my records .... the biography for this other aircraft/ HR-AMX is as follows .... B707-321C, C/N # 18716, L/N # 365
- N792PA, BOEING AIRCRAFT COMPANY, first flight March 19th 1964 - Delivered to PAN AMERICAN WORLD AIRWAYS ("Clipper Good Hope"), March 27th 1964. - Sold to ALIA ROYAL JORDANIAN AIRLINES (JY-AED), March 28th 1975. - Leased to JORDANIAN WORLD AIRWAYS ("The City OF AL-KARANEEH"), June 6th 1975 .... until June 1979. - Sold to ARAB AIR CARGO (JY-CAB), May 1st 1983. - Re-registered 4YB-CAB (ARAB AIR CARGO), April 1st 1984. - Sold to DHX CORP/AIRXPORT (J6-SLR), November 1986. - Leased to SAINT LUCIA AIRWAYS, November 24th 1986. - Transferred to CARIBBEAN AIR TRANSPORT, January 4th 1987 .... and de-registered July 8th 2013. - Re-registered TF-AYE (AIRXPORT), July 1988. - Sold to AERO URUGUAY (CX-CPO), September 9th 1988. - Sold to TALSA (HI-596CA), June 1st 1991. - Re-registered 55651 (ATLANTIC AIRCRAFT LEASING), September 1st 1991. - Leased to VASP CARGO, August 22nd 1992. - Re-registered HR-AMX (VASP CARGO), January 1st 1993. - Re-registered N66651 (VASP CARGO), March 1st 1995. - Returned to ATLANTIC AIRCRAFT LEASING, March 20th 1995. - Scrapped at Manaus, Brasil, July 2001. Again .... it really depends upon "the nature of the lease", and "to whom/which country or state an aircraft is registered", and "where the aircraft is based operationally" etc. Similar things sometime happen with ships too .... where it's not uncommon for a vessels port of registry to be changed (as means of legally circumventing certain operational and crewing regulations). Your information "IS" correct though .... HR-AMX was indeed, and for a time, operated by VASP CARGO .... and with whom it's recorded as having supported 2 other registrations as demonstrated by my data (although the N66651 registration is likely to have been for ferrying purposes only). So .... something was going on and with waivers being obtained .... obviously .... or .... books being cooked .... maybe .... or .... a combination of both .... possibly Mark C AKL/NZ
