Hi all...
I've been flying the superb DC9's. For some reason I cannot get the DME 2 gauge to show the distance. It's like it has a thin black line across the distance numbers and they don't seem to register the NAV 2 distance. I put the NAV 2 frequency into the NAV1 unit to make sure it isn't a NAV aid issue but the DME 1 reading came up fine.
Any ideas what might be going on ?
Thanks..JB

I've just checked this out .... and there doesn't appear to be any problems with either NAV1/NAV2 or DME1/DME2. I believe I know what your trouble may be though .... I'd say you've probaby selected your NAV2 frequency in the extreme right window of the 2 NAV2 frequency boxes .... but then .... you've likely failed to activate that selected frequency by using the transfer switch (located between the 2 boxes) in order to import your selected NAV2 frequency from the right NAV2 box over to the left NAV2 frequency box. If you fail to do this then DME2 will exihibit "precisely what you've described" .... no reading at all. A green lamp above each of the 2 NAV1/NAV2 frequency windows will illuminate to confirm which of these 2 frequency boxes is actually in use. Use the right boxes to select NAV1/NAV2 frequencies .... then use the transfer switches to import these selections over to the left boxes .... which will, again, be confirmed by illumination of a green lamp over the actual box/window then "in use" .... and DME1/DME2 will also then have "no problems whatsoever" displaying your distances to run. I think this sort it all out for you Mark C AKL/NZ

Although I don't have a problem with the DME of the DC-9 panels, I HAVE a problem with the ADF 1/2: I can change the frequency of the ADF2, but the frequency of the ADF1 always stays at 100.0. What must I do in order to change the frequencies of both ADFs, so that they show me the way to my destination?
I know how to install the base packs, liveries, sounds, panels, etc. (I have the 707s, DC-8s and TriStars from here). You guys are doing a great job providing freeware classic jetliners for the FS-community. Well done HJG-Team!!!

I've just rechecked "THIS" too ! Both the ADF1 and ADF2 frequencies in these panels work fine .... as do both VOR1 and VOR2 as well. Both ADF frequency windows, and their associated tuning knobs, are located on the WX/Weather Radar sub panel. Each knob has 3 individual silent/hot points located ariound the left, center and right side of their rims. Clicking just outside the left and right rims on these knobs changes the first digit of any ADF frequency .... which is then cycled in whole number units of 10. Clicking just inside the left and rims on these knobs changes the second digit of any ADF frequency .... which is also then cycled in whole number units of 10. Clicking about the center of these knobs changes the last digit "S" of any ADF frequency .... which are then cycles in individual units of "1" (onlly). To get an ADF bearing the Rabbits Ear switches on the RMI must be selected to their "ADF" postions .... ADF1 is read per the left Rabbit Ear switch .... and ADF2 is read using right Rabbit ear switch. There is "NO PROBLEM", at all, with either ADF1 or ADF2 bearings .... so long as their respective frequencies are set up correctly to start with .... and so long as the frequencies being selected are actually represented within the MSFS NAV AID data base PLEASE NOTE .... not all ADF or VOR frequencies are included in the MSFS NAV AID data base .... and some the frequencies that are represented are are wrong, or, the frequencies represented have changed since MS last updated their MSFS NAV AID data base .... meaning .... if you're using a recent chart with a more up-to-date/recently changed realwrld NAV AID frequency that isn't represented within the MSFS NAV AID data base .... then you're simply not going to be able get any bearing at all. No RMI bearing in regard to ADF1/ADF2/VOR1/VOR2 frequencies are generally the resuit of "THIS" .... or .... a wrong frequency having being selected. Mark C AKL/NZ

I know how to change the frequency of ADF2, but ADF1 always stays at 100.0 no matter what frequency I want to dial into it (the RMI displays the ADF2-direction when I click on this Rabbits Ear switch). What do I wrong?

So far as I can determine .... and so far as I've commented so far .... no problem/s existe "at all" in regard to ADF1/ADF2/VOR1/VOR2 frequencies associated with any of the DC9 panels.
I simply cannot replicate you apparent problem !

Perhaps you could show me/us (via a screenshot) how the radio(s) have to be used. Honestly I don't know why I can use the ADF2, but not the ADF1 of the DC-9 panels. I will re-download the panels and let you guys know if I have any success.

Mark, I've downloaded the latest Panel/panel base pack (for the DC-9-20) and installed it into the DC-9-20 I have on my system. Strangely I couldn't recreate the issue I encountered with the ADF1 neither with the package(s) I've downloaded or with the package(s) I already have for the DC-9s. Luckily now both ADF are working like they should. Thanks for the help and a big THANK YOU for the great freeware birds you guys are providing to the FS-community (707/720, DC-8, DC-9, TriStar, Caravelle, etc.)! Klaus
