Hello there!
I've downloaded the Caravelle 3 late with the SAS panel (and of course the texture, sound and smoke effects files), and am running it in FSX. It works really well, once you read everything in the manual carefully... However, one item baffles me. I can extend and retract the flaps (both with F5-F8, and with the flap handle on the pedestal), and I see the flaps moving on the wings. But the indicator on the main panel stays at 0. What's wrong?
Cheers, eskil

WELL .... firstly .... these CARAVELLE simulations "ARE NOT" marketed as being FSX compatible. They are FS9/2004 products ,,,, as is very clearly stated on our CARAVELLE PANELS downloads page .... THESE PANELS ARE FOR FS2004 ONLY !!!We understand these CARAVELLE panels may "appear" to work in FSX .... BUT .... until such a time as they are actually upgraded and re marketed for specific FSX compatibility also .... they remain FS9/F2004 "ONLY" products and "will not" be promoted for FSX use. In any case all of the accompanying FDE (FX files in particular) are FS2004 configured .... so .... they're not going to work desirably within FSX .... and .... the same also applies in relation to our AEROMUSICA soundpacks as well which are also compiled for FS2004 use principally Likely what I've mentioned above .... but .... I can say .... in "FS2004", if one transitions from 1 CARAVELLE model/texture to another model/texture .... more than a couple of times .... within the same FS session .... and without first loading a default MSFS aircraft between selections .... then flap gauge indications failing to move/flaps not extending/retracting as well as gear indications/gear failing to retract/extend also .... are a consequence of this action. When changing from 1 CARAVELLE model/texture to another .... the recommended procedure is to first load any MSFS default aircraft between selections in order to avoid this. It's not a problem with the simulation .... but rather .... an FS "thing" which occurs with some models/panels/programming more than others. Mark C AKL/NZ

OK, Mark, I totally appreciate what you say. And I did read the statement that FSX compatibility isn't assured, both on the forum and the download page, so I entered with open eyes. However, despite all of that, it seems to me that the Caravelle functions admirably for an a/c ported from FS9, and I think many other simmers have had the same experience. I just hoped that there was some clue to this specific gauge not working. Well, I will trudge on and check the flap handle on the pedestal. Hopefully some other user may come up with a suggestion...
Regards, eskil

This's just a "General Response" (to nobody in particular) .... a reminder if one likes to interpret it that way .... because, at the risk of appearing like a stuck record/damaged CD, I feel I need to, yet again, stress the following .... ;D As stated within my "CARAVELLE PANEL INSTALLATION & HANDLING NOTES" .... and .... as also stated on our website downloads pages too .... these CARAVELLE simulations "ARE NOT/WERE NOT" designed for FSX use. They "might" appear to run OK within FSX (as many late FS2004 productions do), but, the key fact remains, they "SHOULD NOT" be regarded as fully FSX compatible .... and for this reason (and unlike is the case with our other successful FS9/FSX portovers which are compatible) we "DO NOT" provide FSX support for the CARAVELLE, so please, do not ask People and their comments can, unwittingly perhaps, lead other people astray, but, I simply "DO NOT" want anyone being under a false impression regarding this For this reason .... I suggest kindly disregarding what some people appear to imply in regard to the compatibility of these CARAVELLE simulations with FSX .... simply because, it seems, that "full FSX compatibility" in the minds of some folk, versus that of the team whom actually produced these fine simulations, is actually "QUITE DIFFERENT". Whether or not these CARAVELLE simulations might become fully FSX compatible in the future remains to be seen When .... and ...."IF" this does actually happen .... we will, accordingly, announce that and then revise both our forum/website notes as well as our CARAVELLE support policy also "HOPEFULLY" .... this'll be my last comment on this particular subject ;D Mark C AKL/NZ
