Greetings all,
New here. Jehan from Kentucky in the US.
I'm trying to determine the function/purpose of the small rectangular grille on the vertical stabilizer of the VC10 located close to the base towards the front : see image below with area in question circled.
Would be grateful for any information on this.
Thanks.
Jehan
p.s. Mods: please let me know if this post is in the wrong forum. Thanks.

As far as I can identify, per the following-linked cutaway, it's likely got something to do with the air/air-conditioning/circulation ventilation system .... VC10 CUTAWAY BY FLIGHT INTERNATIONALThere's a lot of "air" related equipment located within the tail structure and within the vicinity of/behind that vent/grill. I've asked someone else (with hopefully greater familiarity and better technical references that I have at my disposal) to have look and report .... "if they can". "No promises" as to their success though. Question's probably better posted over on the CLASSIC BRITISH FLIGHT SIM forum .... maybe .... cbfsim.co.uk/CBFS_HOME.php MarK C AKL/NZ

Greetings Mark,
Thank you very much for the response and posting the detailed cut-away diagram. I wondered as well if it might have something to do with either the air system. Thanks for referring the matter to some other experts! I will report back here as well as I learn more. Best, Jehan

No problem If you "right click" on that cutaway image, then select "SAVE IMAGE", you should be able to further enlarge that reference by around 40% more (before it starts to degrade) than can be displayed on this forum Mark C AKL/NZ

Hi Jehan. Unfortunately, due to moving something later this year, all my VC-10 books are packed away. But, I would surmise, seeing that the vent is directly behind the intercooler, that it is for the excess heat to be vented from it. The cutaway that Mark posted does show how its put together. www.vc10.net/index.htmlThe above site does have some good info on the VC-10, but unfortunately nothing on this. I hope this helps a bit. Best regards. Paul

Thank you Paul. I noticed the duct work around that vent in the cut-=away diagram. I also downloaded and enlarged it and got a better idea of the connections. Thank you to you and Mark for indulging me!
Best,
Jehan
