Hiya,
I'll save the flight, for example when I'm entering the ILS "feather" or nearing the "feather." Next day: I come back and reboot both the computer and FS9. After the default Cessna appears, I change a/c to the last one that I was using. I then go to Select Flight and select the above referenced flight. The computer whirrs a bit, but in the end, I'm still on the runway in KSEA, and I can't get back to my saved flight.
Thanks in advance,

"SAVED FLIGHTS" .... has, apparently, been known to result in some degree of difficulty when using some HJG "panels" rather than the actual aircraft simulations generally. Saving any flight isn't the particular issue here .... because that can still bre done .... BUT .... on the basis of what's been reported here on this forum, since 2006, saved flights have been known to result in some form of difficulty when using some HJG aircraft with HJG supplied panels/gauges programming. Whether or not this difficulty applies to just a few HJG suplied panels only (I do know this to be true of the B707 series panels though) .... I can't say .... BUT .... based on past experience/feedback .... I, personally, recommend "NOT" saving flights using HJG simulations, but, that's entirely up to you .... of course Mark C AKL/NZ

I don't have fs9 but in fsx, one loads the saved flight from the main FSX screen after it comes up with the default Aircraft. I don't seem to have any problem with saving a flight under a name and then retrieving it from there. Don't have to load the aircraft or anything. Must be different in fs9. HJG aircraft come up fine in saved flights on my fsx. Falcon

Hi:
In FS9 is the same as it is described for FSX. BUT: What Mark comments applies for panels with advanced systems which dont activate by reloading a saved state of that panel. Therefore many advanced simulations are not of the kind: "Will save the flight on short final and try it tomorrow again!" That the saved flight doesnt appear alltogether should not be the case. Are the FS9 files write enabled?
Kind regards
Walter

Never had any problems re-activating any HJG aircraft "Saved Flights" in FS9 or FSX.

It has been reported in the past Herman (in the regard to the B707/720 panels at least) .... and which is what's prompted me to nmention it within some of the panel installation & handling notes/guides.
In this particular case I was merely alerting "THRILLS'N'CHILLS" (reminding everyone really) that "minor" issues could result in regard to saved flights when using "some" (not all) HJG supplied simulations/panels.
The issue I hint at isn't in regard to ones ability to actually save any flight scenario within FS (because that's still possible), but rather, it's in regard to how FS then interprets/applies some of the save information and that has, apparently, in the past, been known to result "minor" difficulties/abnormalities.
The particular "minor" issue, to which I refer, affected INS and/or GPS navigation only ..... "AS I RECALL".
I don't think "THRILL'N'CHILLS" issue is anything in relation to the "type of" issues I'm suggesting .... BUT .... I felt obliged to comment (remind everyone) that "minor" issues could, possibly, arise in regard to "some" HJG simulations/panels and saved flight scenarios.

Mark, is correct there is a minor issue and I have seen it in action myself but there is a quick cheat to get around it. Simply pause the flight after it has been recalled and manually reset the instruments on the panel - it is not a real-world solution but acceptable if your are researching or using the sim as per a training aid. Note on edit: I have just noticed FS9 does not save cowl flap settings on the Saab 90 because this is a non-standard function so I assume this goes beyond HJG aircraft. I am not sure the cowl flap settings make a lot of difference on the Saab 90 sim but they should because they are used to control engine temp' on real-world aircraft of course Second note on edit: apparently the cowl flap setting does genuinely cool the cylinder heads on the Saab 90 sim...nice touch!Thrills and chills (as Mark says) seems to be reporting a different problem and I can only imagine this is something to do with how the flight is saved and I doubt it is uniquely HJG from the description. I have never had a saved flight default to a different condition in the way described. Even handflyers will retain the throttle position at the save point until the joystick is moved after the flight has been restored. I hate to suggest this but this reads more like a file management problem of some kind and I am not sure about the changing an a/c within a saved flight. I may be reading this wrong but surely this would change the parameters of the saved flight and invoke default settings within FS9 hence why you end up back on the ground. I am sure it is possible to change a/c while in flight (I have never tried it) but I only use this as a technique for creating engine-off starts and I am sure it would create conflicts if in-flight. The fact that you choose the a/c 'beyond' the Cessna suggests it has not saved the aircraft that you used previously or that you have inadvertently started to create a new flight. The fact that your hard drive whirrs audibly is quite worrying because the saved files are actually quite small and this either suggests an impending PC failure (which I doubt ) or simply that the game is searching for a file that does not actually exist. Try naming files at save point with something other than defaults (for example my current flight file reads VASP Saab 90 Novo Progresso - Brasilia). The file as saved in FS9 Flight Files folder includes the MS Application file of the same name at 12kb and the VFR Cachimbo to Pres Juscelino Kubitschek Int.PLN at just 477 bytes. The folder also contains Previous flight but I never use this to access saved flights. The PLN file is independent of the saved flight but the Application file still needs this - you can still start the flight but it will default to VFR (after an error message) and you will have to set up the flight again using the ATC options but do NOT choose 'move to the airport on your plan' (or whatever the message reads as) when you have completed re-setting up the flight again because you end up back on the ground at your origin ( with the same fuel you had at the save point in the flight). I hope this helps but apologies if this reads like a dummies guide, no offence intended. Also apologies if this is not the nature of the problem.

Hi:
Still a much easier explanation: The new name under the flight had to be saved was not put in, then the old saved flight remains the same and the new one you intended to save "disapeared" as a no name flight.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I appreciate all the replies.
I'm intrigued by the FS Recorder as I have them installed already for both FS9 and FSX.
I use it to record my approaches and landings.
How would you use it to save a flight?
Thanks,
