First of all, I'd like to thank all you folks at HJG for the superb aircraft models you have here. The performance of the CV-990A is rather addictive; drove the airspeed indicator on that thing all the way to the barber pole.
I just downloaded the MEA repaint (OD-AFF) for the CV-990A and of course, the base pack, sounds, panel, and the effects files for the aircraft. However, as I applied take-off power, the engines were squeaky clean and didn't cough out a single molecule of smoke. Is there anything in the cfg file I have to change?
Thank you very much.

Where have you installed your CONVAIR aircraft Smoke effects file ?
It should be installed inside the "EFFECTS" folder of FS !
The smoke effects for all our aircraft work automatically on the basis of throttle setting.

Alright...reinstalled the whole thing and the engines now cough out smoke. I was sure I has the smoke files stored inside the Effects folder. Although I realized that I wasn't applying the recommended take-off thrust (only took off with about 1.7 EPR I think) on my previous flights. I tried pushing the throttle a little bit more and I got the engines to cough out smoke.

Really!?! On my system (FS9) the smoke only works when I toggle the "I" key (default smoke system command) and the smoke will appear wheather the engines are on or off...

The automatic smoke requires that the corresponding HJG panels are installed.

George is "CCORRECT" ! That's what I forgot to add .... "SORRY" In other words .... if you don't have HJG panels installed then you won't have any automatic smoke effects at all. This's because of the gauges/smoke effects relationship associated with these panel files. If you don't use HJG panels .... then you will have to resort to the keyboard "I" command to both start and stop your smoke effects. Mark C AKL/NZ
