Good day folks. We all are quite familiar with HJG's line of aircraft packages, the variety of the repaints, panels, sounds and models. HJG products are in a class of their own. There are also other aircraft packages out there, both freeware and payware, which are of varying quality. What in your opinion are the best vintage aircraft you've flown, apart from the HJG products?
Mine would be the Ready For Pushback 747-200, Tinmouse 737-200 & the SGA A300B4-200 w/ Benoit Gaurant panel.
Ready For Pushback Boeing 747-200
This complete package for the Boeing 747-200 was originally designed for FS2002 by Ralph Tofflemire. It was a payware but Tofflemire eventually got tired by retailers selling his product without paying a pence, so he made it available for free to download. The RFP was also available for FS2004 which is the version I was using. RFP came with Pax, Cargo and Combi models. There was a payload adjuster and a fuel calculator. Complete with a fully functional Flight Engineer panel and a separate fuelling panel, the RFP 747-200 reminds me of the HJG DC-10 package somewhat. The package came with only a PW JT9D version. I remember the RFP was quite heavy to fly like how it really was. I used to fly some typical 747 routes like LAX-ICN, AMS-JFK etc. Once I upgraded to FSX I relly miss the RFP 747 as it's not compatible with FSX. The package also came with a manual with 100s of pages.
Oh and this came with a VC as well. The FE , fuelling, pressurization system was fully simulated.
Tinmouse Boeing 737-200
The Tinmouse Boeing 737-200 package for FS9 and FSX was designed by Richard Probst. Tinmouse is an apt name for the little Boeing plane which would be a game-changer for Boeing. The panel came with a working Thrust Rating Computer, a primitive FMC, working overhead panel and associated bells and whistles. This was a pleasure to handfly. Tinmouse 737 and its updates are still available at avsim.com. It's been a long time since I have flown with it. Typical routes I used to fly it were ATL-JFK, CDG-LHR etc.
Fully operational overhead panel with pressurization
Thrust Rating Computer/ FMC
SGA A300 with Benoit Gaurant panel
Another heavyweight aircraft which had a fully functional panel designed by HJG's own Benoit Gaurant. The package was available for FS9 with a working Litton 92 INS, overhead panel, FE panel and a thrust computer. The dynamics felt real or as much as I think how it should be. The package had GE CF6 sounds for the A300. I used to fly them on European routes out of CDG.
