Hello, I'm afraid I have to bother you all about this problem. I'm using your excellent Boeing 707-320c, however when I run through the start up procedure as usual, I go to engage external power but there is no power (light does not come on), the battery switch when on also seems to provide no power, and so I can't start the aircraft. I'm using a modified FLTSIM.FLT file to make the aircraft start 'cold' with everything switched off when the flight is started, could this be the cause? Suggestions would be great please. Thanks in advance.

My start up file is a "no power" default C-172. I then switch to the HJG B707 that I am going to fly and I do not have any trouble. You might try using the default C-172 first and see what happens. If all else fails load the C-172 first , turn the battery switch "ON" and then go to the HJG B707.

Ok thankyou for the help, although when on the ground and 'cold', there still seems to be a noise which sounds like it could be an ext genrator though.

So long as folk perform their pre-startup procedures correctly then there's no reason they should be denied electrical functions or for anything else to not work either.
I'd say you've likely skipped or failed to perform 1 or other of the following essential steps on the F/E panel during your pre-engine startup procedures ....
- Set the "ESSENTIAL POWER" switch to "EXT" position
- Set the "EXTERNAL POWER" switch to "ON"
- Ensure the "BATTERY" switch is set to "ON"
I therefore want you to go to the "ABOUT HJG AIRCRAFT" forum. On this page I want you to view the "B707 PANELS INSTALLATION & HANDLING NOTES" thread. In particular I then want you to studty carefully .... performing step by step .... the complete engine startup procedure as outlined within the engine startup tutorial contained within this thread. Again .... so long as each step of these procedures is correctly performed (precisely as prescribed) then there's no way in the world any problems should occur. These procedures have been well tested over a very long time.
These procedures do recommend the simulation be started with the CESSNA 172 .... or other MSFS default aircraft .... but .... this is not absolutely essential and engine startup procedures should work perfectly fine/normally regardless .... so long as the recommended procedures are correctly followed.
That's a perfectly normal and intentional feature of our Boeing, Convair, and Douglas panels when starting FS with these aircraft panels and in any engines off situation. We try to create the impression of an aircraft connected to a ground source of energy supply .... as one would would expect with an aircraft on the ground and between flights .... on turnaround.

Don't think I am trying to say there is something wrong with your aircraft, It must be the modified flightsim.flt file I'm using, as this has since cause trouble with other aircarft as well.

Hi,
External power only comes in when parking brakes are on.

Just what is this "modified flightsim.flt file" and why are you using it? I've never had to modify any of HJGs aircraft.

That is the default FS startup flight. Send it to me, and I'll tell you what is wrong with it. Meanwhile use the original which you of course have backed up
