Hey I've downloaded the L1011-1 base pack and even after the usual "dumbing down" and aliasing work I'm unable to get the aircraft to appear in my FS2002 list. Is the aircraft intended for use in FS2002? Or is this yet another signal that its time to upgrade...

"NO" .... the L1011 may appear/display in FS2002, but, its FDE is not intended for FS2002 use and will likely result in unrealistic performance .... unlike is the case when it is used with FS2004.
The panel/s may not work in FS2002 either.
This applies to all of the aircraft and panels we offer here !
I would recommend you upgrade to FS2004 ACOF .... at the very least !

Honestly .... you´d be doing yourself "A HUGE FAVOUR" .... to drop FS2002 in favour of FS2004 .... and .... you should also be able to do that extremly cheaply now too ! Better scenery .... "BETTER EVERYTHING" than in FS2002 .... trust me ! Mark C BOG/COL

Thanks for the advice. I'm probably going to give out and ugrade to FSX or FS2004 in the very near future. The old FS2K2 just cant keep up with the add on market.

Well, I held out with FS95 for an awful long time -- I did a load of panels for that sim, including the 707 panel below: One of my last FS95 panel projects was a mod of the KT Project 767 panel, adding digital radio altimeter, autothrottle and autoland capability. Not bad, given that the lack of an FS95 SDK had me programming in raw Intel machine code rather than C! Oh, and I hacked the panels.dll to get the rounded numbers. My next sim was FS2000, the sim under which I started to develop my Boeing 707/720 panel series -- shows how much work went into them. George

You do a "nice job" George .... even way back then in the now, what by comparison seems to be, primitive FS5 and FS2000 days.

primitive FS5 and FS2000 days. FS95 -- it was my first Microsoft flight simulator. Never used FS5. George

Great panels George; especially for those versions of FS! Got you beat in another respect: my first sim was the orginal Bruce Artwick, Sublogic FS. My wife continues to regret the day I brought that and a new 386 computer home. ;D Yeah, I'm that old. Mike

. SORRY .... you mean FSFW95 (Flight Simulator For Windows 95) .... I GOT IT NOW" ;D I remember there was only a very short duration between the launch of that version of FS and FS98 .... which was then regarded as the first of the serious FS versions by M$ for which all manner of add-on aircraft and sceneries (etc) began to materialize. I "MIGHT" have you all beat .... YET .... because I started out in FS way back around 1992 .... with a program for the old AMIGA brand computer and which was entitled "A320 AIRBUS" by Thalion Software. I "flew the crap out of that thing" .... and even went through 2 AMIGA computers in the process too. That particular A320 program taught me to how navigate .... and today I still use the extensive collection of both realworld RE NAV charts and airport/RWY approach charts which acompanied it. "For me" .... that, what is now such a basic/primitive simulator program in comparison to what we enjoy today, was more than worth the investment. I wouldn´t be "HERE" today (in this group or on this forum) had it not first been for that old "A320 AIRBUS" program by Thalion Software. Any investment in FS2004 ACOF is more than worth its weight in gold .... so far as I´m concerned at least ! Mark C BOG/CO

I started out with FS95 and thought that it was the greatest sim ever with the most amazing level of detail. I got alot of use out of that baby until I bought CFS1, then CFS2, which proceeded to occupy and continue to occupy far too much of my free time.

Agreed.
I can see retrofitting a computer in the future, so that FS2004 is not an old program. And I can install it where ever I wish to.
I tried installing it on drive (C;) but nothing worked correctly, couldn't update to FS9.1. (oh yeah, I'm running Windows 7)
I directed it correctly but it always refused to install, it said FS9 is not on that drive.
Weird, huh?
That also makes me wonder how NEW my new copy is. I have read that newer copies have the update installed, this one didn't.
But it came wrapped in manufacturer wrapping, so I know it isn't used.
