For the past 2 months of my time here in HJG, I have thought around an idea, what if we had a 2nd HJG server? Well, since I know that most of the you are probably grown men, you probably only heard it when some dude got arrested for leaking government documents. But I guess I can give a little insight on what "Discord" is. So Discord is like a messaging app. You can chat, talk, be in server's that you like! There are also Aviation Servers that are all about flight simming and stuff! Plus, it's more workable as it has some convenient features for you to get around with as you continue to get invested. Here is the average happenings in one Discord server I am in. Each of those groups on the left are called "Channels" There maybe some obscene things that could happen in your chat, but that's apart of the Freedom of Speech! (Unless if you added rules, of course.) Now, the last thing I want to point out, are thread channels. Because this is a Proboards, and it's filled with threads, you can make a huge category of like, 20 threads to try and have some similarity and feel more easier using the server. Plus you can make channels to drop new textures! Well because I am lazy at the moment, I will just drop a link for you support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045138571-Beginner-s-Guide-to-Discord

I use Discord quite a bit with different aircraft support channels for X-Plane 11/12. The big problem I find is that people’s requests for help get buried by two or three knuckleheads chatting about nothing to do with the thread they have posted in or you get people chatting over the top of you when you are trying to help someone. They only then stop when a moderator gets on and tells them to. The other big problem is when you do help someone with a problem, you have someone a couple of days later with the same problem who hasn’t looked back through the thread or hasn’t typed in search. So you help them. Then someone else asks about the same problem, followed immediately by someone who has just got on to report the same problem, but couldn’t be bothered checking that the person just before them asked the same question and had it answered (have a look at the Felis 747 channel 😳). Having it in a forum format means that people can see that the other problem is there and then add that it’s effecting them too or see what the fix is immediately without having to post.
I understand what you’re saying and it can be a great tool, but I have a feeling it probably won’t work here. Although, if it wasn’t for support, but for people to upload pics, videos or hanger chat about their flights 🤔
Just my two cents 😉

I've never used it .... and nor do I ever intend to. What we have is basically easy and convenient for everyone to access/use and for us administrate/control. HJG won't be implementing changes to any of its current proven and well working arrangements or format .... fin de la historia MRC

Familiar with Discord. Some of us grown men do a lot more than just flightsim. Been around It since THE BEGINNING. It's got a rep for a reason, but like most things not necessarily deserved. While it is not a bad idea, Im with Mark on this one.

Gonna close/lock this thread now. I've discussed this matter internally .... with one other previous ADMIN who's opinion apparently parallels mine and that already expressed above . Absolutely no point maintaining open discussion in regard to anything that's simply not going to happen .... and which was never a consideration anyway. We'll leave it at that now MRC
