Hello,
Have searched for this topic but can find no trace/solution..
I have d/loaded the B707-320B-(Advanced) Base+Core Files+Panel by George Carty but the Gauge needles/pointers/'moving bits' are missing as are the default GPS, Radio, Map, Kneeboard etc features that sit on the panel. The Central Compass & clock are also missing.
Underneath this panel is an Introductory sub-panel which we're encouraged to read more about but my cursor is unable to respond on either this sub panel or the cockpit one...
I've rebooted also. (FS 2004)
cheers Nick

I've never heard of such a scenario .... that I can recall ! You did download all your files from "HERE/HJG" .... didn't you ? So long as you've got all the right bits installed in all the right places .... then there's absolutely no logical reason why you should be experiencing what you say you're experiencing I have to assume .... you've installed everything precisely according to the accompanying file installation instructions .... which is important .... and haven't taken any personal detours during these processes ! The B707/720 panels are all individual downloads .... as are the aircraft base pack files for each type too. The PANELS should be installed inside your FS2004 FSFSCONV folder. The PANEL GAUGES/CORE FILES package is a separate file .... containing 3 GAUGE files and all the panel gauge SOUND files. All the contents of the gauges folder (3 gauge files only) should be installed inside your FS "GAUGES" folder. All of the contents of the panel Sounds folder (quite a selection of WAV files) should be installed inside your FS "SOUND" folder .... not the Sound folder supplied with your B707/720 aircraft base pack. Please check that you've done this .... and that all of these relevent files are all present within the intended FS folders. Again .... if all that's done correctly .... according to the installation instructions .... then there's absolutely no logical reason (that I can think of at least) why such as you're experiencing should occur. Also .... our panels (with the exception of those for the BAe 146/ARJ, and CARAVELLE .... both of which we "host" only .... we didn't make these) aren't equipped with GPS, or moving map displays. Where possible/practical .... we model for period accuracy in respect of all our aircraft types and panels .... which often means good old fashioned, right back to basics, end user works it out (often witrh the aid of paper charts) aerial navigation. It's a lot more fun .... trust me ! Mark C AKL/NZ

Hi Mark,
I've been checking through the points you made along with the installation notes but I can't find any discrepancy..yet!
I've made an 'HJG temp' download folder where I unzip the files eg; (HJG707-320_Gauges_Extracted) before c+ping them into the relevant FS folder. I've printed out the installation notes and ticked off each stage as I did it; they're written simply enough for even me to follow!!! I've d/loaded the 707 Manual folder too (1965 in my case). Is there any thing I might have to do in the Properties (R click) of any of the folders/files such as 'Unblock'?
What gets me is, if the panel and gauges show up then the needles/'flickers' should do as well; they're in the same folder. The Panel Bitmap image does NOT show the needles, but the Panel jpg image in the Manual DOES, along with all the other buttons.
In the 'Panel B707-320B' .cfg file, I see lines similar to this:
gauge29=707-320!clock, 892,678,80, ,2
Does the (!) mean anything..?

That's all standard PANEL.CFG stuff Nick .... basically all that stuff repreprsents the specific gauge name, LAT/LONG co-ordinates, size, and gauge type (in some cases) data for each individual gauge and in each panel. You do not need to mess with the PANEL.CFG.
The only CFG files you should be messing with at all is the AIRCRAFT.CFG when you add your ADD TO AIRCRAFT/FLTSIM.XX/texture data to that CFG file .... and .... the PANEL.CFG when you alias your B707 panel and as explained within the panel installation instructions.
As I understand your problem .... you've got the panel/s displaing OK right !
"IF SO" .... then this suggests your aliasing has been "CORRECTLY applied .... but .... again if I unhderstand you correctly .... you say you panel is displaying without any gauges (gauge needles in the case of the engine instruments). Here I hasten to add that the engine gauge details are actually painted onto each engine gauge position (for these panels) with their needles/pointers then being the actual gauge function.
"IF" your gauge needles/pointers .... and other guages generally .... are not displaying in the panel/s (if this is the root of your problem) then this will affect "EVERYTHING" gauge related and not just the engine gauges alone.
"IF" this is the case .... THEN .... that indicates, to me at least, that each of your 3 individual B707 gauges which are named as follows ....
707-120.gau 707-320.GAU 707-LATE.GAU
.... have simply not been placed inside the correct FS folder !
These 3 gauges should each be placed .... individually .... inside the FS "GAUGES" folder and losely among all the other many gauges in this folder.
You can alternatively .... if preferred .... also place each of these 3 gauges inside your B707 Panel folder to sit loosely among all the other supporting panel BMP files and the PANEL.CFG file. This also will work.
Once again .... make sure that each of these 3 gauges are installed inside the FS "GAUGES" folder .... and that you have not, erroneously, still got these contained within their containing folder from the ZIP file and installed like this inside your FS GAUGES folder. This latter assumption would prevent these gauges from being displayed inside the panel.
On a final note .... similarly make sure that you also have all 46 individual Panel WAV/Sound files similarly installed inside the FS "SOUND" folder .... and that these too are not, erroneously, still contained within their containing fiolder from the downloaded ZIP folder.
Beyond this I can't imagine what the problem may be !

Hi Mark, Teus am...WhooHoo! We got gauge needles and 'movin bits' Dunno what really happened to make it work but I did as you recommended and placed each of the 3 Gauge files in the Panel folder, but on rebooting the PC/FS still nothing reacted ( last night). Then just this morning, on firing up, the cockpit panel just came to life as if to say ' What's all the fuss about?' I think I placed the Gauge files, Unzipped, into the FS gauge folder within their containing folder. I DIDN'T originally OPEN that folder & plonk them INDIVIDUALLY (3) into it... So many thanks for your advice. I'm building up/printing out a file on the UGT 707 and I'll definitely print out these notes for later reference. So mark this thread as a 'Problem Solved' and hopefully it'll help someone else... with much thanks Nick

Glad to help you out Nick .... and even more glad to know you can now start to enjoy these aircraft properly within FS too Be sure to familiarise yourself with the downloadable manual .... and .... Harerton DOURADO's downloadable fuel tutorial is also highly recommended too. Additionally .... please take time to familiarise yourself with my own B707 PANEL INSTALLATION & HANDLING NOTES .... which are located on the ABOUT HJG AIRCRAFT page and contain a lot of other basic informmation intended to assist folk better flying enjoying our B707/720/C135 aircraft. You're "DEAD RIGHT" there .... and that's what these forums are all about ! Mark C AKL/NZ
