JUst a quick question here. Downloaded & installed EAL DC8 50 @ 63.The gauges selected for both were with the ins. I note both panels have exactly the same gauges. Same gauges for all of the 8s?

The panel gauges in each of the HJG DC8-50 and 60 SERIES panels are "similar" .... BUT .... the layuts differ slightly as does instrument type/standard in some cases also. In particular .... the main panel graphic for both the DC8-10-50 panels differs somewhat from that of the DC8-60-70 SERIES panels since the majority of real world "SUPER 60 SERIES" DC8's featured the later/modiied production main panel combing. There is "ONLY 1" DC8 PANELS GAUGES/CORE FILES package .... which contains all of the necessary gauges and panel/gauge sounds for "all DC8 aircraft versions". Whist some of the HJG DC8 panels may "look similar" the engine gauges callibration in each aircraft type panel are "quite different" ....in accordance with trying to reflect the known engine parametyers for each aircraft/engine type .... as best as FS, and HJG's own programminmg abilities, will permit .... there "ARE" differences here. For this reason .... it's "essential" to mate/pair the correct aircraft type panel versions with the correct corresponding aircraft type base packs, or, engine gauge indications are going to be "right out of whack" in regard to aircraft/simulation performances. The main panel engine gauges instruments of the HJG DC8-70 SERIES panels also differ most obviously from each of the earlier aircraft type panels .... in that these these CFM-56 powered DC8 versions have both N1 and N2 gauges wheras the others are equipperd with EPR and N2 gauges .... and I think it's PS7 gauges on the DC8-40 only if I remember correctly. DC8-10-30DC8-50 (INS)DC8-61 (INS)DC8-71 (INS)The DC8-50/60/70 panel versions obviously differ betwen those whish are INS equipped and those which are not .... since not all of these aircraft were actually fittied with INS type NAV systems. None of the earlier DC8-10-40 aircraft versions were ever equipped with INS (though some of these might have been equipped with DUAL DOPPLER NAV systems .... which were, in fact, a standard NAV system type on DC8-50-60 aircraft rather than the specific INS version represented by HJG and other FS offerings. The following information might help you .... and other folk also .... in respect knowing of precisely which panel versions, and also which soundpack versions too, should/must be used with each HJG DC8 simulation .... for best overall enjoyment Once again .... the soundopacks (like the engine gauges too) are compiled in accordance with FDE data, so, the right soundpacks should/must be used with each simulation/Aircraft Base Pack in order for relatively smooth audio playback .... and in order for "the right tones" to be heard in accorance with various engine gauges indications. I downloaded the dc-8-63 ins panel and get the panel for the DC8-50. Should not the 63 have the same panel as the 61 as shown?

I can't imagine why you should be getting DC8-50 TYPE panels if you're downloding DC8-62/63 TYPE panels .... unless you've, possuibly, inadvertently, got them mixed up after downloading and installing .... or .... unless the download links for any the HJG DC8-50 and DC8-61/62 have, for some reason, become "crossed-linked" "NO" .... because although the DC8-61 panel features precisely the same main panel combing (different from the DC8-10-50 versions though) and primary gauges suite as the -63 panel .... the engine gauges in the -61 panel version are callibrated according to P&W JT3D-3B performance parameters (as best as FS will allow us to do so) .... whereas those for the -62/-63 panel version are calibrated according to P&W JT3D-7 performance parameters. There's about 1,000 LBS of thrust difference, per engine, between both panels .... plus entirely different dynamics for both aircraft as well. Mark C AKL/NZ

FYI .... I've just checked "each" of the download links for the following HJG DC8 panel versions ....
DC8-50 DC8-50 INS DC8-61 DC8-61 INS DC8-62/63 DC8-62/63 INS
I can confirm that, acorsding to what I've just seen, each of the links provided does, indeed, download the correct corresponding DC8 panel version.
Therefore .... please take care to ensure the correct panel verasion is being installed with the correct corresponsding aircraft version Base Pack .... as advised per the above listings.
