Hi friends: Seems the 1981 repaint has a missing paint at engine 2: Kind regards Walter P.S.: I have a great respect for the work of creating repaints! Thanks Peter for your wonderful work.

Everything's "PERFECTLY NORMAL" there Walter .... that's how it's supposed to appear "N8153G" featured the natural metal EAL finish .... but had a painted grey intake sleeve on the #2/tail engine and which is what's represented per that patch. Again .... no problem/s .... all's good Mark C AKL/NZ

Hi friends: Sorry did not know this detail! The older paint is very nice, but never got, why they called the 727 a "WHISPERJET" LOL! Kind regards Walter

The term "WHISPERJET" was a marketing line introduced by EAL during the early/mid 1960's to promote their B727-100's (most of which were JT8D-7 powered) and which were definitely quieter than anything else jet-powered that the airline operated "at the time" .... both of the referenced "EARLY/MID 1960'S" and "AT THE TIME" being key statements in this particular case.
It was much later during the 1980's (and perhaps more appropriately too) that coined "WHISPERLINER" marketed ARJ/BAe 146 series jetliner phraseology .... which were definitely quieter than almost everything else in service at this time .... was adopted.
Peter might be able to add more .... "if he cares to".

Hi Mark:
Yes that was the time people in the USA put a sticker on their cars "JETBLAST THE SOUND OF FREEDOM"!
Kind regards LOL!
