Good day all
I decided to pick up two random cities from a random city generator and I got Monterrey and New York. I'll fly between those cities using timetables from 1969. Here's the itinerary:
MX701 1625 MTY - MEX 1730 B727
AM400 1030 MEX - JFK 1655 DC-8
Leg 1: Monterrey, Mexico (MTY) ---> Mexico City, Mexico (MEX); Mexicana Boeing 727-264 XA-TAA
Pax load for the flight is 118 and a cargo of 4.5 tonnes. Simbrief gives us a calculated fuel load of 12.25 tonnes. Estimated fuel on arrival will be 6.9 tonnes. Navigation will be using INS as the high-altitude airways in Mexico are RNAV based now.
XA-TAA at the gate in Monterrey.
Mexicana 701 climbing out.
Descending into Mexico City.
Nobody gave two hoots about noise in swingin' 1969.
On approach
Rollout and going to gate.
Fuel onboard at arrival was 7.0 tonnes. Nearly as much as planned.
Leg 2: Mexico City, Mexico (MEX) ---> New York- Kennedy, USA (JFK); Aeronaves de Mexico Douglas DC-8-51 XA-PIK
This flight was nearly full with a pax load of 131 kgs. We have about 32 tonnes of fuel at the gate. Navigation will be using INS till the US coast off New Orleans. From there, we'll be using radios to travel the high altitude airways. Expect fair weather all along and some good tailwinds all the way to New York. Fuel planning was done using AF/KLM Virtual Airlines ACARS.
XA-PIK at the gate
Big Ol' Smoky
Ready for departure
Climbing out over Mexico City
Cruise
Over the Gulf of Mexico
Descending into New York
Landed and taxiing to gate.
We arrived with about 11 tonnes of fuel which was about what we had expected before the flight. This flight was logged on Air France/ KLM Virtual Airlines ACARS server and the PIREP can be found here: www.afva.net/pirep.do?id=0x2c2dc
As usually I found the Douglas plane to be the better one to fly by hand.
Both of the flights were performed on VATSIM and ATC wasn't available for both the flights.
Thank you
Cyriac
