NASA operated CV 990 s for various research chores like climatic change, aurora borealis and landing gear checks for the space shuttle. www.nasa.gov/centers/armstrong/history/where_are_they_now/CV-990_810.htmlThe CV 990 N810NA is surviving in a static display at Mojave Air and Space Port. The N711NA "Galileo" perished together with five of the crewmembers in a mid-air while landing at Moffet AFB. The third CV 990 N712NA "Galileo II" was destroyed after a rejected take off at Riverside-March AFB without any harm to its 19 souls on board thanks to their excellent evacuation training. HJG has N712NA and N810NA in its "hangar". As N810NA flew till 1995 I speculated over a semi-glass panel: Kind regards Walter
