In the "Read Me" of the 727-100 late panel, step 2 of the installation reads "You will find this folder in your FS9 Aircraft or FSX SIMOBJECTS\AIRPLANES folder, (If this folder does not exist, you should create it)", doesn't this folder go into the root folder of FS9 or FSX, instead of the aircraft folder of FS9 or FSX ?

Personally I do not use this folder in FSX, but refer to my installations descriptions for FSX, and woul find a notice of where you should place it in FSX (it's a default folder in FS9 as far as I remember)

Reason I'm asking is I can't get the 721 late to show up in FSX, I follow the Instructions provided with each download you need (Base Pack, Panel, Core Files, Repaint) to the letter but cannot get the 721 late to show up, I even tried your way Dan but this way seems easier to follow for me.

Hmmm, everything I read about the FSFSCONV does say it goes into the Simobjects\Airplanes folder in FSX, so I'm stumped.

Even though you have the correct files downloaded, you haven't apparently installed them correctly ....
Read again upon changing the panel.cfg to have the correct alias and also where to create the FSFSCONV folder and install the panel files .... (about halfway through the guide...

"JYMP" .... as my colleague (Dan) correctly explains .... so long as the prescribed instructions (either those downloaded with the product, or, those additional details meticulously compiled by Dan himself) are followed "TO THE LETTER", then there's no logical reason for these aircraft not to display within FSX.
I do ask that you check is as follows ....
There are 2 AIRCRAFT.CFG files within each B727 Aircraft Base Pack.
The default file .... named AIRCRAFT.CFG .... is for FS2004 only.
The 2nd file .... named AIRCRAFT_FSX.CFG .... is the one you should be using for FSX, but, which must first be renamed AIRCRAFT.CFG.
The same also applies in respect of each B727 Panel file too.
There are 2 PANEL.CFG files provided within each panel file.
The default version .... named PANEL.CFG .... is for FS2004 only.
The 2nd file .... named PANEL_FSX.CFG .... is the one you should be using within FSX, but, which must also first be renamed AIRCRAFT.CFG.
I want to be sure that you've not, however innocently, overlooked these important basic details !

Yep Mark, did excatly as you say, will try once again this evening, but does FSFSCONV indeed go into the "Simobjects\Airplanes folder within FSX, or would it go into the actual 721-100 folder within FSX ?

Well .... normally .... it would go inside the "AIRCRAFT" folder of FS .... but .... that's in FS2004.
I don't want to mislead you here (because I'm not FSX .... and I've only intended to offer "very basic" cross-checking advice sdo far), so please, follow Dan's instructions .... to the letter !!!! .... after all he is our only resident/staff member FSX expert !!!!

IF you are using Vista this may be a renaming problem. By default Vista does not show extensions for known file types.
For example, under XP if you look at a configuration file you would see panel.cfg. Under Vista you would only see panel and no extension. Thus some folks, when following the instructions, actually rename the files panel.cfg.cfg and so on.
To get around this you can go, within windows explorer, to Tools/folder options/view and uncheck hide extenisons for known file types.
Hope this helps a bit.

Hmmm, everything I read about the FSFSCONV does say it goes into the Simobjects\Airplanes folder in FSX, so I'm stumped. So if everything you read says so, why then are you stumped..? Just do as it says ;-) tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=questionsonfsxandhjg&action=display&thread=1662Item 9.: 9. The Panel: Create a folder called FSFSCONV as a sub-folder under Airplanes: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\FSFSCONV
