Am doing some long flights in the -120, and the trim sound is too loud. How can I eliminate the sound (the trim wheel warning) thanks, lr.

If you look in folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Sound, you'll find a file named HJG_B707_trim.wav . If you rename it to something like HJG_B707_trim.bak, then I'm pretty sure you won't hear it any more.
Regards,
Jim

I can't hear this volume on your system .... of course .... BUT .... in my own installtion I don't consider it excessive. Out of curiosity .... how have you set your "flight deck" slider within the FS SOUNDS option. "YES" .... that would nail it forever Jim ;D .... BUT .... I truly hope he won't go to that extreme It would be rather a pitty ! Mark C AKL/NZ

He could probably even lower its volume using the very basic built-in WINDOWS sound editor too .... if he wished Certainly no reason to rename, or even delete, that particular WAV .... and I truly hope he doesn't do either of these. Mark C AKL/NZ

I definitely appreciate all the responses. Let me explain the problem here and what I will try. Am running FS9 with: FDC, Radar Coontact v3xx, Active Sky (for wx reports), and have sounds with the ai traffic (start-up, taxi, and touchdown- for each specific a/c) from calclassics. So trying to coordinate all these sound levels has been difficult and time consuming. The sound from the trim is so loud it hammers in your ears. I'm in a seperate room (homebuilt cockpit shell) and if there are people in the front room, about 10 yards, there are bothered by the trim sound. I realise that this is system specific. So for now I've renamed the wav file and downloaded Audacity. I'll install it and try it later today or tomorrow. In the meantime- Thanks. lr.

"YES" .... I agree .... it is extremely unusual .... because in so far as our own audio programming is concerned the raw volume of the WAV we supply is about what it should be .... and is of nothing even nearing that proportion of volume which you indicate.
I'd say something on your system has, most certainly, gotten "cocked-up" .... in terms of how its maybe interpreting the volume of such WAV data .... and .... is maybe even influencing/enhancing it further.
SORRY .... I can't offer any further helpful advice regarding this !
