BAc 1-11-201AC from a short lived and very controversial operator in California. Pacific Express was supposed to start flying with 6 BAe 146-200s... but rather than wait for them they leased 7 ex British United BAc 1-11-201ACs from BAe and flew those in this greyscale paint scheme... They also had an "albino" pair they leased from USAir in 83... watch this space Pacific Express' order for 146s pushed PSA into buying the type, in fact getting 5 of the ones originally intended for PacEx (the 6th went to the RAF). PacEx never flew the 146, though did lease 2 Aloha 737-200s with help from Pan Am who they operated as Pan Am Express for when noise regs started impacting the 1-11s as they were not hushkitted ... PacEx was supposed to be operating the 146s by 1984 but they were delayed by financial issues... and by the end of 1984 they declared chapter 7 and shut down.

Very nice addition Peter.
Apart from main line operations with ALOHA, AMERICAN AIRLINES and BRANIFF INTERNATIONAL AIRWAYS .... US operated and registered ONE-ELEVENS's are something of "a rarity".

Mark C AKL/NZ I don't know i'd say that... Canadian registered ones were a rarity... Quebecair and dats all... But the US had a large enough number for a long enough time (The last 1-11 flying included)... about the only rarity in the US was the -500... i don't know of any? I mean between Florida Express/BN Mk2 I saw enough of them every winter in Florida... always knew when a 1-11 was taking off from MCO too, nothing else made that much racket! And if the -2400/2500 had gone anywhere there was some interest in the US (for 2500s options for 50x from Kiwi and 25x from Braniff 2 i think it was?)... but nooo RR had to basically help Fokker sandbag the Tay powered 1-11... (don't get me started on this i will go on a while)

"OH YES" .... I remember them very well at AKL/NZAA when FJ flew them from the mid 70's until the early 80's PHOTO: Mark R.CRANSTON AKL/NZIf one wasn't properly awake prior to them departing then one sure as hell was wide awake as/after they departed .... and apparently the HS121 TRIDENT (although I never saw/heard one) was even "WORSE" .... according for resident of former British colonial HKG. I saw a Trident twice as a youngun departing Glasgow... Just at the tail end of the Trident shuttle standby days... It was noisy but honestly I remember one elevens being about the same loudness but more screetchy... Either beats to pitiful attempts by the F28 though

One more... After lease to PacEx, one of the albinos, N1120J, was leased out immediately to Emerald Air of Atlantic City. Stayed only a few months. Emerald is better known for it's DC-9-14/15 fleet, operating in multiple paint schemes and subleased to many airlines. The BAC was a short term filler, can't find out why exactly but it was used on their planned charters (mostly to/from ACY) and not on special service like to a band or something like that as far as i can tell. Returned to USAir by 6/85... not sure exactly when only can confirm it in service with Emerald 11/84 and 12/84.
