Very soon we will be releasing our new/upgraded CONVAIR package.
This will comprise of all the following ...
There will be 3 updated CONVAIR panels for CV880-22, CV880-22M, & CV990-A .... as peviewed below ....
CV880-22 PANEL
CV880-22M PANEL
CV990-A PANEL .... also used with our new "CV990 (EARLY)" aircraft
Some of these panels might look similar, but despite appearances, each differs in terms of engine instrument callibration .... to reflect (as best as FS will permit) the known power/performance ratings of the respective powerplants for each aircraft type.
There are also variations in types of engine instruments applied to some of these panels and in their positioning too. In all cases the new engine instrumentation is much clearer and EPR gauges in particular now have selectable EPR setting target bugs.
Working thrust reverser annunciation lights have also been incorporated into each panel .... along with dual ADF radios, as well as a working weather radar set similar that already applied to our B707/720 & DC8 panels
The original faulty Radar Altimeter has now been fixed. It no longer sticks when set to "TEST MODE" whilst on the ground, and holes in the original main panel have all been repaired too.
A different overhead panel has been applied to all 3 panel versions. This features both nuematic air pressure gauge and buttons for flight deck/ground commmunications (same as feature associated with our DC8's) used for engine startup sequences.
Brand new air cart/ground generator sounds by our highly talented Benoit PLAMONDON form part of the new CONVAIR panels GAUGES/CORE FILES supporting this upgraded package. Flight/Ground Crew voices remain unchanged though .... our virtual HJG flight/Ground crews are indeed multi-rated ;D
Seperate new FDE for both CV880-22, CV880-22M, CV990 (EARLY), & CV990-A will be provided .... which means new aircraft base packs will be uploaded for all CONVAIR aircraft.
There are differences between all FDE versions. Both CV880's will fly at up to MACH 0.88 and 0.89 (VNE) respectively .... with slight variations in indicated performance parameters such as EPR, RPM, EGT, and F/F values .... and we've also now managed to get the nose of these aircraft up slightly during the cruise too
Our CV990 FDE (and this is a huge advance) has been similarly revised and "tamed" for better/more realistic acceleration acceleration performance .... these aircraft won't now scoot-off like scalded cats . We appreciate our previous FDE was "GROSSY OVERPOWERED" , but, it is now no more overpowered than that of any our current B707/720's & DC8's whilst still being able to achieve very high MACH cruising speeds. In fact our CV990-A can now be flown at up to MACH 0.97 (VNE) ...."YES" the aircraft really was capable of that, and did do so too, after modifications during April 1961, but, only at the undesirable expence of much higher than originally anticipated fuel burn rates. To maintain both adequate safety margin and promote enconomic performance more sober cruising speeds of between MACH 0.91 and MACH 0.95 were most commonly flown by these aircraft during commercial operations and prior to the 1970's oil price shock.
We will also be introducing an "CV990 (EARLY)" version aircraft base pack too.
This will be supported by its own seperate FDE with speed limited to around MACH 0.90 (VNE) .... and you don't really wanna know about the fuel burn rate . This version will also be supported by 1 only 1962 AMERICAN AIRLINES texture (at this stage) and will also use our standard upgraded CV990-A panel. AA's first 15 CV990's were delivered unmodified from January 1962 then upgraded to CV990-A standard whilst in service, and at Convair's expense, prior to the end of 1964. Only the airlines last 5 aircraft were delivered as modified CV990-A's.
Our entire CONVAIR upgrade is the fruits of George CARTY's panel/gauge and FDE expertise .... not forgetting also Ben HARTMANN's commitment with regard to the updating/enhancing our AA CV990 textures.
We hope this upgrade will both please the "SPEED DEMONS" among us and help folk enjoy flying these virtual nostalgic/historic jetliners a little closer to reality
PLEASE .... don't go rushing off to "DOWNLOADS" expecting to find this new data now.
It hasn't yet been uploaded.
