Hey guys I was toolin' around last night and thought I would check out the alphasim site just for fun. They've recently added some of their payware birds in the freeware section (SR-71, C-130, B-24, etc.). They don't have panels or sounds with them (thats why they're free) but the fact is that the models are there. I downloaded C-130 packs 1&2 last night and with a good panel and sounds I've been toolin in the herky bird for six hours straight. It beats the payware if you don't mind doing internet searches for the perfect panel. Anyways, just thought it would be something the FS community could benifit from. Here's the setup I'm using with the Freeware Alpha C-130: Alphasim C-130 Packs 1&2 Alphasim C-130 Sound Pack Update (available on AVSIM) A generic C-130 Panel by Ken Mitchell (available on Simviation) The following repaints available on AVSIM: MC-130H, MC-130P, WC-130H, AC-130A "Azrael" and AC-130A "Maximum Carnage." Check it out! Jay

CS C-130 isn't that complex. Most of it is "Fake switches" The original asking price IMHO was a rip off, sure glad I didn't buy it then, feel sorry for those that did. The current $19.99 price is just about right.
I was a little scared in buying it, because I'm not a 100% total FS Geek. (nothing wrong with it if you have the time) Thought I'd be reading manuals from here to next week learning the aircraft. Totally not the case. If you are looking for something along the lines of PMDG, or Ready for Pushback, you will be greatly disappointed.
I was pleased with the purchase, one of my favorites. Not sure if still the case, I picked up the expansion packs (C-130T(rip-off unless you want the effects and visuals of the JATO, They do nothing for take-off performance, KC-130, AC-130) each for like $5.00

Oh I get it
I think they had a pretty big spat with Alphasim on their forums and at CBFsim therefore Phil may have withdrawn the models from being hosted.

Just been having another look on the Alpha forums, there have been dead links reported, but it looks as though they've ignored the posts.
I suppose the only way you would get your hands on it would be if someone sent you it via MSN or email.......which I assume would be acceptable as its freeware
