First off I LOVE this plane! I've been waiting for a good L-1011 to come along and HJG has done a fabulous job on this.
One problem I'm having is I installed the sound pack and there is a very loud whine after the engines are shutdown. And I can't pin down what it is that making that noise. I thought it was the APU exhaust or something but after trying to pull those files, it didn't go away. I first installed the aircraft with a 3rd party engine sound and decided to give the HJG sound a try. I don't know if it's just something I'm missing or what. I followed the instructions completely for installing into FSX. The other problem I'm having is that the engines won't start with CTRL-E. They start to spool up, but at 18% they drop off line. I have to hit CTRL-E 3 times for it to get started. And again this is only with the HJG sound pack installed. It worked fine with a previous sound set I was using.
Anyone else having such problems?

Try a re-install, and then use HJG sound's first time, and see if this might solve your problem ... There wasn't some panel.cfg changes involved with the other sound pack was there? We can obviously only try to solve peoples problems if they are HJG-related, and this may not be, as we haven't heard of any others having the same problem ...(provided that they use our sound-package from the start) ... which by the way is highly recommended, as I don't think you'll find any soundpackage so minutely integrated with our model as Aeromusica's

"NO" ....
What he's hearing there is "very likely" the intended sound of avionics (etc) and which we compiled into the sounpack (as is similarly featured within all AEROMUSICA/HJG aircraft soundpacks too) .... and which is precisely what should be heard on the flightdeck of any/most aircraft (in variation of course), whenever the engines are shut down and the aircraft is then running off it's own APU .... or .... is connected to a GPU source of energy supply to run its systems.
The audio/WAV provided was recorded aboard an ANA L1011 by the great Ryuji OZAWA .... and is actually "quite authentic".
Again .... what he's likely hearing/commenting regarding is how our L1011 RR RB211 audio is intended to sound.
If he doesn't like it/want it .... then he could try reducing the FS sound slider volume for either "ENGINES" or "FLIGHTDECK" .... or .... just remove completly the WAV sample named ....
L1011_avionics
Personally .... I feel the latter action (removing that WAV) would be quite unfortunate .... because one would then only be denying oneself a fairly large/important slice of reality.

Regarding a noisy cockpit: in reality many are extremely noisy! However, flight deck crew generally wear headsets in order to communicate over the intercom system. The headset acts as a noise attenuation system for the ambient cacophony! To simulate this in flight sim I search out the noisy files (like the inverters, etc.) and disable them. That's more practical than wearing a headset while operating flight sim! Especially since my wife is not hooked into any intercom system. This arrangement keeps me out of trouble! :-) Roy Marsh

That's an end user choice .... I/we respect .... BUT PERSONALLY .... I wouldn't recommend doing that ! In disabling files (i.e deleting/removing WAV samples) then all one's essentially going to end up doing is denying ones self of a large sense of audio ambiance/reality/authenticity. In respect of each of the soundpacks offered "HERE" .... at HJG .... we/AEROMUSICA (Benoit PLAMONDON and myself) place enormous emphasis on audio accuracy/authenticity (where we can acquire actual recordings) .... which means adding all of the appropriate avionics, mechanical, and environmental sounds to each of the aircraft/engine soundpacks we represent .... just so that one hears everything that should heard over-and-above the often unique tones of any particular simulated aircraft engine type .... bearing in mind certain FS limitations of coursde .... and all based upon our own many years of experience jump-seat riding aboard many different airliner types. AGAIN .... we/AEROMUSICA respect that such actions are "end user choice" .... but remember .... aircraft flightdecks, whilst these may be a little quieter than cabin environments, in audio terms they're most not sterile. The systems which run all of that instrumentation on any flightdeck does make a noise and is what we've tried to replicate within each of our soundpacks we've produced to date. Mark C AKL/NZ

Do you think flowers might help Ken ? Or maybe a bottle of wine .... or both ? Alternatively .... a almost "limitless/bottomless credit card" has been known to result in "GREAT" if not unprecedented liberties too ;D Mark C AKL/NZ
