Whilst we're waiting for our next website update to go "LIVE" here's an update concerning AFG's "PROJECT CARAVELLE" .... and HJG's association with it.
Most folk are aware AFG released the first installments late last year of their much anticipated CARAVELLE project .... featuring both CARAVELLE 3 & 6N aircraft models, and including several variations of superb panels, sounds, effects, and a selection of very high quality historic airline textures too.
Myself & Benoit PLAMONDON are proud to have produced the soundpack for AFG's "PROJECT CARAVELLE" .... and we're equally proud of the relationship that's since been cultivated between ourselves (HJG) and Esa KAIHLANEN, Haakon SOREIDE, and the AFG "PROJECT CARAVELLE TEAM" .... which now brings me to the following announcement ....
We're very appreciative of AFG's authorization for HJG to host their "PROJECT CARAVELLE" .... which will feature the new CARAVELLE 1/A, the existing CARAVELLE 3 & 6N, and also the new CARAVELLE 6R, along with updated versions (V2) of the original panels released for these aircraft, along with an additional new soundpacks too.
AFG CARAVELLE 3 & 6N packages were originally released as complete files .... each comprising of model, panel/gauges, sound, texture, effects, and FDE .... which made for some quite bulky packages which some folk, with slow dial-up internet connections (I certainly fall into this category myself), might have experienced difficulty accessing. Therefore HJG will be releasing AFG's CARAVELLE project as separate and individual components .... all organized according to the same/current HJG downloads and installation system which most folk have by now become well acquainted with .... as follows ....
- CARAVELLE Aircraft Base Packs .... For an initial total of 6X versions of CARAVELLE aircraft.
- CARAVELLE Panels.... 9X variations featuring both airline instrument standard and period differences.
-
CARAVELLE Sounds.... 2X variations of RR AVON turbojet sounds .... the original version without without reverse thrust .... and the new version with reverse WAV added.
- CARAVELLE Effects .... smoke effects files for all of these aircraft.
Here's a little about what's to come ....
CARAVELLE 1/1A ....
THIS IS A BRAND NEW EXTENSION TO THE AFG CARAVELLE PROJECT.... representing the original production CARAVELLE aircraft with its lower MGTOW (96,900 LBS), and less powerful RR AVON turbojet engines (10,400 LBS thrust each and not reverser equipped). Also .... these engines weren't equipped with noise suppressing engine exhaust tail pipes fitted to all of the later turbojet powered CARAVELLE versions.
Esa has just completed a brand new 3D model featuring this early production aircraft with its original engine configuration for . Here's the new CARAVELE 1/1A model ....
FinnairNote in particular the different engine exhaust tail pipe shape in comparison with the following CARAVELLE 3 & 6N imagery. We've also suitably downgraded the original CARAVELLE 3 FDE in order to try and promote reasonably accurate CARAVELLE 1/1A performance.
All CARAVELLE 1/1A aircraft produced were later upgraded to CARAVELLE 3 specifications early during their operational careers.
CARAVELLE 3 featured within the debut release of AFG's "PROJECT CARAVELLE" late last year. We've separated this aircraft type into 2 versions .... featuring both "EARLY" and "LATE" production aircraft principally defined by their certified MGTOW and engine thrust ratings .... as follows ....
CARAVELLE 3 (EARLY PRODUCTION)
2X RR AVON RA29 MK527 turbojet engines (no reverse) rated at 11,400 LBS thrust e/a
MGTOW = 101,400 LBSHere's the early production CARAVELLE 3 ....
FinnairCARAVELLE 3 (LATE PRODUCTION)
2X RR AVON RA29 MK527A turbojet engines (no reverse) rated at 11,400 LBS thrust e/a
MGTOW = 105,800 LBSHere's the late production CARAVELLE 3 ....
Scandinavian Airline SystemCompare the engine exhaust tail pipes on these aircraft with those of CARAVELLE 1/1A above and you should observed significant differences between these.
Subtle FDE/performance variations will exist between both "EARLY" and "LATE" aircraft versions.
A number of CARAVELLE 3 aircraft were upgraded to CARAVELLE 6N specifications later during their service careers.
CARAVELLE 6N also featured within the debut release of AFG's "PROJECT CVARAVELLE" late last year. Again we've separated this aircraft type into 2 versions too .... both "EARLY" and "LATE" production aircraft and once again principally defined by their certified MGTOW and engine thrust ratings ....as follows ....
CARAVELLE 6N (EARLY PRODUCTION)
2X RR AVON RA29 MK531 turbojet engines (no reverse) rated at 12,200 LBS thrust e/a
MGTOW = 105,800 LBSHere's the early production CARAVELLE 6N ....
AlitaliaCARAVELLE 6N (LATE PRODUCTION)
2X RR AVON RA29 MK531 turbojet engines (no reverse) rated at 12,200 LBS thrust e/a
MGTOW = 110,230 LBSHere's the lateproduction CARAVELLE 6N ....
Corse AirCARAVELLE 6N was the last of the type not fitted with engine thrust reversers .... these aircraft, and earlier production models, relied on deployment of a drag-chute to assist their initial descelation effort and before applying braking was applied.
All of the above CARAVELLE 1/1A, 3 & 6N aircraft versions will be represented by the following selection of airline and period specific panels ....
Panel (AF) Air France configuration .... at Guatemala City ....Panel (FI) Finnair configuration .... final approach into Guatemala City, La Aurora International Airport, Guatemala ....Panel (FR) French Air Force configuration .... final approach into St.Maartin, Princess Juliana International Airport, Netherlands Antilles, Caribbean ....Panel (IT) Air Inter configuration .... at FL310 cruise north of Bogota, Colombia ....Panel (SA) SAS configuration .... at FL310 cruise north of Medellin, Colombia .... just to the west of el Rio Magdalena ....Panel (TS) Tunisair configuration .... at Pereira, ColombiaPanel (6N) - standard CARAVELLE 6N configuration .... at Medellin, ColombiaEach of the above panels feature Benoit GAURANTE's recent V2 upgrades (improving some details and fixing a number of previous bugs) and are accompanied by the following superb suite of PAX cabin/wing views ....
Departure from Pereira, Colombia .... climbing toward the north and through a pass between ridges of the mighty Cordillera de los Andes ....

The 1st model will represent this aircraft without an upper fuselage HF antennae .... a la version operated by UNITED AIRLINES.
And the 2nd model will represent this aircraft with an upper fuselage HF antennae .... defined by a long raised dorsal fin extending from the leading edge root of the tail to
approximately half way along the aircrafts upper fuselage.
Again .... here's examples of each ....
CARAVELLE 6R (WITHOUT HF ANTENNAE)

CARAVELLE 6R will also be accompanied by the following type specific panels .... brand new masterpieces by Benoit GUARANT ....
